    I was here July 16th, 1995 & witnessed my 9C1 Caprice being assembled. A more unique experience of which I will never have another opportunity. I have the build manifest of my car as it proceeded down the line. I also attended the final day of production of full-frame, front engine, RWD @ Arlington in Dec. of '96. I have the build sheet of the final RWD 'passenger car' produced @ the plant, a White Caprice & I had it was signed by some of the line workers, the shift foreman, & the plant manager.

    Born in the 80s here in Dallas and I always assumed I would work at this plant. Watching cheers, lavergne and shirley etc... I assumed thats what grown men did.... Work in an automotive plant.

    it looked like a fun day out for any car but who likes to know how a car is made.
    i find it amazing how a car is made form body in white to a finished car.

    and if you are wondering where they gonna send these un-tinted cars, prolly to the middle east. ( especially the Gulf region )

    Export trucks have untinted rear glass. All American units have tinted rear glass.

    Love my 2012 Suburban but I have a couple of gripes. Cracking dash board, broken driver door handle made from plastic. My rear hatch gets stuck shut. Open when it wants. Rear defogger tabs fell off. Now I don’t have a rear defogger. Other than that a very comfortable and roomy machine but not worth 75000 dollars new.

      John Duran my father has a 2012 Tahoe with all the same issues you described! Also the transmission failed at 110,000 miles

    @xiepeng They had a special event period for Super Bowl. Actual "open house tour" days before Super Bowl were cancelled because of massive snow days around North Texas, so this was the one that they promised to open after Super Bowl. They said they will have more of these kind of tours in the future. If interested, you can "like" the "GM Texas" page on Facebook.

    Hi GM motor factory, I have a question why you don't put diesel Engines in your Cadillac Escalade XL, GMC Yukon XL, Chevrolet Suburban XL like you do for Europe export SUVS ???

    • @sultansulta9673
      @sultansulta9673 5 лет назад +1

      Because the are making it for the America market, and diesel is more expensive in America

    • @v6mustang551
      @v6mustang551 4 года назад +1

      Ruvim Sonnik well they are going to now for the 2021 models. Also, the extended Escalade is called the ESV, and the Suburban literally is the “XL”, the Tahoe is the shorter one

    oh i c now, but for what reason they make the rear glass tinted in the U.S. ?

  • @johnduran3750
    @johnduran3750 5 лет назад +1

    Oh yeah , I forgot one. So they cost $75000 new but in ten years they are only worth about $3500 dollars

    Can anyone tell me what that jingle is at 5:16. Does it mean anything with plant operation

    • @rwaldridge6596

      They are called andons and they indicate a problem on the assembly line. For instance if I’m putting headlights on and I received the wrong headlight, I would pull a cord above my head and a certain tune would go off. My team lead would then know that there is an issue and come help me.
