- In Southern California, firefighters are finally making progress on the explosive wildfire that tore through multimillion dollar homes and forced hundreds to evacuate the area with little to no time to plan. The cause of the fire is still under investigation but authorities are looking into the possibility that it could have started from a nearby electric company.

Funny how these stucco homes and red tile roofs built to withstand fires all melted down. HMMM
These tiles are not made the old way with clay. These new mass produced tiles use recycled plastic & limestone that don’t hold up to heat. “Go green” but burn down your house from flying embers.

Laguna Niguel, I remember the name of that town. A college guy from that town went missing and still to this day was never found. I believe his name is Bryce Laspisa. He was returning to his parents who live in Laguna Niguel but never made it home.

These houses were once beautiful but if I had the money I’d have a fire proof bunker made. I’d want to live where there is nothing to burn.

So many fire that starts with mysterious patch of fire in the grass. 🤔
For these structures to have burned is absolutely inexcusable. Seeing the reasonably good defensible space and green vegetation remaining around gutted buildings clearly proves that these houses burned probably from ember entry, possibly from use of inappropriate building materials, even less likely from heat directly through windows. But it's 100 percent on the nature of the built structures. With California's Ch. 7A and any brains on the part of architects and builders, those houses should easily be able to withstand chaparral fire at the distance that the burned vegetation is visible. The cause of the fire is immaterial. We need to be looking at the cause of loss of the homes, primarily.
Many of these used cheap Chinese Wallboard. And the city inspector s passed it. 🤔💁♂️🙄😬

The trees didn't survive. They are still standing, but If they are not cut down, they will fall down.

Trees didn't burn down due to the fact that they are living, and therefore contain water in side the, whereas cars contain flammable fuels and materials. But most of those trees are dead, they just don't show it yet. I lived near the Lightning complex fire from a few years back. In some spots, trees were burnt all up.
In other places, the trees had minor scorching and their leaves were still green while the ground around was scorched black, but by next Spring the trees were dead and leafless while the ground was thick with a profusion of thick, green grass.
They don't make homes like they used to. Brick and concrete? You would think that fire retardant materials would bee used but they don't and homeowners firefighters are left helpless. These homebuilders gosh

That's like saying the heart attack was caused by that greasy hamburger he just ate. Which had nothing to do with the years of smoking, poor diet and lack of enough physical activity which could have caused the blockage in his arteries resulting in the heart attack.
Global warming has to do with humans allowing an unnatural and exorbitant amounts of carbon to be emitted out and into our planets atmosphere. Which would than cause the atmosphere or global temperatures to raise. Which than has our atmosphere (planet) sorta thirsty, so it turns to sucking up more ground moisture. Which comes from pools of water and green organisms. Making many things on earth's ground more drier which has made life more prone to the threat of fires. Since almost everything that had been a green lo⁸plant is now more like a strikes anywhere matchstick.

They have to be stopped. Fire-safety regulations have to be enforced.
Laws must be enacted so companies like PG&E can't buy their way out of felony guilty verdicts, like they just did with the Dixie Fire. (For the low-low price of $50 million.)
Laws must be passed - to send CEO's to prison when their negligence causes towns to be erased, and mass-fatalities.
You and me - can go to prison for starting a fire. In other nations - being rich isn't an Immunity to Prison card.

Most people only think about the weeds around their house. It's the falling embers that do it. The embers fall into uncleaned gutters, the leaves start, the rafters have vent blocks between them, then a vented ridge or exhaust fan. And you got the perfect wood stove with a chimney. Look at the roofs in the thumbnail.
Let it burn, don't let it get away. Then it won't be able to burn the rest of the summer.

Deleting doesn't help anymore! Let the houses burn down in a controlled manner. Because when so many houses are on fire at once, a so-called chimney effect is created, the warm air rises and sucks in fresh air from below, so extinguishing it no longer helps.
I was forced to evacuate my home on May 1st. I do not know what awaits me or when I’ll be allowed to go back.
This is what has been happening in New Mexico since Mid-April from the largest fire in the US that continues to burn along with nearly 20 other wildfires in New Mexico.
But no one reporting what's happening here.

@@LoveyKI believe rooftop mounted sprinklers helped a few homes near and dear to me when wildfires were roaring all around our community and launching dice sized burning red embers from every direction. When the fire was getting super close many neighbors who opted to stay despite evacuation announcements scrambled to spray down homes and clear any and all remaining possible fuel and ignition sources. Many would have been left destitute if their homes were ravaged by the fires. I wish you and your friends and loved ones the best.

Well, that is where all the flammable stuff is. Furniture, carpets and drapes make excellent fuel for fire. With high winds and high heat, the windows break, embers get blown in and the house burns down from the inside out.
Not firefighters they are firemen using fire fighting equipment and working on a fire crew.

That's a move that's overdue by now. Insurance companies have got to stop covering rebuilding in drought area. I live now in neighboring state and like the seasons changing, EVERY summer, for months, the smoke is like fog here because the fires from CA are off the hook in size. Last summer, we got a fire tornado coming straight from CA.
People just keep rebuilding. Isn't that suppose to be the definition of insanity, if not stupidity?

That's a great idea - to make "barrier strips" of green. Instead of rebuilding the homes that were next to the ridge - create a park. Green grass, trails and bike paths. Lots and lots of hydrants. Fire slows down once it reaches the top of hills, but saving homes on the edge is nearly impossible. Arriving firefighters just need time, and a defensible area to deploy in. A Green Strip will do that.
Also - terracing the hills with retaining walls would do wonders. Keep each terrace wide enough for a riding lawnmower to cut it all down. Drip irrigation is hundreds of times more water-efficient than sprinklers. It wouldn't take much. Your idea is great.
Evidently you people have been completely ignoring the wildfires in other states like Colorado where over 1100 homes burned in a suburban area. Not all wildfires are in "the woods.

You know that they had, or should have had, insurance up the Wazoo for anything lost inside their homes. Only personal items can't be replaced. It doesn't matter if it's a mansion or a single family home. It's still a devastating loss of their home.

Palm Trees seem to never catch on fire in California…these fires are getting weird. Fires just skip houses now 🧐
Most mature trees don't catch in fast-moving brush fires. Only if there is a "ladder" fuel at the bottom, aka, brush or dead limbs low to the ground. Bark thickens in older trees - fire-resistance is bark's most important job.
Below these palms, you'll see short, green grass. A good lesson in fire safety. No ladder fuels under them.
Unfortunately, the brush down in the canyon havn't been burned off, grazed, or cut in decades. That's an immense, "flashy" fuel source, as oily, dry bushes (like manzanita or chaparral,) burn like they are soaked in oil. (Nature of their sap.)
"Flashy" means fast-moving, short-duration ground-hugging fires.
As for "houses skipped" - we are learning more and more that embers floating in the air often starts fires on the _inside_ of attics.
(Notice the crazy wind blowing the fire uphill in the videos.)
So, even though you have a tile roof...check your vents. The embers float through un-screened areas, or screens not fine enough to keep them out. A tiny hole in the screen not only means you get insects, but fire too.
On the bright side:
This means a trip to a hardware store, and the purchase of fine screens + a staple gun just may save your home.
(Don't forget - many homes are saved by the firefighters that show up. They triage homes, and save what they can, just like battlefield surgeons. They'll prioritize homes that are not involved yet, have water sources like swimming pools, and a property groomed for fire prevention.)

Well if they have homeowners insurance their homeowners will pay for it if not they will pay for it out of their own pocket because the federal government or the state government or the county or cities are not responsible for building you a new home you were responsible for taking care of your own things
Not true. Do you own a car? A house? If you are insured you will also pay for this fire no matter where you live in the United States.
Why? When these homeowners contact their insurance companies to pay for this fire then you better believe the insurance companies will pass on the cost of their profit loss onto EVERYONE who will see an increase in their insurance premiums.
Also, if this fire is deemed an act of God, then the insurance company will be exempt from paying for the damages 💔

PG&E above ground power lines that are substandard most likely the cause of the sparks and then the wind carries the sparks…
PG&E if proven to be the responsible party needs to change their lines in high risk areas to underground.

@Monsieur_Prince the power grid through path 26 is directly linked to PG&E. The path 26 generally follows the interstate 5 over the Tejon Pass. The infrastructure that gets the power to SCE may be a PG&E issue. And certainly the above ground power lines in any case need to be under ground in high fire areas throughout California.
