Asics has been such a big surprise for me in the recent years, they are really now the most consistent and reliant brand at the moment. The Novablast 4 - Superblast 2 - Metaspeed Edge Paris is one of my Favorite running shoes rotation ever. The Metaspeed helped me smash my half marathon records down to 1:25, training in the Superblast is Super fun and daily miles in Novablast is just easy and no fuss. Well done Asics!
Tested the wr3 at the Amsterdam marathon expo. Was pretty good! Stable and cushioned, felt fast. Price was €240, I didn’t to not buy, but in hindsight I might should have. It was a fun shoe
Yeah! Just noticed it too! I thought you were not going to review that! I am glad you picked it up! Looking forward the review because I was a very big fun of Fly flyknit before the model took the downhill.
I'm still clicking along quite happily in my Wave Rebellion Pro 1s. They are by far the most fun shoe in my rotation and I've not tried anything quite like them. That said, my personal use case for them is quite limited and I probably never would've tried them out had they not been over 50% off retail. Still, a marvel at what can be achieved in a running shoe. I like what they're doing over at Mizuno!
Always happy to catch up on news from my go-to road shoe shoetuber, thanks Edd! (And before anyone asks, Conversational Pace and Run4Adventure are it for trail shoes). And that BMRC album slaps. I was working in a music shop when it came out and got to thrash it in-store. Good times.

Some brands release specific versions of running shoes for specific regions due to economic reasons. We get similar treatment from brands like New Balance and Puma at the moment. New Balance's most expensive shoe was Rebel v4 on the online store. Everything else cheaper models maybe you never heard of. Puma used to sell their devaite nitro elite 1 and 2 but 3 never came. Not even Deviate Nitro 3 showed up. Their most expensive shoe is velocity nitro 3 at the moment. Also, due to recent changes in customs laws Nike completely stopped shipping products here in Turkey. Different tax and customs laws force brands to take different approaches to specific regions and on top of that exchange rates in countries like Brazil determine which product is available to you.
Hi Ed, yes i was going to ask about the zoomfly in the background... i stopped when you pointed it out! Anyways, very good selection... will see how you find them! The next most interesting shoes that I am curious about are the low stacked Nike Streakfly 2 and Adidas adios 9! Need some fast racing flats!!
The Wave Rebellion Pro 3 was on the feet of several prominent RUclipsrs in Amsterdam last weekend but oddly none of them really mentioned the shoe at all. Have to assume it is not worthy. I have had all the Novablast versions but not sure about going again. I found myself reaching for them less and less. Look forward to the Zoom Fly 6 review. Your Strava seems to suggest might be better than we might have thought after the previous bricks. Well hard to be worse than the 3 and 5 !
Dankeschön! I ran in the Nova 4, but went back to the Nova 3. I ran in the Nimbus 26, but went back to the 25. I ran in the Tri Noosa 16 and went back to the 15... call me old fashioned 😂 It´s always interesting to try new models, but some older ones, they feel just better on your foot 😄 Ineresting review!
The Drive RC was developed in Brazil by the Adidas Brazil team and manufactured there as well. It seems to be basically a take-down of the Boston 12 (with similar glass fiber rods, upper design, but a stiffer foam) to reach a targeted price range. This model is intended to be an alternative to Brazilian-plated shoes like the Fila Racer Carbon 2 (carbon fiber plate), Olympikus Corre Supra (carbon fiber plate), and Olympikus Corre Grafeno (graphene plate), which are currently very successful in Brazil. I saw an interview with the product manager of the Adidas Drive RC, and she mentioned that the Drive RC was originally designed to be sold only in Brazil, but it will be available in other countries in the future.
For now the Adizero Drive RC is made in Brazil and it cost the same of a basic Nova Blast 4. It is a super trainer that cost less. It seems that the LiteStrike is done thing in between the first generation and the LiteStrike 2.0. I haven't tried them, but for the price seems awesome and it is indeed faster then a Boston 12.
Yay for the novablast for me. Nay for the rest. Ironically got the rejection for the lottery for the Evo SL and then opened IG and saw the ad for the Novablast. Asics get the money since Adidas wants to play scarcity games
Looking forward to the Zoom Fly review. I'd given up on the Zoom Fly line, but with hints of The Jolly Boys Outing maybe some magic can bring us back together 🪄 Mine's a Tia Maria and Lucozade.
I've pretty much retired my first pair of the flyknit at 858km. I do have a box fresh pair but they're light cream/university red/ sapphire black. They might have to wait till next summer / good weather.
About the specific Adidas for specific regions, they just re-released the Adizero PR, which at the time was a Japanese only shoe, therefore it isn't a new trend. They managed to stabilize Lightstrike PRO alone, without rods or torsion system (Adizero Evo SL, Adizero Adios 9), so simple Lightstrike is soon going the way of the dodo. They probably have to empty the Lightstrike inventory.
Edd, I've always wondered what really happened after your raving review of the WRP1. I can hardly remember you've ever considered the Flash 2, Neo Vista or WRP2 for review. It would have also been interesting to know why the WRP1 did not work out for you after the very positive initial impressions. Something like a second look at this shoe. Btw, the "drop" measurements of Mizuno in the Rebellion series are rather theoretical in nature since the geometry (regarding the angle that the foot sits in the shoe) is rather special. DoR has a video with the Mizuno design team, which was really interesting.
I also thought when buying my Novablast 4 TR: If the TR version with slightly thicker rubber, which results in slightly deeper grooves exists, why should I buy the normal Novablast 4? Because of like 15g less? Pffffff
So Running Warehouse did a video with Mizuno here in the US, the new "Enerzy Lite XP" is a Peba based superfoam. According to them it returns more energy than the previous Enerzy Lite+ and the shoe looks to be more stable this time! Should be an interesting ride-retails for $250 in the US.
Asics Japan are teasing a new shoe release on X so I guess that's for the new Novablast 5 about to drop at the beginning of Nov perhaps? I've got along with all versions of the Novablast. I think they've all been good. Definitely a Yea for the 5th version. All others mentioned are a Nay from me. I would try the new Hoka Cielo X1 2.0 but the price is way out of my budget. You have to draw a line at some point regarding upper price and they fall way outside my upper limit.
I hope the novablast 5 goes back to being soft and bouncy like versions 1 and 2. Version 3 and 4 were still peppy, but they lost a bit of the magic for me.
The adidas drive RC is a Brazilian release, focusing on offering a cheaper super trainer there to compete with local brands with a lower price than other models like the Boston... It has lightstrike 1.0 + plastic rods ... So not sure how good it is... It seems that the development was all done by adidas Brazil
I have the Mizuno Pro Pro V1 and V2. V1 great even at slow pace but V2 is terrible for anything below Threshold.. Upper fit is amazing in both and the outsole is phenomenal. If V3 geometry is extreme like V2 it's a non starter for me 😂
@i.p2088 I agree. I have the V1 and V2 and feel the same. Absolutely love the V1 but the V2 is uncomfortable going at slower speeds. The cushioning is crazier in the V2 but the plate angle is more aggressive so doesn't work for my footstrike as well as V1. V3 seems similar to V2 so I guess I'll have to pass too.
@@dominicmanning4512 That's what I anticipated but was surprised it wasn't an issue for me and I tend to heel strike as I get tired too. I have my HM PB in the shoe so have a bit of a soft spot for it. I ran a half marathon the other day in a pair of Nike VF originals and tore up the ZoomX in the heel a little there. Still to this day, what a great shoe! If you do get the Pro V1 make sure you half size up. I'm US9.5 in VF and Metaspeed Paris but had to go US10 for V1 of the Mizuno Pro. V2 fits true to size though.
Any recommendations for something with the same feel as the prime x strung but doesn't want to snap my ankles?? I'm hoping the zoom fly 6 maybe similar?
A month ago it was said that the Novablast 5 is comming in december 2024. If 1st december or not, I don't know.
