He also adopts Athelstan questioning everything religion-wise, hence the cross (though it also has another meaning you'll find out soon enough).
The way Floki walks the thin line between quirkiness and madness is fascinating. As much as I hate what he did to Athelstan, I've never been able to hate the guy. In fact, he's one of my favorites. Gustaf Skarsgård is just incredible.
I totally agree. He´s such an interesting and complex character. I loved Athelstan, and I love Floki. Just like Ragnar. I love this show for not having black and white characters and storylines. I can´t imagine any other actor in the role as Floki, Gustaf Skarsgård is really amazing, I´m looking forward to see what he will do in the future. I really look forward to see him as Merlin in the Netflix series "Cursed" next year, and also in 438 Days, where he will play a real person, a Swedish journalist that was imprisoned in Ethiopia in 2011-2012.
Fun History Fact, the chant Floki leads at the end there is stripped right out of the Viking sagas. It's the lines that are spoken before Ragnar Lothbrok is first introduced. So in effect that scene is saying "Hello Paris. Meet Ragnar!"
Ragnar was definitely setting up Floki to fail because he knew that he had something to do with Athelstern death... But he's teaching him a lesson at the wrong time putting everybody else life in danger!!!
Here we go!!!! Been waiting for this for days, let's go to Paris!!! Floki climbs mountains with a little bit of love from Ragnar.. He did a great job with the towers for sure...

Ragnars raid on paris is something we was actually taught as kids in sweden at 2nd grade during viking history. Also taught about his son Björn Järnsida (ironside) and the island he is buried at here in Munsö. Lagertha or rather Lagerda isnt taught, which make sense, since only a monk in 1200 ad write about her, and how she killed her 2nd husband at the wedding after divorce from Ragnar and became a Jarl afterwards, not much else is written.

At 6:17. Yep, they were historically accurate here too. Look at all the wealth of the Frankish king in Paris. Huge, beautiful coronation hall, very large and sumptuous banquet hall, and a much larger and richer court. This king clearly has far more wealth than the relatively poor kings in Mercia, Wessex and Northumbria in Great Britain. The Vikings will be thrilled to pillage this town with its rich king.
- We are introduced to some new characters in this episode, one of them is the one-handed Count Odo, who was a real, historical figure, Count Odo of Paris. - We also meet "his Imperial highness" Charles. In real life, he was called Charles the Bald, and unlike in the show, he was only 22 years old when he heard the news that the Northmen had approached. In the show, he is Emperor Charles, but he was "only" King at this time. - Finally, Charles' daugher, Princess Gisla. LOL Paris is certainly not like any of the towns the Vikings raided in England. Paris was a major city even at this time. I really like Aethelwulf and Ecbert too. Interesting take on Alfred potentially being Ecbert's kid instead of Athelstan's. It's clear to me that Ecbert really favors Alfred at this point and for a man as smart as him I always figured that was an interesting dynamic that could go beyond whatever kinship he had with Athelstan. Kwentrith dropping at Magnus bomb was interesting and Porunn always annoyed me for some reason.
Ecbert talking up Athelstan as a HOLY man to Aethelwulf was to just keep Judith and her son, Athelstan's son, alive. Even if Ecbert does consider Athelstan to be touched by God, he's more motivated by friendship (yes, despite what he says, Ecbert definitely considers him a friend).
Steven, Nikki, in actual history, the siege of Paris is what the REAL Ragnar Lothbrok was most famous for. His forces sailed up the Seine River and laid siege to the city, which had NEVER been done before!
I'll get alot of hate for this, but no matter what, I can never hate Floki for killing Athelstan. Floki is a FOOL, that is for sure! But I can never be against him.
Well that’s the point. And that’s also why Ragnar never chose to punish him. Ragnar was going to punish Floki in his own way until Bjorn jumped the gun and publicly arrests Floki while Ragnar was incapacitated which forced Ragnar to punish Floki
I cannot hate that idea because Floki is a very complex character, and honest in his own ways. I hate that he killed Athelstan, but I cannot hate his character.
A king with grand plans can not have friends, Ecbert is a tad like Tywin from game of thrones, sacrificing his personal life to ensure his son and grandson have a great kingdom to rule. Sleeping with his son's wife is kinda iffy, but hey, privileges of being King.

Floki was with Ragnar's group at Uppsala where Lief was sacrificed instead of Athelstan. This is some major Bull$hit on Floki's part to now claim the Gods wanted Athelstan dead. His religion's own priests said the sacrific of Athelstan would not please the Gods... Floki was jealous of Athelstan and wanted him dead (he was also worried about the Christian influence on Ragnar), but anything else is just rationalizations from Floki.

@@korbino5174 Vikings had a budget of probably $10 a season for season 1 and 2, *sarcasm* infact the creator didn't even expect it to go past season 1. GoT had a budget of what from Season 1-8? Season 3 was the first season of Vikings where they actually put some decent money into it and you can actually tell. Give Vikings a budget from season 1-6 like GoT had and see which show would turn out better.
I love the show because it is historical quite accurate meaning the costumes and enviroment and utensils...but mentioned that now the whole Paris thing "truely pisses me off" in that matter...What the hell are the crossbows doing there...because those appeared in dark age Europe in the late 12th century round about 300 years later than that particular episode actually happened...that´s like in comparision showing the US Independence war instead of with front-loader guns with full automatic machine guns of today.. And I truely can´t comprehend why the showrunners have done this...for what? Simple Archers on the walls are as like as a threat and all would stay historical accurate.

Kwentrith dropping at Magnus bomb was interesting and Porunn always annoyed me for some reason.
Porunn annoyed me to, dunno why...
Yayyyyyy been waiting all day for this u guys always lift. My mood guys xx
And remember the prophecy "only the dead can conquer Paris". Ragnar knows that.
not spolier at all
I ❤ Aethelwulf. Dude is intense
I like him too. I wish someone would tell N&S how to pronounce his name though lol
My favorite character along with his dad!
@@amandatidey5751 next to Ragnar❤
Ecbert talking up Athelstan as a HOLY man to Aethelwulf was to just keep Judith and her son, Athelstan's son, alive. Even if Ecbert does consider Athelstan to be touched by God, he's more motivated by friendship (yes, despite what he says, Ecbert definitely considers him a friend).
Steven, Nikki, in actual history, the siege of Paris is what the REAL Ragnar Lothbrok was most famous for. His forces sailed up the Seine River and laid siege to the city, which had NEVER been done before!
Just finished Breaking bad and saw your reaction idk why I'm saying this now but the show suprised me. Just WoW
Breaking Bad is one of the greatest shows ever. Glad you got a chance to enjoy it.
Hey you guys might want to do two parts for the next episode, that’s what most of the other reactions did. To much happens for just 10 mins
Floki is the man for the work he did can't wait till the next episode bye Nikki and Steven bye
I was waiting for this reaction! This episode and the next ones are some of the best! Enjoy Nikki & Steven!
These next 3 episodes are pure greatness...
I hate that he killed Athelstan, but I cannot hate his character.
hey guys I'm new fan from Morocco 🙂 and i love your videos ♥️
React to Dark! It's really good
Season 3 is my favourite season of the show.
Hope the next episodes are coming soon - can´t wait
In mi opinión the next episode its one of the best of the show, be prepared🔥
French politics are unique in nature, nobles converse with each other with smiles dripped in Venom. They call it "La Grand Jeux", the great game.
*May I offer you a cup of wine?* Hell No! xD
this Paris trip is a trip
Did you watch the teaser of the witcher? If not would you react to it sometime and tell us if that would be a show you'd like to react to?
Yeah pls react to this.
I hope it'll be a series they make! They loved got, and witcher is the same genre but MORE fantasy
Ragnar just chilling playing with a mouse...🤣
A king with grand plans can not have friends, Ecbert is a tad like Tywin from game of thrones, sacrificing his personal life to ensure his son and grandson have a great kingdom to rule. Sleeping with his son's wife is kinda iffy, but hey, privileges of being King.
I WILL SAY IT AGAIN 8 9 YOU WILL FLIP .ROLLO WHAT A MEN WHAT A MAN WHAT A VERY GOOD MAN! Folkie a F u will understand later. Also there is another princess! 9 ragnar speech amazing ! Omg you will love it!!! KNOW EPISODE 10 WILL BLOW YOU AWAY!!!SEASON 3 AND 4 ARE THE..... BEST
Fun Fact: The actress who plays Princess Gisla is the daughter of the famed Roman Polanski :D
@Kelly
So sorry Kelly. The comment was for OGSpaceCadet. I will delete.
good job guys!
Next episode transports Vikings into GOT level when it comes to battles! Get ready! I’m so hyped!
Ragnar is letting Floki know that he knows he killed Athelstan!
Is that a license plate from The Land of Enchantment 🤩I'm from New Mexico btw.. and it's cool seeing that
I just can’t wait until you guys get a whiff of BJORN IRONSIDE and the beast son of Odin he is! 🔥
I got a complaint... you two know how hard is to go through the weekend without watching you guys watch Vikings? I miss you 😔 thank you.
Please consider The Expanse to react to in the future
That ending always makes me want to gather a group of friends, get som tickets to Paris, go to some hill overlooking the city and yell "Skeggǫld! Skálmǫld! Skildir ro Klofnir!"
Don't know what you said, but hells yea!!😂😂
@@tinabailey4035
Axe time! Sword time! Shields are splintered!
It´s from the poem Vǫluspá from the poetic Poetic Edda, and describes what´s happening during Ragnarök, the end of the world.
@@Asa...S Thank you😀
Ragnar is acting strange, you mean, Ragnar is acting Ragnar
Floki was with Ragnar's group at Uppsala where Lief was sacrificed instead of Athelstan. This is some major Bull$hit on Floki's part to now claim the Gods wanted Athelstan dead. His religion's own priests said the sacrific of Athelstan would not please the Gods... Floki was jealous of Athelstan and wanted him dead (he was also worried about the Christian influence on Ragnar), but anything else is just rationalizations from Floki.
Steven: She's a lot more than most people can handle...
Nikki: 19:20
😆 I love you guys! 💟
Hi Nikki and Steven you probably won't see this but if you do I just want to let you know that your reactions are great. Plus I have a recommendation for a show that I think you guys would love. It's called Hell on Wheels it's made by AMC and it's really well done.
The English and the North men have their drama from time to time, but the French nobles have adopted perpetual drama as a way of life.
i cant believe they are close and yet so far from what is gonna happen
Next three episodes 🤯
Because y’all are Game of Thrones fans, I recommend you check out the recent Netflix trailer for The Witcher - it may be something that interests you.
Hell yeah
If the History channel is trying to be somewhat consistent with reality, then I'm almost certain Rollo is the bear, because historically he married a princess back in the day and the marriage lead to the conversion of Scandinavia
you gotta watch the extended episodes
Be prepared for Vikings 2.0 to begin in next episode and be prepared to forget that Game Of Thrones ever even existed.
Davie Henry Vikings is a great show but it’s nothing compared to GOT lol
@@korbino5174 Vikings had a budget of probably $10 a season for season 1 and 2, *sarcasm* infact the creator didn't even expect it to go past season 1. GoT had a budget of what from Season 1-8? I'm guessing it was in the 10's of millions a season, probably higher. Game of Thrones season 8.... $90+ million. Season 3 was the first season of Vikings where they actually put some decent money into it and you can actually tell. Give Vikings a budget from season 1-6 like GoT had and see which show would turn out better.
Make the next episode a 2 parter! It’s sooo good!
Eckbert is playing the great game
So excited for next episode! 😄⚔️
vikings forever
Im not gonna spoil but you are really overthinking that prophecy. Make it simple. Black Sails edvertisement btw - best show.
Try to remember the cross and what he said to Aethelstan posthumously as the season comes to an end.
U have a great way if putting Facts to History! And your sense of humor is right on#!!!!!!
@@mericiaslaughter4494 Well....I´m from Vienna and we Viennese tend to put our anger into satire simply to get on with it. That´s our general stereotype for what we are known for (besides other stereotypes) but for that matter it is also the truth.
You guys should do sopranos or boardwalk empire
Theres ALWAYS an anterior motive with Ragnars ideas. ALWAYS. He stepped down from leading the road for a reason

Heads up, almost all who watches thinks Emperor Charles is the king of France despite them saying he's the West Roman Emperor. I guess it's our modern understanding of things that messes some of us up. They are in Francia, part of the Roman Empire.
In reality he was the emperor of all the Holy Roman Empire, but only for 7 years. And he was called Charles the Fat. Actual history right here: "Usually considered lethargic and inept-he is known to have had repeated illnesses and is believed to have suffered from epilepsy-he twice purchased peace with Viking raiders, including at the infamous Siege of Paris (885-886) which led to his downfall."
Normandy. Means Northman. Hint hint.
No To SPOILERS PLEASE ! Separately Like many rulers the emperor in this historic fiction is like King Alle in Northumbria is a combination of several rulers.
My greetings to this beautiful couple! Please, you have to watch Sense8 and the handmaid's tale!! You will loose your minds!!
Truly hoping they'll pick up both series, though Sense8 might be a bit difficult to edit due to the more suggestive scenes and Handmaid's Tale might be a bit much emotionally for Nikki. Still, both are amazing series. Fingers crossed! 🤞🏽😝
@@kima_95 You are absolutely right!!🤞😊
Athelstans journal was awesome short but sweet
Please watch the last kingdom! They have 3 seasons so far, and they are currently filming season 4! It's pretty much similar to vikings!
