Andrew Stagg honestly the worst WrItInG in the entire show, I was almost done with Vikings over that and his story in the next two episodes just because of how rushed and ridiculous it was
@@omar_elattar.6500 Here comes the paid History employee haha Athelstan was a non-violent monk, who was a complete opposite to Ragnar except in the greater picture of the world. Heahmund is basically the Christian version of Floki's mind in Rollo's body. Let me remind you that Ragnar hated Floki's extreme religious thoughts and Rollo's brutish actions. So no, Ragnar would have killed him as simply as he did to Aelle's brother or to any other general Christian warrior.
Andrew Stagg Lool I’ve got my problems with Season 5, quite a few actually. It was far from the best season of Vikings and I understand some of the complaints made because I make them myself. What does that mean though? You’re talking about Ragnar saving Athelstan as if Ragnar found Heahmund too? This is Lagertha we’re talking about. And despite the situations being different, wouldn’t you question why a Saxon Priest is fighting for Ivar? Maybe you’d want answers first before maybe killing him.
Don't make the mistake of thinking only Ivar is super smart. As I said in an earlier video, they all have Ragnar's traits, just different ones are predominant for each son. Ivar is great with strategy, but that doesn't mean the other sons are not Also don't forget that Bjorn was with Ragnar on almost all his journeys. He definitely learned a lot from him. Ubbe and Hvitserk were also on the last raid to Paris to observe.
Heahmund got hit in the back with a hammer that probably broke some of his ribs and knocked the wind out of him completely, then took a slashing cut to his back armor that probably did little or nothing. The guy that swung the sword quickly moved on to a new target because Heahmund was already falling down and out of the fight.
Aight so this is very late, BUT. My take on Ivar is that he did mean not wanting to fight, until he realised his brothers weren't going to accept him back, and so he turned it into he was faking it, and went forward with the battle. If you pay attention to his voice and body language, it's much more muted, which isn't how he tends to be when he's being more performative, or faking something. The way he goes to Ubbe makes me think he *wanted* to be accepted back as family, but Ubbe was sort of dismissive, only accepting of the truce and not his brother which, (spoilers for the end of the season) he does again with Hvitserk after the Siege of Kattegat. Thus, Ivar realised he would never be part of the Sons of Ragnar again, and so he stayed against them! Just my feelings on this but yeah :)
They could have sent emissaries and also some hostages but ultimately sending Halfdan and Hvitserk was doing both anyway and already basically had happened by meeting with those people. They both have authority to speak which is why they were the ones to meet in the field anyway and they're high value to the leaders of the armies. Also remember what Bjorn taught his brothers before England. It doesn't matter how many plans of Ivar's have worked til now, in failure is where you learn the most.

Yep, this battle felt more "real". Movies usually make medieval battles look epic, beautiful and heroic. They were not. Not a nice gallant fight with knights in shiny armour :)

Ivar sent Vitsärk and King Harald out because he wanted them to die so all of his enemies against the thrown would die as well. Amazing acting so it was hard to notice at first.

I don't know why they even tried to negotiate with Ivar knowing he wouldn't back down from killing Lagertha. They must have known this.
I hope Flatnose performs an Edge-o-Matic next season.
I can't wait for episode 18... There's my second personal favourite scene of the show... 10 episodes left ❤️
TEAM IVAR
Headmund is Lagertha's Athelstan
best figthers in order
1st bjorn and bishop heahmund draw
2nd lagatha
3rd king harald ubba and halfdan draw
4th ivar and astrid
Ofcourse im going *TEQUILA*
Yep, this battle felt more "real". Movies usually make medieval battles look epic, beautiful and heroic. They were not. Battles were a bunch of tired, dirty, sweaty people covered in blood and mud slashing and bashing trying to survive, people dying with their guts out and shitting themselves, arms and limbs cut off... Not a nice gallant fight with knights in shiny armour :)
Ubbe > Hvitserk
To answer your question who is the better fighter Steve
Actually Hvitserk was the best fighter out of all of the sons of ragnar, better than bjorn. Do your research. According to real history he was the best
@@marius8921
No. According to the sagas ubbe was the strongest. And anyone who has caught up to the series would never say Hvitserk is above ubbe considering Hvitserk is not beating ubbe's last opponent he fought in a 1 vs 1
@@puertoricanprince7690 Im not talking about the series im talking about REAL history, Hvitserk was the best fighter not the strongest but the best. Brute strength dosent mean that they are the best fighter does it? Read urself up on some history buddy
@@marius8921
There is a simple way to settle this. Tho I have no idea why you even mentioned the actual historical figures anyway when I was simply talking about the series
But if Hvitserk was above Bjorn and Ubbe as you claim then you should have no problem quoting source material to substantiate your claim
@@matthewwilson4331
I'll agree as far as most entertaining since he is my fav fighter but best ? Hell no
I need you after vikings to watch Agents of Shield or Black Sails :)
It would be a shame to follow Vikings up with anything besides The Last Kingdom. The two shows go together like Peanut butter & Jelly.
Black sails I say
no! Fargo
Close to 100k yoo!!
WTH....he saying family is more important but it's ok for Ragnar's sons to fight each other. That should have told Ivar everything he needed to know.
Hey are you guys planning on reacting to El Camino? Even though it’s feature length, you could break it into multiple parts.
Steve answered this on the community section of the channel. Long story short, no.
Gareth Lawton shame.
From all of the reaction channels I watch, you know what show never gets recommended that I think should, it's been on for mad seasons now..I think 9...American Horror Story.
I'm all for The Boys, The Expanse, Agents of Shield, Man in in High Castle and many others. I just think AHS gets overlooked a ton.
xerozeven Agree and so does HTGAWM - How To Get Away With Murder
@@celeste1737 yep, that's a good one. If I'm being honest, one of the best shows on t.v. these days.
Don't f with Edge. haha Oh I can't wait until 5b. lol
Letssss GO!!!!!
Episode 10 is pretty fire too! Great reaction!
Hahahaha Nikki got a post trauma in this vikings battle XDDD
Well the icelandic Implemented their THING (read Ting) the mode et assembly or parlaient of the world .......si Floki idéal age historically fondée even if that comes later.....
Team Ivar
Hey nikki hey steven. Great show again you are both awsome! Quick question? Will you be reacting to the season 6 trailer when you catch up this season?
They most probably will since they'll be done with season 5 before season 6 airs unless something weird happens.
I hate that they had to went through with battle my gosh
December 4 new season, season 6 can’t wait 🤘
If a fight had actually happened during their standoff, Ivar's side would have lost once and for all, and he and Harald would be out of everyone's hair. Unfortunately it was under a peace banner.
Yeah Alfred is pretty great isn't he
Bran needs to stay in his own show.
I like this episode. Like very much. The ambush in the forest is awesome!
Ivar is the bad guy ? 'cause he wan't kill the woman who kill his mother ? i don't think so
Ivar sent Vitsärk and King Harald out because he wanted them to die so all of his enemies against the thrown would die as well.
Amazing acting so it was hard to notice at first.
JUST REACT TO EL CAMINO ALREADY! DO MULTIPLE VIDEOS IF YOU HAVE TO BUT JUST FUCKING REACT TO IT!
We aren’t reacting to it
Nikki & Steven React 😭
Please tell me your going to watch the new breaking bad movie
Absolutely. Just trying to find the 2 hours.
@@NikkiStevenReact also your new vid is privet if you didn't know
I HATE that they made the sami people act like warriors... They are the native people of northern europe, they have never been warriors.. Princess Snøfrid (The girl that Bjørn slept with) married King Harald fairhair (stupidface) and died during childbirth...
You guys have got to watch The Last Kingdom.
It is SOOOO much better than Vikings.
Meh, it's boring
Their all in this situation because of lagertha.
Have you seen season 6 trailer if not you should react to it, i believe it premieres Dec 4th
Why would they react to that before finishing season 5? Lol seems like a strange request 🤷♀️
I don’t believe I had given a time frame for them to react to it
Lol ok
Tayla Felton lol your obviously a just a trolling hater do us a favor and go away
Wow pretty sad if you think that was hate, maybe try not to be offended by a simple question next time 👍
Ivar is a mad man 😂
Please, please can you guys watch the vikings season 6 (final season) trailer! Obviously no rush, take your time. But please react to it, it's so good.
they still got some episodes to go
They got a whole other month to go for that lol, you take your time with patience
