  • An interview between billionaire Elon Musk and a BBC reporter was “utterly pathetic” and embarrassing despite the broadcaster having some of the best interviewers in the world, says Author Douglas Murray.
“He seemed to have no facts at his fingertips,” Mr Murray told Sky News host Rita Panahi.
“If you’re going to interview the world’s richest man, or one of the most interesting people on the planet who’s doing some of the most fascinating and ground-breaking work of anyone on planet Earth, you ought to go in with more than; ‘oh I’ve heard about hatey, hatey, words,’
“This is just an example of the way in which sections of the mainstream media adopt a narrative, stick with it, even in the face of the facts.”

The ridiculousness of Douglas Murray... Let's take this point by point.
      1) Douglas Murray is a grifter. He takes the position he thinks is most likely to gain him clout in the mainstream media by appealing to bigots and the upper class.
      2) Murray is gaslighting billions of people in this video by saying non-white people are not justified in resenting the British monarchy and Empire for colonisation and slavery. Of course, they are justified and I imagine he would agree if the British colonised his land and sold his people into slavery.
      3) The fact that working-class people in Britain were once also slaves does not negate the grievances of non-British people. Yes, we should make sure working-class people are not systematically exploited in the modern day but in general, that is not the case anyway when it comes to white-Brits compared to those whose countries were victims of colonisation and the British slave trade so the issue is mute.
      4) The British banned slavery in the 1800s because they were scared of losing their Empire to slave revolts like what happened in Haiti when the slaves rebelled against the French. The British decided it would be more prudent to ban slavery and collect taxes from those entering the labour market for the first time in the Carrabien and elsewhere.
      5) The slave trade is something to be proud of?? I can't believe he just said that. Just wow...
      6) Did he just admit that wage slavery is comparable to the slave trade? I thought extracting surplus value from the exploitation of labour was a good thing Douglas? Make up your mind for god's sake.
      7) Every child in British schools is bombarded with all kinds of justifications for the British monarchy and colonialism. Many British children think the Indian railways are one of the 7 wonders of the world! Of course, they were built solely to transport Indian workers so they could be exploited for their labour on behalf of the EIC, the crown and the empire.
      8) Yes, people shouldn't be exploited. Why then do you promote the exploitation of workers in the capitalist system? Seems like you pick and choose which forms of exploitation you like based on the colour of the skin of the exploiter.
      9) As a leftist, I fail to see how you can label the person interviewing Elon Musk a leftist. It was his job to defend traditional media against the rise of Social Media as a way of self-preservation of a dying industry. He failed. That isn't a failure for the left though, it's a failure of the establishment which leans right and of which, Douglas Murray is a part.

In ancient history, we know that Irish clans spent a lot of time invading Britain, particularly Wales and Northern England, and setting up colonies which turfed natives out. Out of sight, out of mind in the history books, but it doesn't mean it didn't happen or hurt someones ancestors.
Britain has been one of the most invaded and colonised countries in Europe, to the extent we almost view it as beneficial, when in fact it was often subjugation, killing and theft of property on various native British peoples by Vikings, Romans, the Norsemen, French/Norman and waves of Germanics. The Danes caused endless havoc in their own way and ended up drawing a line through the country. Imagine being an early British peasant living in the North East, dealing with endless raids, upheaval and different masters. And these are some of our ancestors too. Lost to time but they existed, they felt and thought. They were valid also. Yet they are ignored.
Do I expect modern folk to pay for the past deeds of their ancestors? Of course not. That's like blaming modern Germans for the crimes of the Third Reich.

Well thanks for raping, murdering, enslaving and displacing millions of Africans; forcing them to work for literally nothing for 400+ years and the borrowing money to pay compensation to yourselves for you loss of free labour. No need to worry about the loan as some other unfortunate generation will fort the bill, and the inheritance for the former slave owners will be passed down ensuring they become the elite that control parts of the world today..
Of course, after 1833 all was well; and the former slaves were treated completely humane thereafter. Pat yourselves on the back.
The level of ignorance, arrogance and delusion on display here is despicable. Your nations wealth was built of the back of slavery, the descendants of slave owners an the country benefited from the proceeds. They have blatantly hampered the African Diaspora for many years.
The Arabs did it and the Africans also enslaved themselves (because they are all one nation of savages not individual nations on a continent). Also we also enslaved some white folk (Irish, Welsh and Scots) so shut up and deal with it is what I'm hearing.
The fact is former slaves never received a dime nor were they restored; and it took well over a hundred years for use to even be treated as a fellow human after so called abolishment.
I'm sorry but if I enslaved you, and then payed myself millions from back loan that someone else will pay back to set you free after doing the worst crimes ever (kill your dad, rape you and your daughters, enslave your sons and kill them if they don't comply, take every thing you ever had, land property, natural resources) It wouldn't cut it.
What do you think MLK was fighting for, he got a bullet in his head for his trouble and all he wanted was for us to work together and be seen as equal.
I'm not saying that repatriations is the answer, we at least need to have an honest discussion about thinking about solutions possibly mutually beneficial to move forward.
It won't happen. Too much greed and corruption in this world.
Personally I just get on with life and focus on trying to make the world better place. If reparations ever came, I'd use it for good.

But then again, that is our hyperpartisan age. It's infected science as well, which is why we have studies supporting the trans nonsense...or at least being manipulated to show the a outcome the researcher wanted to show regardless of the truth.

Some truth, some facts, but only the side of the story that supported their views, their narratives. Liberal left wing media, CNN, BBC, ABC, NPR etc., now has caught up and emulated Fox. They all do the same thing. With plenty of finger pointing and righteousness on all sides. This creates a physiological response in the viewer. Being RIGHT is stimulating. Now we are part of the "group", there is a psychology there. And most important, the "news agency", by creating hype, is driving viewers to its websites, blogs, and TVs. And, the better your ratings, the more you can garner in advertising revenue. The two are forever intertwined. Always remember the formula. Views/ Clicks = Advertising Revenue = Salary. Both "sides" in the media are bound to the same formula. So either they stir views with hype or they find another job. There are 3 sides to every story. (Usually more) More cliches: We can walk and chew gum at the same time. It takes one to know one. When you point your finger because your plans fell through, you have three more fingers pointing back at you. Last, how did relatively few Spaniards take over the huge Inca empire?Spanish colonists made their appearance just after a long civil war between two rival Inca kings, which served to weaken the Inca’s defenses. In other words, divide and conquer. Keep your eye on the ball and keep pointing out hypocrisy and flawed arguments. Indeed, Rupert Murdoch is no bastion of unbiased reporting.
