  • In only a few short hours, nearly two dozen multi-million dollar homes in southern California were destroyed by wildfires. The flames swept through an exclusive enclave of mansions in Laguna Niguel, about 50 miles from Los Angeles. One young couple was panicked that their cat had perished in the fire. Thankfully, a firefighter was about to reunite them with their kitty. The fire has already burned at least 200 acres in Orange County. Evacuations are ongoing.

I was there at my high school. We were having practice and then saw the smoke piling up. After 30 minutes, it continues to pile up even more and was 20x larger than it was. The sky was full of dozens of planes and helicopters, sirens roaring 24/7. It was a sight of horror and beauty, since it made the sky look like a horrifying painting.

I've never felt so discriminated against/ looked down upon by the residents of that particular part of Orange county and harassed by the police definitely not a good experience it's just a wild guess but I'm thinking the reason for my bad experience was my race never will I ever have any sympathy for a white person from South Orange county or Persian middle eastern or Asian for that matter they all seem to have some sort of sorority it's funny how people who actually have indigenous ancestry from this continent get treated like second class citizens by people that have no ancestral ties to this continent

Here’s a concept: I grew up in OC , now the area called little Saigon. A lovely 1200 square foot house that was a wonderful place to grow up in. Current price: $1,000,000. So tell me it was probably middle class back,in the 60’s. Would you call these people millionaires? Would you be sorry if their homes burnt down? Unfortunately this is the reality of living in CA in 2022. And you wonder why we’re all moving out. Nobody can afford to buy or live here.

I don't know if this rings true to some but having been an almost victim of a fire myself back in late 2013, I can safely say that if I get to choose between the different disasters, I'd choose flooding than experience the others, as despite all the problems a flood brings in a community, you still have a bigger chance of keeping your precious things as well as the house you live in as after that, you'll only get to clean up the mess, do repairs, and rehabilitate the area back to the way it was, unlike in a fire where everything burns down into ashes, earthquakes causes things to break and collapse, and/or when tornadoes hit and turns everything into hazardous projectiles that could literally harm and/or kill you if you're unlucky. I pray that these people and their families be able to recover, find a new home that is hopefully disaster-proof as with everyone as well to prevent this kind of catastrophic event, and rebuild what ever they have lost in the flames.
