I'm new to your channel and I can say that you do such an amazing job in being clear and purposeful in your tutorials. You are direct and give clear instructions as well as give a reason why you are doing a specific thing. I really appreciate your tutorials and I hope to see more from you. A lot of people who do tutorials don't do them as clear as you do. Great job!
Thank you SO much, I genuinely thought I was going to go crazy trying to figure out how to get the displacement to work properly. I was beginning to think it wasn't an actual feature. Thank you for the steps!
G'day! That's so cool! Great to have some support nice and close to home :) Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a kind comment. That's great news! Thanks for the update. Have a great day!
For someone who's never made a single cg scape, don't watch videos related to cg art very often (and certainly haven't recently), and have a Dell Inspiron laptop that came of in 2008 and is barely functional online, won't run Chrome anymore, and am generally not set up for anything in this video, I'm here to praise the mighty algorythm for bringing me to a Blender tutorial with 700 views! Have a like fella!
that's great but the texture is a bit too repetitive. how would you generate a coverage texture based on steepness of the cliffs, so that we can repeat few different material on the surface?
Love tutorials from fellow Aussies! Yours are above and beyond mate, they’re pleasant to watch, easy to follow and super inspiring. Please keep them going! I’d love to see one where you bring your Blender worlds into Unreal Engine, if that’s something you like to do.
You can use quixel with blender free as well. Seach some tutorials here but it was as simple as selectin Blender from settings in Bridge, and intaslling the add-on in blender. works great.
@@defnotpb2 it can be a bit fussy. Check to see if the LOD you want is actually downloaded locally. Sometimes my import is trying to load level 3 but only level 5 exists. Also, try hitting file/import/megascans before importing from bridge. Failing that you can always import the fbx or obj from your local megascans library. You have to set up the material manually but it works when nothing else will.
I think that's a fantastic suggestion! I'll try and do a follow up tutorial on creating a more detailed Canyon environment. I've been doing some research on creating more realistic landscapes without putting too much of a load on your PC so shrubs and branchy trees would definitely go a long way and aren't too heavy on the GPU either.
Hey thanks for the tutorial, my first time round textures imported from bridge into the project showed up no worries now no imported textures will show up at all in blender, any ideas?
Hmm, do you have the Node Wrangler addon enabled inside of blender? You can check by going to Edit > Preferences > Addons > then searching for "Wrangler." Just make sure that box is ticked. Alternatively, it can also be caused by the naming of your custom textures, if you look under preferences in the node wrangler addon section, it features a list of naming conventions your textures need in order for blender to identify which node slot they need to be connected to - for instance your diffuse texture (Base colour) would need to be titled something to the effect of Texture_Diffuse or texture_diff. Hopefully that makes some sense? But if you still have any questions, please feel free to reply and let me know :)
Hey Space-Animated! Did you mean the blender file for the canyon in this tutorial? Or would you like a tutorial on how to create a mountain using Blender?
3840 x 2160 is NOT 4K - it is a general misconception. 3840 x 2160 is UHD, which is the double wide and the double length of HD (1920 x 1080). 4k is 4096 x 2160 it is the double wide and the double length of 2K (2048 x 1080). Its aspect ratio is 1.90∶1, which is slightly wider than UHD's 16x9. Sorry for nerding out on you ;)
scaling in the shader editor affects the material itself, so if you had multiple objects using that material then all of those objects will be affected by the scaling. If you scale with UV then only the object you're editing will be affected.
Oh no! What seems to be the problem you're having? Is it when you go to export the textures from Quixel Bridge to Blender? If it is, you can try downloading the latest Quixel plugin for blender - (just go to google and search "Quixel Blender Plugin" and it should bring up quixel.com/plugins) then just download the latest plugin (3.6) and go to blender > edit > preferences > addons > install and select the zip download (3.6.zip) That will reinstall the Quixel plugin. Then restart both blender and Quixel bridge (make sure to save your project first!) and you should be able to export with no dramas :) If that doesn't fix it or you have any other problems, feel free to let me know! Have a great day and hope that helps!
Great question Zimlo! I completely understand the dilemma. You can render this out in eevee, but with the current settings as they are, it would look quite poor compared to a cycles render. I would be happy to do a modified tutorial on how to render a scene like this in eevee if you would be interested? No stress.
@@alecdorfman4871 Oh really? Thank you so much, I'd love to check it out! My email is creativemediabasics@gmail.com if that helps? I really appreciate the offer again, thank you!
Why are you going through basic Blender settings? Every single video about Blender shows how to enable Nodewrangler e.g. Stop it!!! Your title is about "Easily Create Realistic Canyons in Blender 3.1" so stay on topic.
thanks uploader/Just the Basics...when I tried your steps using Evee (as I already have a requirement to use it's better glow/emission effect than cycles can produce), my canyon looks like a 'chocolate mudcake on steriods'..lmao... can you or any blender guru out there please help me on how to do your steps (including quixel bridge etc) but using eevee? Thanks again Uploader...fantastic post..and very easy to follow...
That's a great question! I'll do some research and see if it's possible to create something similar using only Eevee - stay tuned and I'll let you know how I go! Thanks for the support too :)
This does NOT show how to create canyons in Blender. This only shows how to use heightmap downloads and then use Quixel Bridge downloads. There are real tutorials out there that will teach people how to actually use Blender and how to actually model meshes and create materials and procedural textures. I ask that the person who posted this please delete all of your videos or delete your account.
Instantly knew this was the right tutorial when he bravely showed his scenes in close-up
And carefully hid the tiling lmao

Hello from NZ. This was very well explained. The Node Wrangler issues (normal and roughness) were fine for me in Blender version 3.2

Such a great video bro!! Thank you so much, probably the best tutorial I've seen. Subscribed!
Man, you are literally a life saver
You have officially inspired me to seriously learn Blender. Thank you, I'm very happy with the final product.

You're welcome! Thank you for you nice comment :)
this is interesting maybe i am gonna try this
Awesome Tutorial, easy to understand and great choice, keep it up 👍🏻😎
Thanks for the aussome tutorial! 😜👍
10:03 how did u open that orange type of thing? could u pls answer?
Thank you very nice tutorial
hello i use blender 3.2 and There isn't a displacement and bump in the materials
Literally just looking for a tutorial like this!!!! Thanks!!!
BEAUTIFUL! thank you so much man
Thank you, now I can make a fps shooter.
great tutorial. great addition to your rocky surface tutorial. have you any idea to make it look less repetive from far away?
Thanks!
I bet adding shrubs and branchy trees would add some variation and distract from some of the repeating textures.

what a chad this guy is
I'm gonna try this and i know damn well my laptop is gonna explode...but gonna try it nonetheless 😆😆 awesome tutorial btw 🤙🏽🤙🏽
Thank you!

do you possibly know the reason why quixel will auto fail a download. i just downloaded it and made an acct. and have blender plugin..
Great video!

I did everything but for some reason the frame of the camera that is shown in the perspective camera is not the same thing that is rendered.
After directly exporting from quixer I can't find asset on blender. Is there any other way for exporting?
Does anyone know why my pc crashes when i go to unwrap it? it could be my machine but its not like its low end.
DUDE ! when I press f12 to render it says : node output not found , can you explain that ?
Please make more videos like this
Attempting to do principle texture setup (CTRL SHIFT T) for custom textures but its not setting things up/importing them...any suggestions?

I can't found in material options a displecement :(
Did you know where is it on 3.4 blender version?
Hi! You need to switch from Eevee to Cycles render engine to be able to change this setting :)
What's the difference between scaling the UV map and scaling the X,Y,Z size in the Mapping node in the shader editor?
scaling in the shader editor affects the material itself, so if you had multiple objects using that material then all of those objects will be affected by the scaling. If you scale with UV then only the object you're editing will be affected.
@@Pieceoreece so if i have just one material, it dont matter. thank u, I was wondering the same as Bryan

Is it working on eevee too? I dont want to to use Cycles so slow to me because my pc is not that good

A year later and quixel bridge still doesn't care about blender 😢
