I had treatment for non-alcoholic fatty liver in May/June and was not allowed any medication during that time. I eat low carb and took 500 mg Metformin before, but was under high stress. My weight is normal. The fat around the liver was greatly reduced, but my blood glucose levels have been out of whack ever since. Between 12 and below 7 in one day sometimes is exhausting. I take 1 g of Metformin/day now, but I’m trying to bring it down faster. My GP is not really specialised in diabetes, so soldiering on with these tips.
Appreciate your honest experience sharing, @evadeenbrickwood6682. Lifestyle habits, especially diet and exercise, are crucial in managing blood sugar levels. It can be challenging but never lose hope and stay consistent. Also, consider seeking a doctor who specializes in diabetes management for personalized advice. Best of luck!
Ask your general practitioner for a referral to an endocrinologist. They specialize in diabetes. My diabetes wasn't under control (for over 10 years) until I started seeing one.
Ditch the metformin and just eat healthy…spend time eating chicken salad, eat lots of zucchini, cucumber, salary, green apples, pineapple, blue berrys. Detox your stomach.. my A1c was 15.2 now it’s 5.8 in only 2months
@@darrellkizzee4165 thank you for taking the time to give me advice 🙏🏻. I have been eating like this for a long time, but I didn’t know that the Metformin was poisoning me. So, I’ll have to detox and bring down the glucose levels with other medication and reverse the side effects, then I’m going to maintain with diet and Berberine when necessary and keeping stress under control. All the best to you!
You could do the carnivore diet and still experience insulin resistance. That is something that does not just go away even if your diabetes reverses. Diabetes for a lot of people can be controlled with diet why take medications for the rest of your life that has side effects that can harm you.
DR SAID:"Eat small dinner with no carbs. Be hydrated during the day. Exercise because the benefits of exercise will last for 24 hours to keep the blood sugar down all night. " I think as soon as I wake up in the morning, I do yoga for one hour right away in my bedroom. Will this flush out sugar. DR? Thank you. You are the best.
Your routine sounds great! Eating smaller meals, staying hydrated, and incorporating exercise like yoga are all excellent steps to help manage blood sugar levels. Keep up the good work, and always monitor how your body responds to these habits. Feel free to adjust as needed for your health goals!
Blood sugar highest first thing in the morning (100 - 120...maybe 125) and generally drops during the day after eating, even with little activity. Sometimes is lowest in the morning after a higher carb dinner and / or eating later than usual. A lot with me seems counter-intuitive.
It's quite common for blood sugar levels to fluctuate, especially after eating or with activity levels. Morning highs can often be attributed to the body's natural hormonal changes that occur overnight, which can lead to increased glucose production. If you notice consistent patterns or have concerns about your levels, it might be beneficial to discuss this with your healthcare provider for tailored advice. Keep track of how different foods and activities impact your readings; that can help in managing your blood sugar more effectively!
@louishaddon4351, you're correct! Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) has properties that can help manage blood sugar levels. Just remember, though, it's not a cure-all and should be part of a balanced lifestyle. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Doctor, is there any such thing as resistant starch? I have experimented with cooked rice left in the fridge for 12 to 15 hours then heated and eaten with veggies/lentils etc. As compared to a freshly cooked bowl of rice, I did notice lesser sugar spike in the left over rice. What is your view on this?
I have done this with mashed potatoes, and even reheated they did not cause as much of a spike, and drinking ACV with a glass of water before eating helped a little more.
My cortisol levels are permanently out of sync so that they peak just before bed and are at their lowest 7-8 in the morning, meaning my sleep cycle is out of sync. Tried everything but now only sleeping tablets or melatonin helps me fall asleep and it’s rarely quality sleep
I work third shift so my sleep is totally screwed up. Sometimes I can’t sleep and have to go to work without sleeping at all. Other times I might just get a few hours of sleep. It’s interesting to hear that sleep can raise your blood sugar. Also, at 2am I’m just going to lunch.
Working third shift can definitely disrupt your sleep patterns and affect overall health, including blood sugar levels. Lack of sleep can lead to insulin resistance and higher blood sugar levels, making it even more important to prioritize rest when you can. Since you're having lunch at 2 AM, try to focus on balanced meals that include protein, healthy fats, and fiber to help stabilize your blood sugar. If possible, create a calming bedtime routine to help signal to your body that it’s time to wind down, even if you’re sleeping during the day. Small adjustments, like darkening your room and limiting screen time before bed, can also help improve your sleep quality. If sleep issues persist, consider talking to a healthcare provider for tailored strategies to manage both your sleep and blood sugar levels.
Berberine and moringa are both known for their potential benefits in helping regulate blood sugar levels. Berberine, in particular, has been studied for its effects on improving insulin sensitivity and lowering blood sugar. Moringa, rich in antioxidants, also has properties that may support blood sugar management.
My blood sugar checked 2-3 AM is 86 to 98 about 3-5 days a week other days 110-125. I take cinnamon at noon & bed time. Knee problems & meals aren't always diabetic friendly, but control as best as possible.
You're very welcome! It's great to see that you found the information helpful. If you have any more questions or need further advice, feel free to reach out anytime. Stay healthy and take care! 😊
1:42 Hi Doctor. My fasting insulin level is 17.5 MU/L and my fasting glucose level is 7.0 mmol/L. Resulting HOMA IR of 5.4. I'm taking insulin of 34 units, 1000mg metformin and 100mg vildagliptin day and night. Should I increase my medication since my IR is high ?? TQ 🙏
A HOMA-IR of 5.4 indicates significant insulin resistance, which can be concerning. It’s important to discuss medication adjustments with your healthcare provider, as they can consider your full medical history and current treatment plan. While some people may need to increase their medication dosage to manage insulin resistance effectively, this decision should be made with professional guidance to ensure safety and effectiveness. Additionally, discussing lifestyle changes, such as diet and exercise, may also help improve your insulin sensitivity. Please reach out to your doctor to discuss your options further. Take care!
@Simplegirl5251 the apple cider vinegar can be helpful but it's not a cure-all. Always discuss with your doctor before adding new supplements to your regimen.
A couple of squeezes of lemon or lime juice (bottle or actual fruit) in a coffee cup and dilute with water to about 3/4 full and drink deliberately don't sip ❤ Has work wonders for me for years😎 Also Unsweet black tea (Earl Grey) is also helpful
I could have a glucose level between 148 to 200 2 hrs after dinner. But, 10 to 12hrs later, my morning glucose level (before breakfast), can be between 93 to 95. Is that alright? Thanks...
Could you help me understand when you are saying to do low-carb at dinner or no carb; are you referring to high carb vegetables or refined carbs? I am learning on how to carb count and I am getting very confused because fruits and vegetables also contain carbs. I am a diabetic type two so I need like to understand better on what type of carbs I need to stay away from.
Hey @chrystidao-nguyen9638, I suggest staying away from refined carbs, that spike your blood sugar quickly. Aim for also small amount of complex carbs present in whole fruits, veggies, and grains, as they're processed slower by your body. Watch my video on 'Carb Counting for Diabetics' for a comprehensive guide!
So just starting to figure out things here , just diagnosed as pre diabetic, my primary care said my glucose levels were high , 🤔 now I had to fast 8 hours before getting my blood work done and all my appointments were early in the morning , my blood levels were high according to the results , I never thought about what I ate before getting the blood work done as I had figured before that in eight hours my levels should be normal or down considerably before tests 🫲🏼😳🫱🏼 they weren’t so now my doctor is reading my high levels and making his diagnosis off of it , I went and got a glucose meter and I’ll be watch my levels a lot closer to find out what’s really going on 🤔
It sounds like you're on the right track by taking proactive steps to monitor your blood sugar levels. Using a glucose meter will give you better insights into your daily trends and help you understand how your body responds to food and fasting. Keep up with your appointments and continue tracking your progress-this approach will be helpful in managing and improving your condition.
Rule of thumb: 1-2 hours before going to bed. You know your body best. I have a herbal tea about a half hour before going to .. I'm fine. Whether I get up 1X or 2X or 3x in a night doesn't bother me - I have no problems going back to sleep.
I drink an 18oz cup of water before bed…. Around 3 am, I’m up for the bathroom…. Doesn’t bother me at all to wake up….but I stay hydrated. When you’re thirsty…….. you’re already dehydrated.
I’m doing carb control like 20 carbs max daily and jogging five times a week 20 minutes each time . Drinking plenty of water and eating by 6-6:30 .. still so far haven’t got my numbers down enough. Some progress but not enough.. yet !!

I have a problem where if I don't eat a serving of carbs before bed, my stomach starts growling and wakes me up hungry. If I eat protein instead, my stomach is really active and I have a hard time falling asleep for that reason. So it's like eat carbs before bed or no sleep for me. So I eat about 20 gr of carbs (one measured serving of cheese-its) before bed.
Thanks for sharing your experience! It sounds like you’ve found a balance that works for you by eating a small serving of carbs before bed to help prevent hunger and promote better sleep. Sometimes our bodies respond differently to carbs versus protein, and it's great that you've identified what helps you avoid discomfort during the night. Everyone’s needs are a little different, so it’s important to keep tuning in to your body and adjusting as needed. If you continue to experience issues with sleep or digestion, it might be helpful to consult a healthcare professional to explore other options that may work even better for your routine.
Great question! 😊 Lowering cortisol levels naturally can involve various methods, such as regular physical activity, practicing relaxation techniques like deep breathing or meditation, getting enough sleep, and maintaining a healthy diet rich in fruits and vegetables. It’s always a good idea to consult with a healthcare professional for personalized advice. If you’re looking for specific supplements, our team can guide you as well! People, don’t worry about the Dawn Phenomenon as that actually helps burn fat… My personal experience but like the Doc says, eat less carbs with dinner than lunch…
@greenevans50, yes it's safe, but watch the portions. They are high in carbs and can raise your blood sugar if eaten in excess. A balanced diet is key!

Good information here...I'm type2 diabetic
Thank you, for this information ❤
You're welcome, @annettefowler4704! Keep watching for more informative content. ❤
@@pettytoni1955 thank you for your reply. I have figured out that I can no longer tolerate Metformin. Different approach now.
Where's the part about flushing the sugar out
I was just about to make a comment like yours. I thought I missed it but obviously I didn't
It’s at 6:50. Jardiance and Farxiga
You could do the carnivore diet and still experience insulin resistance. That is something that does not just go away even if your diabetes reverses. Diabetes for a lot of people can be controlled with diet why take medications for the rest of your life that has side effects that can harm you.
@@TheMartuco Glad I read the comments first.
Lots of many other information in the video. Watch the whole thing
DR SAID:"Eat small dinner with no carbs. Be hydrated during the day. Exercise because the benefits of exercise will last for 24 hours to keep the blood sugar down all night. "
I think as soon as I wake up in the morning, I do yoga for one hour right away in my bedroom.
Thank you
Thank you Doc, God bless and stay safe.
Thank you very much.😊
Very good information
Glad you found it helpful, @AKN30057! Stay tuned for more.
ACV will help stabilize blood sugar numbers
Is ACV taken once in the morning or before every meal ? Just asking.
@@louishaddon4351 Thanks.I'm trying my best.
@louishaddon4351, you're correct! Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) has properties that can help manage blood sugar levels. Just remember, though, it's not a cure-all and should be part of a balanced lifestyle. Thanks for sharing!
Very good doctor for us

Hi Doctor, is there any such thing as resistant starch? I have experimented with cooked rice left in the fridge for 12 to 15 hours then heated and eaten with veggies/lentils etc. As compared to a freshly cooked bowl of rice, I did notice lesser sugar spike in the left over rice. What is your view on this?
They say same thing with pasta.
I have done this with mashed potatoes, and even reheated they did not cause as much of a spike, and drinking ACV with a glass of water before eating helped a little more.
You just gotta be careful how it’s aged
@@jeff6969 wait so eating food thats not readily made has less affects on raising blood sugar?
My cortisol levels are permanently out of sync so that they peak just before bed and are at their lowest 7-8 in the morning, meaning my sleep cycle is out of sync. Tried everything but now only sleeping tablets or melatonin helps me fall asleep and it’s rarely quality sleep
Thanks sugarMD - very interesting! I see nothing works overnight; T2D will have to follow carnivore for at least a week to see the results.
thank you doctor
This very informative. Thank you for

Berberin & moringa!
Berberine and moringa are both known for their potential benefits in helping regulate blood sugar levels. Berberine, in particular, has been studied for its effects on improving insulin sensitivity and lowering blood sugar. Moringa, rich in antioxidants, also has properties that may support blood sugar management.

Take care!
Very nice doctor. I always enjoy seeing your videos.
How come doctors never tell their patients about apple cider vinegar? Which helps lower blood sugar and pressure? 🤔
@Simplegirl5251 the apple cider vinegar can be helpful but it's not a cure-all. Always discuss with your doctor before adding new supplements to your regimen.

Explain the no workout after dinner comment
I could have a glucose level between 148 to 200 2 hrs after dinner. But, 10 to 12hrs later, my morning glucose level (before breakfast), can be between 93 to 95. Is that alright? Thanks...
Morning blood sugar looks good. It would be bad if you had a morning sugar of say 180 or 200
Depends on how you feel in the morning. It's okay to have a healthy snack at night if you think your morning sugar is low
Excellent

When I flush out sugar will it be reflected in my blood test, not the pin pric test, thanks
Hey Doctor, it seems to me you started looking younger recently, what did you do to yourself?😉
Thank you, doctor. Nice. S Chitrai Kani

Rule of thumb: 1-2 hours before going to bed.
