      Definitely you can tell his mind is in tact a class act too. When you listen to him talk he keeps a hunid. Sugar in his days in the ring could hit he had power & quick hands.

    One of the best pure fighters that I had the privilege to watch in his prime. He was fantastic. Speed, punching power, footwork etc. The man was outstanding!

      @Sagacious Hagler got in more head and body shots throughout the fight whereas SFL held Hagler loads during the fight and tippy toed around the ring and got in a flurry of combination punches some were just slaps (most of them blocked or didn't actually connect) here and there mainly in the last couple rounds also in the last 30 seconds of each round to make it look good for the judges to make them think he won that round and those last 2 rounds is what in my opinion wrongly won him that fight but overall Hagler had it for me

    Back in Sugar Ray's day...boxing was boxing...those fights were epic..Hagler, hearns, duran...Sugar Ray was special..hard not to like him..It was something to watch him fight..this was the end of the era...yeah Tyson kept it going for a few more years but for me the 70s-early 80s was the final golden era of boxing...I got lucky to grow up watching guys like Ali, Spinks, Hearns Leonard, Duran, Hagler, boom boom Mancini, Frazier, Larry Holmes, Foreman...I can't even name that many boxers in this current era...

    That's my all time greatest fighter right there. He never dodged anyone, he grew up in the DC area like me, and always came to fight. Fighters are like comedians. If you fail it's pretty much your failure, and if you excel, it's your victory. I grew up watching him and he will always be my favorite.

      @@AP-ik2tl cool he lived in Potomac for a long time. Do you remember the time D.C. Police called him because they had a barricade situation they were trying to resolve? It was a guy who was apparently mentally unstable asking to speak to Sugar Ray. So the police called Sugar Ray and he came to the scene and helped out. I'll never forget that, because the police sergeant said when they called him he agreed to come immediately.

    Sugar Ray Leonard looks absolutely amazing for his age ESPECIALLY compared to his contemporaries. You look at fighters from the 80s and they look totally different than they did in the 80s. SRL looks just about the same. 👍

    I was born and raised in PG County Md.
    Back in the 80’s we had the Joe Gibbs Redskins and the The Washington Bullets and Sugar Ray Leonard. When Ray was fighting and on top of the fight world us Marylanders were glued to the radio. We were proud that Ray was from our neighborhood! The man was and is a living legend.

    This guys speaks like a complete gentleman. I could watch and listen to him talk about boxing all day. I'm a basketball guy, watching this reminded me of listen to Julius "Dr.J" Erving talk now. Elder statesman, from a past generation, but still so articulate, passionate and knowledgeable. Fantastic stuff. :)

    Ray Leonard admitting that he thought Hearns won their rematch takes a level of class and humility we rarely see in boxing. I say this as a person who rooted against him in all of his matches against the other three of the "four kings". I respect all four of them more and more as the years go by.

    Clueless Floyd wasnt trying to defend himself vs Conor McGregor. he was making it a show. Floyd doesn’t fight like that lol way more defensive against real boxers

      Thank you for saying that lol I heard that and was like "Do you realize that he told you before the fight he was coming straight fwd"? lol He literally said that he's not going to fight like he normally does for that fight. If he would have just boxed McGregor, it would have been boring because McGregor could never even hit him lol

He obviously came out of retirement for that big check...which is smart. He dominated the sport for 20+ years...nothing left to prove in the sport so he came back for the money.     Great fighter. One of if not the best in my lifetime. Those fights with Hearns were edge of your seat, don't blink eventss. It's very good to see him healthy and articulate.

      WHEN your whole mindset and game plan is running, hugging, evading and just potshot-ing in between (VERSUS never trading punches), then that would seem to be "impenetrable defense". That's why Clottey survived Pacman (an extreme "defensive/clam up" example admittedly).

    Skip is such a casual all he knows is Floyd and Manny there is a big heavyweight fight on December 1st between Wilder and fury and AB and Manny has agreed to fight next year so what rumors are we really discussing but shout out to sugar Ray true legend

      I'm not sure either fight will be that exciting in terms of styles as Fury will just spoil and clinch for 12 rounds

      Hagler lost. If that decision went the other way, it would've been even more controversial as SRL was retired for over 4 years!!! Hagler should have destroyed him but SRL controlled the entire match. That's unacceptable for a reigning champ. Agreed about Hearns vs Leonard #2, he was robbed.

      When one's mindset and game plan is running, hugging, evading and just POTSHOT-ing in between. Extreme example was Clottey covering up the whole fight against Pacman. SRL is from a proper era of fighters and appreciates Pacman is in that class.

    One of the Most Humble Greats that I've been fortunate enough to meet when I worked ringside for an event company who worked with "Home Depot Center", now called "Stubhub Center", Home of the LA Galaxy in Carson, CA. Such humility, intelligence and kindness from this person. Enormous amount of respect. Most definitely, One of the Top 3 Greatest boxers of All-Time!
