I love the ruffle on your 'cover me in kisses' dress. I have had a bit of a nagging feeling of dislike on the simple, unfinished ruffle. Although I know knits don't fray really. I still feel a bit slap dash putting something like that on. But yours with the piping looks very intentional and put together. So cool!
Love Rachel’s dress. That fabric is gorgeous. Love Nikki’s dress, and wouldn’t change a thing on it! Thank you ladies. Love your videos!
great quilt picture behind on wall 😀
Love watching you ladies so much!
Both of your outfits are lovely. Thanks for sharing your sizing and how you alter the size to suit you both, that’s really helpful. Thanks for sharing x😻
Gday guys. Lovely makes. Really love Nikki`s blue outfit, the bib part looks great. Rachel, your T cup is super cute. Your dress looks great on you. Thank you for sharing.
Can’t wait for mine to arrive! Thanks for sharing your makes and the book
Very nice make! I love the lips dress, very nicely done with the piping and I totally agree that a non skin tight is the way to go!
Thank you for saying which fabrics are in your makes and from where -- I'm looking at my copy of Tilly's Stretch and wishing they'd been much more specific about the fabrics used in their samples/models.
Things like: yes, we can tell it's stretch velvet, but no idea what kind of weight, if there are special names for it, etc. So gold stars for you two! Fast makes AND helpful information!
Great looking makes! Thanks for introducing me to Girl Charlee✔️
Lovely makes as always ladies! Will have to steal the hack for the Freya as I’m not keen on very fitted dresses either ❤️❤️
Hiya girls! Always looking forward to and enjoying your lovely posts! I wish I could come to class at Sodbury! Love the patterns and the hacks. Keep up the good work 😘
Great video I love your makes.
Lovely garments girls and great book review 😊😘
Pay a tension make sure you trace the patterns you need out I cut around the pattern for jogging top not realising there was the rest of the pattern on the other side I tried to tape it back together I lost the jogging bottoms as they were on the reverse side look before you leap please happy sewing woops xxx
I love your videos! ❤️
I got the book. I love it. Even if it just sits on my shelf. It won’t. Haha but it’s so pretty to look at.
I'd also add that because you are using a knit fabric doesn't mean that you don't need a fit adjustment. I've seen a lot of jersey dresses on social media that really needed a FBA but where the sewer has presumed that knit equals no adjustment - viz bad pleating around the bust and a raised front hemline.
Kathie Gadd Again, I agree but we were simply encouraging people to have fun making a few style adjustments to the patterns, not to forego FBAs or whatever fit adjustments they would usually need to make. Always happy to receive feedback though, so thank you for commenting x
No problem! I'll get back in my box haha!
I love Rachel’s Dress and fabric choice. I’m so happy that you put the piping around the ruffles as well. Much more professional looking. I’m having such fun acquainting myself with English patterns and fabric shops. Makes me want to come back and spend a month in England. It would be a blast to take a class from you and go on a “shop hop” around England. Getting my fabrics/patterns back to Oregon might be a challenge though! It’s obvious that you’re both BFF’s and work well together. No wonder you have over four thousand subscribers in such a short time!
I'm hoping to be in London in April, and shop hopping is on my list!
As a long time, semi-professional sewer but newcomer to social media sewists I am struggling with the current trend away from excellent classic texts on sewing topics in favour of former GBSB participants??
Kathie Gadd Hi Kathie, it's an interesting point but I think there's plenty of room for both. I love the classic texts (and am always looking for recommendations if you have any!) but the trend for fast, fun handmade fashion inspired by GBSB and many of their former contestants has led to a boom, especially in younger people, taking up the hobby. Personally, I think that anything that encourages people to sew is great! Rachel x
Welcome to the world of instant gratification!! I get what you are saying about encouraging new sewers and the GBSB certainly seems to have done that (though I admit to only watching a few episodes of one series haha!) and that has to be good for all sewers! Re texts - I guess the classic for knits is Connie Long's book.
Lovely makes as always ladies! Will have to steal the hack for the Freya as I’m not keen on very fitted dresses either ❤️❤️
