The FF9 Nero sidequest went unnoticed for years _in the West._ They knew all about it in Japan. It was in the gaming magazines from the beginning. But since traditionally (and even up until this very day) the Western and Japanese gaming communities don't really mix and stay isolated, nobody over here knew about it until someone was working on a translation project of a bunch of FF9 related gaming material from Japan.
It's hilarious to me that FFIX is my fave, I've played several hundred hours of it over the years, and I never knew this was an actual quest; thought it was just random storytelling updates. ☠️
I hope that the next Batman deals with Riddler a different way and doesn't just have us chasing trophies the whole game. I get that they need their collectibles but we, the players, most certainly don't.
Prowler's Profit in Skyrim also almost guaranteed rare gems whenever you checked burial urns, which makes nordic ruins afterward pretty much gold mines. It's actually one of the most lucrative money making strategies for vanilla skyrim.
I'm so glad this is still a feature on the channel! One of the top things I look forward to every week! Thank you Jules! Also, here's an idea: Games (almost) everyone loves by developers (almost) everyone hates 👍🏻
I'll defend Origins for the trophy as 1) a lore origin of why they're in the games that chronologically follow and 2) the data packs show how Nigma started with a belief that blackmail info could be used to better the city, counter to Batman. But after that failure he is simply obsessed with out witting the bat
While not a great reward, there is story reasons for the fruit in Shadow of the Colossus. It's supposed to be restoring your humanity that the corrupted fruit has been taking.
The Riddler's such an underrated villain character in the Batman Arkham games. He's mostly a coward who just prefers to put down riddler trophies for Batman to collect just get caught at the end. There's no fighting in complete waste of time. What's very depressed is the fact that Batman has more than 1500 different villains in the entire batman family enemies list. What really depressing that the game producers can't even put villains in the Batman Arkham games that people never even seen or heard before instead of using the same boring villains such as Joker, Penguin, Riddler, Two-Face, Bane, Killer Croc, Mr. Freeze, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, Scarecrow over and over again.
I think he missed the point of the Riddler trophies. It was never about getting a gadget or anything It was more about Batman vs Riddler in the battle of wits. The Riddler is always trying to outsmart Batman with Riddles. Since all other enemies are more about combat, combos, and gadgets. The Riddler is about solving little puzzles. Solve the riddle to get the trophy.
Hey Jules, we need a list where top games where you dont get the most powerful weapon till the very end. Or top games where you dont even get time to use the most powerful weapon.
Yeah, I always hated this. What's the point in getting it once the freaking game is done? I am also guessing you are not referring to new game +, as at least whenever I do decide to play the game again then I can actually use the thing.
@@Zarvain yah you get the weapons that wouldve been useful but now you get it for 1 scene. I think fable was a prime example. Sure you could paly afterwards but it wasnt as fun.
This example isn’t exactly the very end of the game but close to it. In RDR you can’t get the best revolver in the game (I think it’s called the LeMat Revolver) until after you finish the storyline in Mexico. However at that point you have access to the High Powered Pistol which outclasses it in most scenarios. It would have been nice to have access to that top tier revolver a little early to get use out of it
You don't think Prowler's Profit was worth it? Didn't you ever try going through Draugr crypts with that effect on you? You find so many gems that it's pretty much a waste of time to loot anything else.
Without it, I already had enough gems to fill two large display cases in one of the Hearthfire homes (and nothing better to do with them), so while the effect might be noticeable, it's pretty pointless by the time you can get it.
How about a list of videogame songs that instantly take you back to a specific scene? Like Rules of Nature taking you back to that awesome intro fight or Aerith's theme doing the same with the aftermath of her death.
Remember Final Fantasy XII ultimate weapons ? Need to farm a 0.04% drop chance matirials to craft them And kill every single side boss in the game Find lot of secret rare enemies to get their 0.04% rare drops items Doing all the hunt missions, killing Yiazmat ! Hours and hours and hours of playing Just to get a weapen and no enemies left to kill them with that useless weapon
I suppose it's a super dated reference at this point but the worst for me would be Clive's side quest in Suikoden 2. It forces you to race through the game to get the full story just to watch quick scene... and that's it.
WHAT?! People weren’t aware of the family reunion quest in FFIX until recently? I should have spoke up, I remember being pissed about that let down 20+ years ago, I would have warned the world if I had known! I was so pissed.
You might not know me but I love you Jules. Your my bald big boy and you make me happy everytime I hear your voice. It makes me feel like I'm not alone.
I love when they say "this quest was never discovered" when yet it was. FF9 is very old and a lot of people had completed those quest but didn't know they were supposed to be "secret" quest for one, and 2 likely never know so many people didn't know about it.
I agree. I actually completed this quest myself way back in the day, but didn't have proper internet to talk of the discovery. Back then you would just do it, tell some friends and that was it.
The MGS:SM's ending sounded epic. It means that if you ain't got the skill to clear the game, you ain't worthy of the information that the picture provided of the new Metal Gear-model. Hideo is, appearently, a genius.
How about top 10 most helpful video game merchants OF ALL TIME!!! C’mon Jules let’s give credit to those NPC’s who gave us the weapons we needed to kick ass the entire game👍
As someone who has completed arkham origins and knight to to max percent, knight's reward is much worse. You get a suit with a gold emblem for finish the game to 120% for the main game and new game +
Getting the first riddler trophy in arkham origins was ok for me as i had fun getting till there but not getting the knightfall ending in A.K as i didn't collect all his trophies pissed me off a lot!
I dunno... the LZ Answerer is a pretty competent reward. The different modes make a lot of difference. The damage is double that of a Karambit when red. Blue mode has the same damage as the Karambit with some sick parries. Green mode makes you almost unkillable with all the health it gives you. What do you not like about it? All you said was that you got bored with it quickly.
I don't know how but my dad somehow managed to unlock the lz answerer when he bought this dlc stuff for resident evil 8. I actually had to take a moment to Google what the different colors for it were for, and found that red means more damage dealt, blue is if you time it right and guard against the incoming attack you'll suffer less damage? Then green I think I was something like attacking your enemies means you leech their health or you somehow recover health with each successful hit. The first time I bought the lz answerer in the game my dad asked how did I get it (unlock it). I thought he did something to unlock it and I shrugged my shoulders and said I found it in dukes shop. To this day we don't know what happened for him to unlock that stuff 🤷
The thing I hated about the Skyrim mission is how Steam wouldn't let you use a mod to identify their locations without saying you were cheating mods. That is the definition of modders fixing something that Bethesda was blind to figure out. I remember being so pissed when I finished this after hours of guides and backtracking. And with the mod, which would have made it more acceptable as a quest, you are locked out of all achievements. I think, when it is failing of the publisher, that achievements and some mods should get a special consideration.
It's completely unimmersive to have the stones' positions marked in any way. They are supposed to be lost to history with only a few accounted for in the hands of wealthy individuals. Perhaps Nocturne could have been utilized to give you hints one at a time (or even a limited number of hints) until you get them all, but having all 24 of them marked at any point is just downright broken. Also, I definitely noticed a difference when it was active. It's not just characters you find more gems on. You can now find them in almost EVERY container in Skyrim. Leveling doesn't increase those odds because they are specifically Prowler's Profit drop chances.
I was surprised to see the RE Village LZ Answerer here. It's actually not that hard to get and the damage it deals is insane when you extend the other end of the blade. It hits multiple times and takes out most normal enemies in one to two swings. It's especially worth it for the knife only achievement as it counts for that. Not to mention the green healing and blue defense boost (But red is the best most of the time anyway)
What about collecting all of the Korok Seeds in Breath of the Wild. Sure they’re used to upgrade your weapons inventory, but after that they’re useless & completing them is just more poop.
Jules you absolute lege! Got a list idea. Best easter eggs that gave a nod to another game/developer (like the poster of Jak and Dakster showing up in Ratchet and Clank Going Commando or the recent one in Horizon: Forbidden West). Keep up the great work mate!
Am I only one who loved collecting the riddler trophies? I’ve completed all the Arkham games 100% a few times and I plan on doing it again before Gotham knights is released riddler trophies as well. 👌🏻
How about a list of video game mechanics that are copied the most (and the game they originated from). Example: the regenerating health bar in first person shooters.
Jules, you glorious egg, you forgot that "No Stone Unturned" also doesn't give you quest markers so there's 24 stones scattered and you have NO IDEA WHERE TO START!!!
I thought Prowlers Profit was cool, but yeah, not enough for the sheer torture and by the time I finally finished I was rich as Croesus - and no way could I have done this without the mod that puts pointers to every gem’s location.
As someone who has acquired every single riddler trophy and enigma pack in Arkham Origins, City and Knight, I can agree that Origins was the most boring outcome. Also, I'm surprised Lego Star Wars 100% gold bricks wasn't on here. In the complete saga you get a golden machine that spits out spare change. Considering at that point you're probably a billionaire in the game, it seems pointless
I have a game guide with the FFIX mission in it. It isn't a true quest, but is mentioned in the little side bars with information. Why is this still being said to have just been discovered.

Do a list of underrated games that would’ve done well if released today 👀👀 (ex: Split/Second, Sleeping Dogs, etc)
Split/Second was a good idea but it's rubber banding was horrific. Vaguely clip corner and everything passes you at high speed.
That's a great idea. Definitely want to see it.
I think people are bored or hearing Sleeping Dogs be prefixed with ‘the criminally underrated’
@@Audioremedy0785 I'll second that. But there's a heck of a lot more games that could do much better now than they did initially.
But those games where bad then , tho. I'd pay to not have to play those lmao
