How To Haul The Worlds LARGEST Grader! (un-haul)

- Опубликовано: 13 авг 2023
- The worlds largest production made grader rolled into @quintonbartolotta shop today and I saw it as a good opportunity to show you how we move these big oversized loads. Now I myself have never hauled a 24H... but I did have trailers like this one and the process is similar. All moves are a little different and have their own challenges, but the crew at Iron King knows what they are doing and this unload went really smooth.

Go check out Quinton’s video here! He’s got a lot of plans for that grader and I will definitely be tuning in!
ruclips.net/video/ltZXQJhQ8Yo/видео.html
Will watch also,
Just subscribed to quintins channel thx for the tip
Really a shame to tear that thing down but if it is economical for his business then okay.
i worked for General Trailer for 22 years building jeeps and lowboys. Your discription of how the trailer works was right on point. It's nice to see the trailer in use.
In Australia we call the 'jeep' a 'dolly' because it is essentially a dolly wheel but those big lowboys are awesome. All the way from the design, construction to the man behind the wheel they are an impressive bit of kit.
@@seanworkman431 80's in So Calif we had what we called a "Dolly" that you could drive the front tires of a scraper up on, we had 631 Cats' and do short moves on county roads chaining the can up and using the rear tires for your trailer. The dolly would also double as a small jeep for loads pushing max std loads.
this is why I like your Channel so much Casey, you keep us entertained with a wide variety of topics, all of which have been meaningful.
I have always wondered what the rear tandems do on a heavy haul tractor trailer and your explanation cleared it up for me. Your describing the various parts of the truck and trailer and what they do was wonderful. The variety on your channel, Casey, is the best on RUclips. Thank you
Every time I see those trailer, I'm thinking its pointless. After Casey educational/explanation, it made whole lot sense.
leverage baby, not too different from a travel trailer...
They are there to make the inspection people happy, and to lower the cost to transport stuff.
@@dubious6718 Not just inspection people happy but to exert less concentrated load on the roads and not break them up. Distributing the weight helps to not destroy the roads as bad. It's not just to make inspectors happy.
I watch these shenanigans and have the 'Shake Hands With Danger' song in my head. 😂
Everything was safe all the way through
@@CaseyLaDelle oh, I have no doubts of that, it's just an earworm I get and it gives me the giggles.
WOW! Now that is an impressive grader! It sounds like a freight train Engine idling. Looks to me like it is far better than just a parts rig!
1650 cubic inch V-12!
Cat C27 engine, I assume the name comes from the 27 liter displacement.
Looks like it have seen better days, and if it has been sitting for a long time, it might need more parts to get it fully operational than its worth.
@@dubious6718 Actually, is sounds like it *is* the spare parts for the other identical graders he already owned.
That choking sound coming out of Pennsylvania is Matt from Diesel Creek, choking on his envy.
I love the stuff that you put on your channel. I’m 71 years old and I’m female and I’m literally enjoying every minute of this and every video that you do because there’s never a boring moment.
Old'ish Seabee EO here. Watching Casey is like taking 20 years off my life.
I love the fact i can watch your content and gain knowledge instead of losing brain cells watching most of the content on this platform! Keep up the great stuff man!
Next episode…Casey and 4 yr old drive grader to store for ice cream 😎
Pity the dummy that brake checks him ( squish like grape ) 🤣
My dad use to work on heavy tractors at a Caterpillar dealer that had a shop in Portland. He worked in the SF bay area. He worked on anything that had a CAT in it - from heavy dumps used in mines to cranes at the shipping yards. He was sent to Alaska one time to repair a Cat in the oil fields. My Mom would takes us to visit him in the shop until we were ran out by his boss. Thanks for bringing back those memories.
These videos of other things in your daily schedule are just as interesting as the rescue jobs. Keep up the good work!
I didn't realize how much I'd like it but I'm here for every post now. Might change careers.
My late father talked about guys like these... Men of few words but lots of action! Fantastic from beginning fitting that long truck through the gate, to parking that monster!!! Fantastic!
That thing is a beast! I like the PVC pipe trick! Never thought of that!
The more we learn about you the more I laugh about the comments from critics when you began the channel.
I wear my "I never said I was good at that" t-shirt often.
Always enjoy all the different stuff you show us thanks for taking us along man
I came for the off road recovery videos, stayed for the heaving hauling tutorials!
That thing looks like CAT went 'what's our largest generator? lets put it on wheels and see what we can make with it.'
Casey, the breadth of your knowledge and experience never ceases to amaze me!!!!
The evolution of heavy machinery has been remarkable; Benjamin Holt would surely be astounded. Watching this video brought back memories of my childhood, clambering over heavy equipment in my grandfather's backyard as if it were a playground. Good stuff.
Great content! I like how you explain how everything works and functions on the low boy trailer.
Love big machine videos Casey, especially when explained how it all works.
That 24H is in better shape than some I’ve used! Been running them since 2011.
Hi, Casey LaDelle.
Thanks for the video - well done.
The Cat 24H is the world's largest CURRENT production grader as the Champion 100T WAS a production grader but is no longer produced.
What a LOTTTT of people don't know is that Acco 'ackshully' built a 'prototype' grader BEFORE he built the REAL one. The 'prototype' was apparently all on single tires and 'only' weighed a 'mere' 160 tons. From what I can find out, both machines existed at the same time until both were scrapped when his estate was wound up after his death and the death of his son shortly afterwards.
The Acco dozer has been saved and is currently in storage in Italy not far from where it was built.
Just my 0.02.
You have a wonderful day. best wishes. Deas Plant.
Probably the best definition of how a Jeep and the rear system that I don't remember the name of work. I often wondered how they distributed the load correctly. Thanks for clarifying as always. Appreciate the deverse content
Anytime you are moving, loading, unloading or operating any piece of equipment from a skid steer to massive mining equipment there is always ONE person designated as the signalman, everyone else around is supposed to call out a STOP signal only. We all know that never happens. I love at 22:35 Green shirt guys is trying to help but looks over and thinks "Ok I'll shut up" More than once I've had multiple people throw all different signals in dangerous situations, all you can do is stop and Politely say with as little profanity as possible "He/she is the only one that should be giving me signals" lol
Casey you just keep amazing me with every video you make I've been watching your videos for quite a while now but lately I've been learning more and more about your career, now I realize that your also a heavy equipment operator also, I'm truly amazed, thanks for showing us us this one i happen to love big equipment 👍
Seemingly anything could be described as "big". Big rigs, big wreckers, big loads, big machinery, and monster trucks.
Heavy haul and big equipment is the industry I've been in my whole life. It blows me away that people think this whole off road recovery thing is so interesting, because it's amateur hour compared to the work I did before moving to Oregon. The off road recovery thing was just supposed to be a filler until I got another heavy haul setup after losing mine to a fire during the move, but then I started filming it and it took off WAY bigger than I was expecting/hoping.
@@CaseyLaDelle "but then I started filming it and it took off WAY bigger than I was expecting/hoping"
And nearly 200 thousand folks are glad that it did!
@@alanmumford8806 So Wise , True , Thank Yoy
@@alanmumford8806 if only you know how much that number bothers me 😂
Casey is in control. You didn't say how long ago you ran a grader almost as big as this, but we can see you've still got what it takes to get 'er done!
CASEY! HELL YEAH!! I just got home , fixing something to eat and then will sit down to watch this.. BUT I know that it is safe to leave a HELL YEAH and a thumbs UP "or three", right now! 👍👍👍
Casey you are so knowledgeable.. you're a walking machine encyclopedia
That thing is a BEAST!! Nice work gentleman!! You all work very well together. And, I enjoyed the laughs too!
8:00 'Yeah, Casey... I know what you did!' was hilarious... 😄😄
I appreciate you Casey and all your video’s keep up the great work and video’s 😊😊😊
You could grade your and Grumpys whole road with one swipe!!
Nice placement of the Yankum Ropes sticker on the forklift :D
So, this is why they are your friends? You both do shenanigans. Cool video. Love that machine.
That's pretty cool.. I already watched this on the Iron King channel. Still cool though.
Thanks for the video
Look at the size of those tires. Wow!
There is always a bit a stress and tension in the air when unloading or loading a piece of equipment glad everyone can still count to twenty and clap.
Like the different aspects between you and Quinton. Same object but angles, information,tid-bits are inspirational.
Nice Tonka toy
This so awesome. So rad it started on the first try. Quite the contraption to load and unload.
I love your explanations! I learn something new every time
Damn, that thing is huge
WOW,
Thanx for sharing your experience with your work 👌
Hmmmm. A 24 minute video uploaded 4 minutes ago and I just added the 59th "like". Yes! I admit to adding a Like while watching only the first minute!
I do the same.
Cool stuff Casey. thanks for sharing.
I was really hoping you were overriding the "HOA" in your area to do more road work like last year, that would have been hilarious.
Very cool...good job!
Wow - so many excellent things to comment on. First of all, thank you for a very informative explanation of the trailer and the load sharing axles - very informative. Next was the starting of the grader - absolutely love the sound of those big engines starting up like that (and the safety kill switch test). Next was watching Casey in action unloading that monster from the trailer, and the explanations of what and why it did what it did. Just an excellent video, and always fun to see Quinton in action.
All of this content is totally out of my wheelhouse and experience. I watch every video all the way through. So educational. Thank you for sharing your life experiences and skills.
So exciting! Never seen anything like this before.
Coolest thing I have seen on RUclips I awhile Casey. Keep this stuff coming! !!!!!!!!
Yes, that was big.....!! And nice to see you can drive it!
Now that was a very special video! Well done you guys are amazing 👏
Big stuff is cool! Just takes more knowledge and care. A jeep on it's side is not too bad, that grader on it's side would be a Big problem...
So cool to see, thanks Casey! Great camera work David!
Awesome video. Your knowledge of the 24H is spot on. This is the same grader I run at the coal mine. Incredible power and the blade control is very good for being 24 feet long!
When it fired up right away, that was impressive. Explanation for the low boy makes the video a great lesson for moving large equipment. Thanks.
Thanks for sharing, Casey and Quinton!! These kinds of videos are extremely interesting to watch! Your videos are so good with so many topic and things covered! Love it!! Keep up the good work, guys!! Best regards from Norway!!
Hey Casey !!! Yepper !!! Watched both Yours & Quinton's video as very impressive to see !!! 🤔🙄🤠😎👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks Casey - Great Video - I learned more about specialized trailers and graders in this one video than I had in the entire previous 54 years of my life....by a lot.....lol
Always something new and exciting on the channel!
This was so awesome I didn’t want it to end!
Wow Casey you should have just got your train conducter license also lol
Casey, you have too much FUN. It's not natural to love what you do most of the time you're awake. Leads to a happy life, and too many friends.
That was fun. Stay safe.
That was proper mega cool Casey!
Might have seen one of those years ago plowing snow from the shoulder of the road, and the ditch into the farmers fields so they could snow plow normally...it was crazy impressive! 😲
Wow! That was awesome! Thanks for taking us along with you. Big, BIG toy!
I just love how much fun you guys have doing this it’s real treat
Awesome video!👍😎 Your knowledge of all heavy equipment, trucks, towing and maintenance is very impressive 😎 Catching up on your older videos, they are all very interesting. Stay safe out there! ❤️🙏
Nice going you guys!!!
I appreciate you sharing man, I love seeing shot like this. Your vods keep me entertained while I’m at work. 🇺🇸👊🏻😎🇺🇸
That final scene of driving the grader off was impressive. The size, power, and scale of that machine really became apparent. And the trailer took it all like a champ! Very cool video, and very cool equipment!
Thanks for the video, always enjoy watching!
Very cool Casey .
My dad had a much h smaller grader
Us kids got to use the old Inner tubes for swimming when he had a blowout. (1950's ). In Southern California at the beach .....
Cool Casey, totally cool; I never knew any of this stuff...
Thank you! Very impressive!
Love your videos seen u at the wrecker games and love the new truck u just bought ❤
Pretty cool dude,
It's quite the operation to move equipment, no matter the size,
But bigger is more,
Thats what she said😊
Watching some of those hand and arm signals was frightening.
That was fascinating. She's one BIG MOMMA
Biggest Machinery I've Every Seen ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Need a big backyard to play with this one.😂
Excellent video, very interesting end to end and informative. Good narration, moves right along.
How Awesome is that!😊
Great vid Casey. Loved it.
7m 54 seconds. Safety check !!! 😆
That was cool. Thanks
About 10 years ago i machined 2 sets of steering knuckles for these bad boys. Massive is an understatement.
There is another aspect of hauling a load like this down the highway. You touched on one briefly- which is the escort car or truck also called a pilot car. These are cars with signs and revolving lights that either run in front or behind or sometimes as mentioned there are two cars. A load such as this as the sign on the back of the grader said" Wide Load" which means it takes up a lot of road. These kind of hauls require a permit - and theses are issued by each state the heavy haul drives through. These permits have to be issued in advance. Also- there are some days (national holidays) that heavy hauls are not allowed on the road. Another thing depending on the destination is bridges (most interstates are a certain height- but some state roads are lower. Also - the weight limit of a state road of the bridge (the heavy haul load may be too heavy for the bridge and the driver has to pick another way to go around). So basically if the load is too heavy you are not allowed to go from point A to B)
All correct, except the routing.
The state issuing the permit does the routing.
If the load is tall and or wide, it is still best to pre-run the route. Sometimes bureaucratic screw ups occur.
I recall watching a video years ago where the bridge deck surface actually visibly flattened as the heavy haul rolled through. Impressive engineering of the bridge to allow and support that.
Casey this video was a lot of fun you guys made that look easy. It is a shame that machine is going to be torn down
Another great video, Casey!
Amazing project
A lot of cool engineering getting that monster down the road.
Excellent!
That's definitely something to watch, 😮😊😊
I learned on a 60's Cat 12 we called "Pelican" grading haul roads. Was a knuckle buster and total "Lawn tractor" compared to that 24. Very impressive n love the content you share.
wow that was cool!
I love to see people who really enjoy their jobs.
