Finally picked up the Arrow video releases of Conan the Barbarian and Destroyer on 4K this weekend. I was really happy with the transfers! I was shocked at how much new detail I could make out.
Also picked up the Steelbook versions of the original Star Trek TV series. They were an upgrade over my DVDs. Loving them too!
Looking forward to Bringing Out the Dead!
You need to see the Last Temptation of Christ. I almost bought the Criterion disc this weekend. It's an incredible film.
I also bought the Criterion Blu-ray discs of The Spy Who Came in from the Cold and Mean Streets on 4K!
I’m glad you enjoyed the Conan movies on 4K. Those were great releases and your right the detail is incredible! I know I have to see the last temptation of Christ, it’s one of my big bind spots lol. I just listened to a podcast on it a couple months ago too lol. I should just get it in the Criterion sale lol. One day i’ll tackle the original Star Trek series Jason lol

Some of my disks from the DVD Superman Ultimate Collection went bad. It was from 2006 during the period that plant in Pennsylvania was putting out bad WB DVD disks that are now found to rot as a result. So a few month ago I hunted down The Superman Motion Picture Anthology Blu Ray set from 2011.It ports over everything from the DVD set plus adds the original opening to Superman Returns. Even if I could play 4K,I wouldn't of gotten the recent Superman films 4k set (and it comes with Blu Rays too) because it's missing too much content including Superman Returns.
Yeah not having too Superman returns in there makes no sense to me. I get it’s not good but I still wanted since that’s the only one i’m missing now. I can’t believe you had did rot. I haven’t experienced that yet lol
@@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia Superman Returns follows the continuity of the Chris Reeve films so it really belongs there. The 4K set is also missing the Director's Cut of Superman The Movie. The 2011 Blu Ray set has both cuts and both commentaries.(and the T.V. cut which is the longest version got its own official Blu Ray release in 2017 which I also have)
A lot of people have had their DVD's WB rot from that period. From 2006-2009.Some of the disks from Smallville Season 6 have gone bad too.I lucked out there since I broke my rule for a special case and bought Smallville: The Complete Series DVD set when it came out in 2011.I bought it more as a collector's item but in this case, it worked out since the DVD disks in the set are all newer pressings from when it came out in 2011. Plus, the complete series set was released on Blu Ray in 2021 and re-released again in back in February.So people can still easily replace any bad DVD sets.
I know The 1990's Flash Complete series DVD set was one of the ones that had disks rot due to that PA plant. Like Smallville though, it was released on DVD a few years later with a new pressing and those disks have been fine for people. It was just released on Blu Ray for the first time last week via WB Archive which came in for me on Wed. (never had it on DVD).With my father's passing and dealing with that ,not really interested in watching any of my physical media that's been coming in. I've just sort of put them on the side of a table for now. Just watching video's like yours and chatting here is a welcomed breather from that.
One of the disks from Lois & Clark The New Adventures of Superman Season 4 has also gone bad. The problem there and problem other people have had, is there is no Blu Ray releases or newer DVD pressing. Unless it gets a future Blu Ray release (maybe via WB Archives),there is no way to replace the bad disks. The only thing out there are the same bad sets from that PA plant
I'm still keeping the Superman films DVD set though because i love the packaging. It's in this metal tin with the S shield from the Reeve movies on one side and Superman Returns on the other .Inside the disks are in a thick digibook with very nice disk art. The digi book is housed inside a gorgeous lenticular slip of Superman flying up through the S shield and breaking it into pieces .It also come with a nice booklet going over what's on each disk and a comic book reprint.
So while some of the disks have rotted ,the packaging, I've kept in mint condition and won't part with it .I really like the 2011Blu Ray packaging but the 2006 DVD packaging is next level IMO.
@lioneljacobs6874 I’m glad the videos can help your through this really hard time buddy. I can’t imagine what you’re going through. Your Physical media will be there when you’re ready. Thanks for that info on DVD rot. I’ve only heard about it and never experienced it myself because my entire DVD collection I had was lost when I moved out of my mom’s house about 15 years ago.
For the Friday the 13th box set, what I heard (on a different channel) and also read, the remake blu ray wasn’t even made by shout factory.
What happened was they couldn’t get the rights from (Lions gate) whoever, so scream factory bought a load of blu rays and just slapped them in their cases and then put them in the box set
If that’s true then that’s a crazy way to go about that lol. It looks like we’re getting the full treatment now!

Now that’s a fantastic list. I heard Rumours for the Kill Bills and Jackie Brown. So hopefully we get those. We really need Glass Onion but you know Netflix. Unless it’s something worthy of the Criterion collection we won’t get it. But let’s hope.

I forgot Pirates!! That should have been on my list. And I just watched the first one on blu ray too lol. Jurassic Park is one I don’t love but just missed the cut for me. Forest Gump is disappointing too. I don’t know why it’s so dark. I was hoping this new Steelbook would brighten it up.
@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia I got all the Pirates of the Carrebean movies on blu ray for £8 and they want me to pay £80 for that disaster of a 4k dnr rubbish l?!?!!! No chance! I'm happy with my blu rays thank you 😊
@021om6 Yepe me too! Their more then good and their better then the Disney plus stream which says 4K for all of the movies lol
ALIENS blu-ray is good transfer and better to keep it than double dipping. But if you don't ither then I would get the 4k.
TORSO 4K is day 1!

Man I Really hope the Friday the 13th 4K is great the original was terrible on 4K way too dark and hard to tell
That’s exactly why I didn’t get that 4K lol. I hope it’s brighter, Plus it is Arrow video.

SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER 4k is a must avoid at all cost! The dvd is better and a blu-ray comes in the 4k package, and you will wind up watching that instead of the 4k.
That’s why I never bought it lol. Heard nothing but bad things. That sucks too. A classic deserves better r

Ok I gotta ask, where do you get those screensavers on your TV from? My 77" OLED is crying.
All I do is going on youtube and type in OLED safe backgrounds lol. Just so they’re always moving around. I can send you someone links if you want but if you search it on youtube their the first ones usually recommend.

Yeah, I definitely miss Matt also..You guys just worked when together..The one I can’t get into and I’m sure he’s a great guy is Frank from Franks Media..He’s Just tough for me to watch .
I was just on the phone with him and was telling him about how people want to see him again and he agreed to do a video in the future. So hopefully this summer. Yeah Frank is a great guy and one of my really good friends but ain’t respect your opinion. Not everyone is everybody. I’m sure he gets that too. I’m sure there’s plenty of people that don’t like my style. It is what it is lol

I live the Truman show but I agree as far as his comedies go all we really got was Bruce almighty and that one is good but not like his early stuff
