Comment by someone who managed to get higher AdobeRGB readings: "The factory settings preset Adobe RGB are not 100% correct. This means that the result is not 100% either. The factory settings are over 7000K instead of 6500K, only 150 nits instead of 160 nits and the gamma of 2.2 is also not 100% correct. This makes it clear that the result is not 100%. If the correct settings are made, the monitor should achieve 99% Adobe RGB. The same applies to DCI-P3 (approx. 95-99%). If Adobe RGB is used, DCI-P3 cannot be used (due to other settings), it must then be switched to DCI-P3. Hope this information can help."
Thank you - this is what I have been waiting for a long time! Presently I can switch between a Windows desktop and a mac Mini M1 as you do here but I didn't want the Studio Display as it was difficult to use with Windows and expensive due to many features I don't require such as audio. I hope other manufacturers also start to produce 5k monitors.
@@sullyFL If so that's a really good price considering Apple Studio Display and Samsung Viewfinity S9 both launch at USD 1600. LG Ultrafine 5K was 1300 if I remember correctly.
Why brands don’t invest is real differentiated industrial design is beyond me. Would it be that hard to offer a real attractive alternative to what Apple is selling? I know it’s a niche market but even so… Anyway a welcome addition to a very small market.
Mac OS works well with integer scaling.. That's the reason why Apple sells 5K monitor (with integer scaling it gives you a work space area of 2560x1440 while maintaining the sharpness of 5K 218 ppi).
I'm hoping to match this up with the newly announced Mac mini. Now we just need a release date and UK pricing! No doubt they'll just do a find and replace of the $ for £ and add 20% for good measure.
yeah I'm in the market for a new 5K monitor for the same reason. Just ordered the new Mac mini and I'm upgrading from an old 2015 iMac with a built in 27" 5k display.
Hi, great review. Looking for a 5k monitor for the new Mac mini and a windows laptop. KVM switch on this ticks the boxes! Can I ask what keyboard and mouse setup you are using? Thanks
@@sivakumarappan7390 Wow. There are so many keyboard choices. My fav mechanical is Epomaker RT100. For non mechanical maybe Logitech K780 with a phone dock. Logitech mice are good. Go with option 1 because as long as you get a display that has 4K up to 27-inch, you get use BetterDisplay app to get perfect UI scaling even if MacOS cannot. This ASUS is actually the best blend of two options.
Is there really no demand for a PC version of Mac Studio Display, i.e. with some really nice speakers + really nice webcam? Pros need audio, and do zoom calls, don't they?
The two questions graphic designers will be asking are 1) how does it compare to the Apple Studio Display and 2) how is ASUS's customer service? I have a friend who bought an ASUS laptop a few years ago and getting it serviced was a nightmare.
Hi. Thank you for the review. When you have connected the computer via hdmi and you are switching off the computer, is there a strong blue light with a message hdmi no signal? I have pa329crv, and it does this blue strong light when I am switching off my computer. ( only with hdmi, there is no blue screen with usb c connection) It is very annoying. I have to say.
What is the purpose of the different built in color modes, especially when you calibrate it anyway again? Also do you calibrate your display differently when creating stuff for print (Adobe RGB) or screen (sRGB)?
The display modes are for different workflows. I usually set to AdobeRGB to calibrate. In the pinned comment, someone mentioned my calibration process was wrong hence I could not get higher AdobeRGB.
Since there is no auto brightness..i guess the brightness control with the Apple keyboard does not work and there is only brightness correction in the monitor menu itself?
The 6K 32-inch belongs to the same product line as this so I don't expect much difference except for the screen size. But hey, if they have a review unit available, I will review it. It will be quite an experience with such a huge and beautiful display.
@@teohontech7141 been waiting to pull the trigger on a dell 6K 32 but the design of the ProArts just looks so much better. Thanks for your review. Now we wait on release date and pricing
Yeah, this monitor is thinner than I expected. When I saw the packaging box, I thought they sent me the wrong product. 32-inch is not within my usability comfort range and too big for my table also.
Sorry, as long as the ASUS 5K has a ugly matte coating! It definitely downgrades the high & brilliant display quality of a 5K 220 PPI screen, so you might as well stick with a 4K display. As long as it has not a glossy coating, it is a no-buy for me!
Waiting for the 6k variant. Was worried about the glare which is an issue with my current 4k panels. So weird Asus doesn't have the spec page up for the 6k yet.
Do you know anything about the Auto KVM feature? For all of these KVM-enabled devices, the KVM is rarely demoed, but it's an essential feature for many of us.

We are waiting for Benq PD2730s to appear with the same panel. It will be interesting to compare.
With them no releasing or announcing a matching 6k makes it seem like the larger panel might be having delays.
It seems to have strong vignetting or shadowing on the edges. For non-miniLED display this is not good...
Publishing this before I know the price because I've no idea when I will get the price info.
