Great comments. It’s definitely a norm in the heavy equipment business to harp on safety. After 30 years I always go back to spacial awareness. Always have an exit plan. Stuff happens fast. Don’t do dumb shit, and have thick skin. When someone tells you they don’t like it. Re-think it. Do it right. 5 minutes in time.

Ya man stored energy can kill you. Watched a dude open a railcar cam lock cap with 3 PSI on the car. Blew him off the car onto the ground. Lucky for him the cap had a chain welded to it. I remember him saying its only 3 PSI whats the big deal when I started yelling at him to stop before you die. Ya only 3 PSI with a hell of a lot of volume behind hit.

Probably not over 20 k. The problem was that the weight was on the end of the fork extension. 20k at the pins not 8' in front of them . That lowers the picking weight drastically. Besides the fact that fork extensions are only supposed to be 150 % of the main fork. You were way beyond that. Safety last. Job finished fist my motto.🍻

If you had put a vacuum hose in the hydraulic fill spout and turned it on, it would have prevented all the hydraulic leaks from the hoses you pulled off.

You can 99% never over grease. Pins and bushings are much more expensive than grease But seals are more expensive than grease. So when there’s a seal holding the grease in. You gotta watch the amount of grease you pump. JMOs.
