How can ANYONE not like Sugar Ray Leonard?? He’s awesome.
Sugar ray is like one of the only boxers who doesnt sound like hes been severly beat in the head
Because Ray was smart. He took a bunch of time off when the injures started to pile up

@@firefx99 I easily played with Duran the second fight.
@@kpj2224 people forget how close the first Duran fight was
Jnr doesn't use one style. In recent years he's perfected both stances and different guards and if you watch him closely, he will use the classic high guard just as often as his dads philly shell.. He really is genius in the ring say what you will but even Leonard or in fact ANY welterweight ANY era would have serious trouble with Jnr, he is no easy fight like his dad was. Anyone who says otherwise is a hater.
I'm not so sure, Hearns had trouble finding Leonard at times and nobody is going to argue that Floyd is a better defensive boxer then Leonard.
***** I've seen both fights.. Leonard changed his game plan then what happened? Im not saying Floyd would definitely beat either of them but I do think both fights would be competitive at the least. Hagler is too big for Floyd so he wouldn't even fight him lol.. But personally I think Floyd would've beaten Duran.
***** I think Floyd is the best defensive boxer of all time. Leonard, Hearns and Duran all had better offensive styles but it would be interesting to see how they would've dealt with Floyd's craftyness. The reason I say I think Floyd would've beaten Duran is that Duran's style was the basic Mexican formula which Floyd has ALWAYS looked impressive against even since the amateurs. Leonard frustrated him into quitting by using is legs and pot shotting and if there's one thing Floyd is good at its exactly that... However both Leonard and Hearns were bigger and better pure boxers then Duran, both would be a much harder fight for him.
+Elpapa Delarubia Floyd jr beats duran 7-5, in a competitive, but boring fight. Now jcc sr would've been a tougher fight for floyd jr than duran. He along w/hearns are style nightmares for floyd jr essentially. Hearns would've been a nightmare matchup for floyd. Too tall w/too much speed and overall activity. He'd put floyd to sleep or tko him by the 10th or 11th. floyd jr vs srl is kind of a toss up. Leonard was naturally bigger, but not really the better boxer. I peg srl to win on points 6/10 times by a 7-5 margin most likely. If floyd was to beat srl the other 4 times, it would be by a larger margin. More like 8-4 or even 9-3 floyd. The dudes skill level was much better than srl. No ko or tko. Floyd easily beats benitez 9-3 in decent fight.
you right bro. his defensive arsenial is crazy. he got so many different things to his defense that's why broner try to immatate and he has a hard time cause it seem like he don't understand per say the different things floyd does

What a humble guy one of the greats
Love this man a legends and what an humble man
Top Rank promotions fucked the game up
Duran, sugar ray, hearns hagler those guys were animals,12 rnds to long to much drama with smart quick as you ,twice as big, very smart ,mean as a junkyard dog natural welter and middlewieghts --you honestly think floyd could stay in the ribg with hagler??? These others did.
Clemon Logan Sugar Ray would be the one to give Floyd real competition because of his boxing prowess. He has just as quick hands and quick hands. Floyd would out box Hagler and Hearns. He would just stay away. Pac is one of the best offensive fighters of all time and look what Floyds boxing skills did to him. Look at how it negating his offense. Its more than just punching, its the range, the motion, footwork.
Floyd did a very clever job against manny, even better he has fooled hardcore boxing fans into thinking his d. is on a level with pernel whitaker he aint even 80percent of sweet pea's defensive show but he as least as smart -- mayweather was too strong for a smaller manny he just plain drown out his punches ala- moselyvs margarito. --Duran - leonard1-- holyfield--tyson. every excellent natural fighter who because anothers speed and combo punching finds himself Machine gunned bieng able to will naturally tie- up to come underneath and out of the barrage of danger then what if you find you are way stronger than your opp ala holyfield- tyson. Even chavez- camancho hector did alot better because of his strength hearns lost to a couple including leonard because he did not know how to tie up
+Clemon Logan yh but those cats where BIGGER than floyd. Ray and hearns STARTED at 147 and duran would BLOW UP in weight.
+Clemon Logan Whitakcer got DROPPED by roger man FOH about his D was better. PERNELL is the one who got you FOOLED.
Sugar Ray Leonard is a class act
+Gregory Carter Very true
+Gregory Carter Ray Leonard consulted undefeated fighters while he was a color commentator in the late 80s. He would advise them away from fights he would (weeks later) announce that he was coming out of retirement to take.
Classy.
yes
Sugar is a hater.
Part of the reason why he always says no one can go where he goes mentally. His style was crafted before he was born and when he arrived, his job was only to refine it.
Sugar Ray Leonard has something in boxing that you can't explain what it is.
I know Haglers was cursing the tv out whenhe seen this interview
😂😂🤣
Sugar Ray just trying to be nice to Pacquaio because he know Damn well Pacquaio never had a snowball chance in hell to beat Floyd Mayweather.
pac has a better career then floyd
Fighting men coming off losses for *NAME RECOGNITION* is not the same as fighting those same men when they are *winning, confident and are world champions.* That's what Pacquiao did.
Padding one's record with 40 straight fights against men no one but locals have ever heard of is NOT the way of a legend.
Using catchweights to gain unfair advantages in all of one's most significant fights is not worthy of a world champion. Especially when that fighter had been making the welterweight size on fight night since 4 divisions prior.
Pacquiao has fought less world champions than Floyd, has captured less world championships than Floyd, and has been beaten exponentially more times than Floyd against D,C & B-level fighters.
Floyd has a made everyone he's faced look amateurish. His skills are so superior to his opponents that people call him "boring" because there is such a lack of drama and anticipation because he is always in control and imposing his will.
Even Pacquiao fans admit that Pacquiao has been in wars .. which only goes to show that the man is limited and must exchange and be reckless in order to win. Some may argue that his style is more exciting, but excitement has never been the measure of greatness or even the measure of what is more preferable.
If it were, then Mayweather wouldn't have more people willing to pay more money consistently to watch his fights over Pacquiao's. If I disliked a man and found him boring, I wouldn't pay $70 to watch him when I could watch Pacquiao for $40 .. even if I wanted to see him lose. No one wants to see anyone lose _THAT_ badly.
Pacquiao has never unified a division. Pacquiao has only had 4 championships in his 8 divisions. The others were vacant/interim titles. Pacquiao has been knocked out seveeral times. Pacquiao has been outpointed. And for the last half decade before fighting Mayweather, Pacquiao was content to have smaller men come up from lightweight and super lightweight as his sole source of competition.
Pacquiao _was_ great in his first 4 divisions, but after that, it became about what he could get away with trying to pass for legitimate to build his brand.
At a certain point, it became about Pacquiao fighting his stablemates, who had a common promoter, which made it easier for Team Pacquiao to get them to accept weight manipulation clauses and target them coming off losses.
True story.
Arch Angel that's nonsense
Barry Wilson please, jr. wouldn't have survived Leonard, Hearns, Hagler, or Durant, he can only run so much and wouldn't have the judges on favor.
Bro stop. Pacquiao has a better resume and career. Floyd fought like a bitch. How you can say a prime Manny fucking pacquiao has no chance against Floyd is beyond me. Castillo and Judah game him trouble, but prime pacquiao couldn't? He would have washed Castillo and Jorah
Love this guy. This is class at its best.
What I also loved about sugar ray was that he never ducked from a fighter if they wanted to get it with him he was cool with it he took it as much as he gave it and when he loss he respected those who beat him because it was a fare fight he admitted they beat him straight up no excuses he loss roberto duran and then he got back in the ring and won. ..and check this he was actually afraid of duran that's what made him get back into the ring with him fear ...you gotta respect a man to admit he was afraid of him and then he wins. ...bad ass that's just plain old bad ass ....
Not true. Definitely ducked Aaron Pryor and he aged Hagler out for 5 years and he still really lost.
This is one thing you learn from Sugar Ray... Is fear helps you win. You always have to be prepared that your opponent could damage you. Sugar Ray didn't have this in his second fight with Hearns which is why he lost.
I don't think Mayweather Jr could beat Leonard if Leonard is fully aware that he could lose. Leonard is also one of the craftiest fighters, and there is no fighter like Leonard.
Nobody beats Floyd... they all look good until Floyd’s in front of them..TBE
Floyd chose his opponents wisely or should I say washed Ray fought Duran and Hearns at their best.
Sugar Ray Leonard is the first boxer to crack and break the Philly shell style of boxing
Sugar Ray would destroy Mayweather in 9. Hearns would get him in 3. Hagler would hunt him down and take him out in 7. Duran would get dirty and gut him by unanimous decision.
Legends.
@@GrubKiller436 Forever.
This would definitely have been a fight for the ages. My money would go with Ray Leonard if we are talking prime for prime. Speed size reach tenacity all work in his favor. It's not an easy call to make because Money is crafty quick clever and a heck of a lot tougher mentally tha one might imagine. Let's face it Mosely cracked him as hard as anyone ever has and he took it like a champ, but that was Mosely , a wobble against Leonard is blood in shark infested waters. As I said I give the Sugar man the edge in this tilt.
He still speaks well, he's Sugar is lucky, so many old champs are ruined with to many shots to the head
Arturo "Cuyo" Hernandez, Perhaps Mexico's greatest boxing trainer once said "A well trained Ray Leonard can beat anybody". That said a whole lot.
Watching that D-rose coming back off injury ticker hit different now.

Floyd would either outbox Sugar Ray or get smashed by Sugar. Those are the options
FervenC no way Floyd would go toe to toe with sugar like how Floyd’s dad did mayweather would really need to outbox I mean run,dodge,hit.. the same thing that happened to the daddy would happen to jr.

Jermaine Norwood blah blah blah...not true.
Dude please he beats your so called pryor he is to big for pryor and pryor could not hurt ray he would run from leonard and then get tko withen 9 rounds book it !!!

Sugar Ray would of risen to the occasion. He would of worked Mayweather out and landed that big right and finished him with a beautiful combination. No doubt about it . Probably the smartest fighter ever.

If Mayweather would've fought Sugar I could see either one winning depending on if Sugar caught Mayweather clean but if Mayweather had the opportunity to adjust to his style like he always done I can see him winning. We'll never know
prime Floyd Mayweather Jr was far more offensive than his dad. his reflexes and ability to predict his opponent is unmatched by anybody. he also had the ability to disarm other great fighters, and make them look B or C level. he also had the ability to adapt...unlike his dad. Floyd Sr was a part time boxer and full time drug dealer. his dedication, and his conditioning was nowhere compared to Jr. so SRL is wishful thinking to compare the two. SRL was good when other fighters are swinging for the stars...but Jr would slow the pace and pick him apart
Someone comment saying Haggler was out off his prime yet SRL. Was not active for 5 years so it all even out. This proves how great Ray Leonard was.
That music is epic!!
Ray would KO Mayweather Jr. prime vs prime. Leonard had the heart of a lion and was a great finisher.
@KissDaRipples ......l believe Leonard had a way better chin for starters. FMJ when he runs into adversity he whines and looks to the ref to bail him out. Leonard sucked it up and got busy getting after his opponent. Your best defense is a good offense. Leonard has better power and combinations. Mayweather is a 1-2 guy. You don't win boxing matches against great fighters on defense. You have to fire back and go into the lion's den. Mayweather lacks the heart when it gets tough I believe....and once Leonard stung him and found the range FMJ would go the same way his father did. Leonard was a better stand up movement boxer too, and his close in defense isn't bad either. But mostly Leonard won't quit when it gets tough, FMJ can't beat Leonard in the heart department.
@KissDaRipples ...I have seen all Mayweather's stuff. And l have seen Leonard's fights. He doesn't beat Leonard....ever.
Can't doubt SRL's defensive skills because he talks like a politician,he was great going forward as well
Money Mayweather wouldn't last undefeated in Sugar Rays era !

I feel that Tommy Hearns wouldve defeated Mayweather just from a clash in styles. Height, reach, speed, power, and overall boxing skills. Wouldve been a hell of a blockbuster event as well as a Leonard fight. Nothing can be proven, but its fun to create hypothetical dream fights.
@Nick Villegas I agree. Mayweather did not punch with the same sort of authority as Leonard. Therefore Hearns could afford to be more aggressive against Mayweather than he was against Leonard. Stylistically, I dont believe that Hearns presented a favorable matchup for Floyd.

Floyd would avoid Tommy at all costs
@@jawadmokhtari7445 I dont think he wouldve wanted a piece of Aaron Pryor, Leonard, Duran, or Benitez either. Hes vastly talented, but I get very bored and frustrated with his highly-calculated and self-serving moves. He does nothing for me in regards to stirring up any excitement and anticipation. I've been looking forward to his exit from the sport for years. Now hes siphoning more $ out of fans pockets for meaningless, boring exhibitions. Just want him gone! Floyd fights a lot like his father, yes, but the part about power is what I was here for. I wanted to see his comparison in power so we could have an idea of what impact Floyd's offensive training with his uncle had on his offensive capabilities. I would imagine that's why he so often changes styles and stances.

#1 Sugar Ray Robinson
Ray participated in 4 super fights the first bout Tommy Hearns, the first 2 with Duran, and the Hagler fight, and I mean in terms of the preflight buildup, not to mention 3 of the 4 were actual pugilistic classics, and the 4th was classic because of two words which will live in infamy..."No mas."

Leonard is full of shit. If Mayweather would have fought Canelo the way that Leonard fought Hagler, the world would have crucified Floyd.Mayweather spent just about the same amount of time boxing as Leonard did, but Mayweather spent a career dominating champions in different divisions.Ray was a great fighter, but just because he beat Floyd Sr. doesn't mean that he'd do well against Floyd Jr.Leonard was getting his ass kicked at an age when Mayweather was unifying divisions and beating jrMW undefeated champions.Believe the hype if you like. Terry Norris was no extraordinary fighter .. and he beat the stovetop stuffing out of Leonard.Terry Norris would get toyed with by Mayweather as superior boxing ability could exploit Norris' mistakes.
Thank you, im tired of these nostalgic idiot who only spout about how srl would beat fm because leonard fought in the previous era. They say he never ducked anybody, really? I guess aaron pryor just didnt exist. The past is always romanticized.
+Ether Tommy would destroy floyd with the jab. Truth is floyd never really had no competition. Duran would tear him up.
Jimjim Skimmer Just like people said that Tommy would destroy Leonard and we see how that worked out for him.
All the "so and so would have" is bullshit because Duran got his ass kicked by people who shouldn't have and so did Hearns.
But you don't want to remember that.
You don't want to remember that Hearns and Leonard and Duran got the stuffing beaten out of them by C-class fighters.
And they were old. They were younger than Rigondeaux is now.
Stop making up these fantasies when those men were getting smacked around at age 33 and 34.
agreed you spoke nothing, but truth !
+J Smith Yeah um they were in wars during their careers. And nutrition was different. 33 then isn't the same as now. Especially when you never trade punches like Floyd. You dam well know that. SRL, HEARNS, DURAN all wax Floyd.
Thomas Hearns was the first man to conquer 4,5,6 divisions ever in boxing only reason why the 6th division didn't count was because he was an IBO champ which is not a major sanctioning body
Even Sr said jr would have issues with fighters during his era.
anybody that comes oh here and says that SRL would've loss to Mayweather is crazy no fighter had a combination of speed and power like him in those divisions he fought in. Sure Mayweather jr has great defense tech how SRL was the best at cutting that ring off.height speed and power would go to SRL and so with the victory, trust me if Floyd were in SRL era he wouldve lost to SRL easy

***** His nickname is hands of stone for a reason buddy. Knockout power in both hands.
two things you have to give Floyd over SRL, one activity and inactivity and 2 the battle of attrition! Floyd is arguably the most conditioned fighter of all-time! and third point, Floyd has more experience total overall and fourth point like you said Floyd has better defense!
Its bigger than boxing technology change boxing, changed alot of stuff.
Huge fan of leonard. And maywaether is very much same style as his father. But a MUCH better version of him.
only fighter Ive seen quicker and faster than Floyd SRL was the Bruce Lee in the ring

Mayweather Jr never beat anyone of the calibre of Tommy Hearns, Roberto Duran and Marvin Hagler. Sugar Ray did ! Mayweather undeniably the best of his era but well over-hyped due to the 24/7 media saturation we have these day's.
+Jason ellis Leonard fought Hagler when Hagler didn't have much left anymore. He waited till Hagler got old. He didn't want to fight Hagler in 1982-1985 did he? He watched Marvin from the safety of the commentary team.
Hagler didnt have much left? What the heck is that based on? The fact that he lost to Leonard? He was undefeated as a champion other than in the Leonard fight.
Stark Zwillig
It's true. Hagler was going to announce his retirement and told Ray Leonard whom he thought was his friend at the time. He told him he had lost passion for the sport. He was starting to get cut too easily and was just tired of taking the punishment.
Ray then runs to the first camera he sees and calls out Hagler saying he wants to fight, right now. After years of teasing and and stringing Hagler along. Leonard had to make his announcement before Hagler called a presser to retire.
floyd did same shit with pac. oscar was in d last year of his career
canelo was still a baby etc..
Eric Saenz
Yeah, the difference is Floyd was calling out Oscar when he was in his prime. Oscar didn't want it then. If Oscar thought he could've beaten Floyd when he was younger, he should've fought him then.
Floyd was calling out Oscar for YEARS before Oscar took the fight.
And he would fuck you up with it Sugar Ray! Floyd is 40 times better than his Father lol
LEONARD AND ALI , THE BEST EVER.
I personally don't see ray Leonard beat Floyd jr, why Jr, has a far advance shoulder roll technique, unlike his dad, Jr,s has developed an outstanding offensive style, which change depending on the style of an oponentt, I don't take what Ray Leonard achieved, he is one of the best but because of his losses get him behind mayweather Jr, and I doubt that he would beat Floyd jr, I believe Jr, would have beat Ray decisively without contravacy, I just don't see Leonard cope with Jr,
Mayweather never fought a powerful puncher with IQ like Ray Leonard. Nobody that Mayweather fought was like Ray Leonard
Lets see SRL fight Floyd Sr again/ Floyd Jr fight R Rousey-Butterbean vs Dana White-Joe Rogan vs Andy Dick or any old Newsradio Cast members. And finally Kim Kardashian vs Cyborg. Oh all this in Vegas at the MGM what a weekend!!!!!

I'm not talking about Duran beating or not beating Leonard. I'm talking about Leonard vs Mayweather. Mayweather is not getting into Leonard's head especially if we're talking about a post-Duran Leonard where he understands how to be psychologically cool.
When I saw the fight in 87, I thought Sugar won. After seeing it a number of times later, I think the Hitman won.
I bet you that if this fight were to happen today people would call it boring and disappointing just like did the Pacquiao fight. Manny and Leonard are both guys who are most effective with their flurries on the inside, so I see Floyd staying away from Ray just like he did with Manny. Another thing to remember is that Leonard was actually far behind on the scorecards against Hearns, a guy who also stayed on the outside and kept Ray at bay. Because that fight was 14 rounds Hearns got tired and Leonard was able to get the KO in the end. If it wasn't for that late KO Ray would have lost that fight. This is a strong indication that a fight against Floyd would not go so easy, considering that Floyd is also more defensively sound than Hearns...

2) Power

Floyd doesn't have the freakishly long 78" reach to be able to play a cat and mouse game with SRL, who is just as athletically gifted as him with KO power in either hand. In contrast, Floyd would have serious issues keeping Hearns or SRL off of him for 12 rounds because of their height, reach and ability to box as well as brawl. Don't see him making it past 8 against either of those two to be honest.
Floyd chances would be better against Duran (who I believe he would be able to earn a tough decision against with reach and foot movement) or Benitez in terms of stylistic matchup (Benitez would be tough though).

Pacquiao is a mod range fighter
Leonard is also nothing like pacquiao. Both physically and style wise. One is long armed and tall, the other a midget with short arms and a mod range fighter, which is why it's his career is so impressive.
SRL would crush Mayweather the same way a long armed tall pacquiao would wash Mayweather.
Sugar Ray, just refuse to age.
Boxing is different nowadays, it is more of a business than it was back then. Today we have Al Hayman protecting Spence and only making fights for him against fighters who he knows he can beat. Same thing with Top Rank protecting Crawford and matching him against easy wins. Then there is Golden Boy doing the same thing with Canelo
srl thinking like this is why he's be beaten by Floyd Jr
It shows how unintelligent he really was as a fighter
🎯💯facts
Floyd resume is better than Leonard but sugar ray is far more exciting inside the ring .
Ray you didnt do it
Hagler hold back so much didn't wanted to hurt Ray
Marvelous Marvin Hagler won that fight n Floyd jr wouldn't beat none of the best of tht era he couldn't run back thn
Wrong. His dad was much more offensive
Even though Sugar didn't win every fight...he didn't duck anyone and he fought every round in every fight, unlike FM
Wrong.

Floyd moves better than his Dad. His Floyd Sr had to pay bills hustiling in the street of Michigan, and he was a natural boxer who would had been better prepared if he could had dedicated his time and focus purely on boxing, so no need for comparisons there...
Sugar Ray Leonard is my childhood hero.
He had something extra in his spirit.
Regarding him vs Floyd Jr, I have no idea who wins. Sugar was susceptible to getting hit with right hand leads (see Floyd Sr, Duran, Hearns). Floyd's defense is impeccable.
However, Sugar could go into deep water and survive. We do not know if Floyd Jr has that in him. Part of that is his supernatural skill. Part of that is his competition. Sugar fought killers and beat them all. Sugar has slightly faster hands than Floyd Jr, plus he is a better combination puncher.
Again, no idea who wins this fight, but I would love to see it.
No it's not...his father threw more punches opening himself up to be attacked more.
50-0
Sugar Ray would beat any of today's boxers, hands down no one could touch him, not even Mayweather !!!
still Don.t know who won the fight , Hagler vs Sugar. saw it 22x,s
Rich Red I had Leonard by at least one round, but I would have excepted a draw. I just felt Hagler didn’t do enough to win. He got way behind in the early rounds, and got completely outsmarted. He started fighting southpaw, which was a mistake.
Sugar ray Leonard would be the fastest fighter Floyd has ever faced I'm not not just talking hands but all around movement sugar ray would be the aggressor against Floyd with more then enough power to knock Floyd out wow! What a fight it would be ..I believe sugar ray Leonard would be the toughest fight Floyd ever had and give the edge to the sugar man.
Robert Shepherd how would you know nobody ever knocked Floyd out so how would you know who could knock him out
I think Floyd is one step above Sugar
"Floyd Mayweather jr style almost identical to his father, except Jr runs more than a headless chicken
If Mosley at 37 got to him twice, then I know this guy at 25 certainly capable, depends on if it's his night or not, still think Pacquiao was unlucky not to get that W
Kevin P I'm trying to find your comment on the page but it is just not here. I'd gladly reply, but RUclips has been pretty messed up after its latest revamp.
I see that you've messaged me, but your comment seems to have disappeared. I don't know what the hell RUclips and Google have done.
Sugar Ray Leonard was a duck master
He lost to Hagler and duck more fighters than Floyd did!
Dummest comment ever on RUclips.
@@nitro_001newman2 nah he ducked Mike McCollum.. he ducked Hagler and openly admitted to it.. Michael Nunn, Aaron Pryor and Donald Curry smh
Mr. Get It Done You obviously don’t know the facts. I went back on Wikipedia and looked at the boxers you mentioned, except for Hagler, because Leonard came out of retirement and moved up to middleweight to fight Hagler. In fact, Leonard only fought one fight in 5 years, and still had the balls to fight a great champion like Hagler. First off Pryor. Pryor was scheduled to fight Leonard but Pryor wanted more money. So Pryor called it off. A few years later Pryor was set up to fight Leonard again, but Leonard got a detached retina against Roger Stafford, and had to retire.
Next off, Donald Curry. By the time Curry was ready to fight for a championship in 1983, Leonard was already retired. In fact Curry won the title vacated by Leonard. Then Curry lost a title fight, right before Leonard came out of retirement to fight Hagler. And get this, he sued Leonard and his manager, for talking him out of moving up to middleweight. He claims that they convinced him to stay at a lower weight, so Leonard could fight Hagler, instead of Curry fighting Hagler. So after that he hated Leonard, it get this. His next fight he lost with Leonard at the fight as a boxing analyst, despite his protests. So that ended Curry’s chance.
Okay Mike McCallum I don’t even remember. Looking at his fights, he wasn’t in Leonard’s weight class, in the early part of his career. By the time they could have fought, Leonard was retired. They possibly could have fought after Hagler , bought Leonard retired for a short period, and came out of retirement to fight Lelonde instead, because he was a light heavyweight champion. Leonard had a lot to gain by being champion in another weight class, plus it made for a better crowd draw, fighting a great white hope champion. That gave him his 5th weight division title. After that McCallum lost, so Leonard fought a bigger fight with Hearns again. You see, it’s also about money. Don’t you know that. Why fight a tough fighter, who the casual fan doesn’t care about, when you can fight another tough fighter, who will make you way more money, and will be a bigger fight.
As for Michael Nunn who is bigger and much younger than Leonard, there was only a small window where they could of fought. I remember Nunn was considered a boring fighter, and wasn’t a good draw, so there wasn’t a good reason for Leonard to fight him. Instead he fought a similar opponent, but lighter in weight in Terry Norris. The young Norris destroyed Leonard, but it went the distance. Leonard retired after that. He would have lost to Michael Nunn also, because Leonard was past his prime. Leonard is more natural as a light middleweight, or even a welterweight when he was younger. Yet he had the balls to move up to light heavyweight and fight Donny Lelonde who was no chump. He was the WBC World Light Heavyweight Champion, and already defended his title twice. He also had a very good knockout ratio, and only had 2 losses in his career at the time. Leonard fought a tough fight at knocked Lelonde out cold in the late rounds.
So I proved your wrong. Leonard didn’t duck anyone. Unfortunate circumstances is the reason why Leonard didn’t get to fight Pryor(although he had his chance), McCallum, and Curry. As for Nunn, it never materialized, and I’m glad. Leonard easily would have lost, and not because Nunn is better. If they were close to the same age, and Leonard could have fought him in 1981-1982 Leonard would most likely beat him as a super welterweight. Maybe after Hagler he could have beat him, but probably not. By the time 1986 rolled around Leonard wouldn’t be able to beat a good fighter with speed. Hagler was also getting old by 1986, and wasn’t that fast. Speed wasn’t Hagler’s forte anyway. Hope you appreciate the time I took to write all this, and get the facts. Look it up for yourself, if you want.
@@nitro_001newman2 he openly admitted to waiting until Hagler looked beatable to fight him in a Hagler documentary.. same thing happened with Duran.. he said he wanted to catch him while he was out of shape, which means he's not at his best smh that was Duran's fault for not being prepared but it dont take away from the reason why Leonard thought he needed to fight him out of shape...he retired as more champions were arriving and would pop up when an opening arrived of someone looking beatable in his eyes..
Nope.
Leonard on that powder if he thinks he would beat floyd
Srl had the edge on where you can say " well when it gets to the nitty gritty championship rounds he shines " but fmj has never had to be at that point and srl would take him there but maybe he'd show us the best Floyd is too professional to give up , I used to say Floyd would've got whooped but really thinking non - subjectively it would be a hell of a task to pick a winner and HONESTLY be confident throughout the fight you chose wisely lol , js , but Leonard WOULD give everything he had if he was losing on points and needed the W
So great
Who he chose more to win is manny 8:13
