This week we are chatting to Tilly from Tilly and the Buttons about her new sewing book, sewing with Stretch! Any dressmakers or sewists out there who are scared to sew with jersey or sweat-shirting, this is the book for you. Stuffed full of handy hints and tip as well as 6 fantastic patterns this is the must have sewing book of 2018!
We headed over to Tilly Towers a couple of weeks ago to get an insider peek at all the samples from the new sewing book and to hear which is Tilly's favourite.
The sewing book is all about learning to sew with stretch fabrics and includes six full-size printed sewing patterns. But that's not all, it also has pattern pieces and ideas to customise and change these six patterns. Ultimately you could create an entire new wardrobe! The fabrics you will learn to sew with include jersey, Ponte de Roma, sweater knit, sweatshirt fleece, stretch velvet and sequin knits. As with all Tilly's patterns, there are step-by-step instructions with photos to guide you through the making process and plenty of tips and tricks.
Also you don't need an overlocker for this book, you can make all the patterns with a zigzag or stretch stitch on your regular sewing machine. If you do have an overlocker machine though, you'll get lots of help on how to use it in the book.
The patterns included in the book are: Bibi skirt and pinafore, Frankie T-shirt, Freya sweater and dress, Stella Hoodie, stella joggers and Joni dress.

Thanks Kate for doing the video, I do love the Foldline videos! I’ve never made a Tilly pattern, I don’t personally like the dungaree dress style (for myself that is) she’s well known for, but there are plenty of other patterns of course! I’ve been making clothes off and on for donkeys years but don’t consider myself an expert by any means, so I didn’t get into the whole Tilly thing. However this review has changed my attitude. It was great to see the styles made up. Thanks again.

I bought the book after seeing Debbie Shore make things from it! I wish I'd had it for my first sew with stretch velvet for my granddaughter, a bit of trial and error, particularly in cutting!! I am looking forward to making a skirt for myself, and teaching my granddaughter to make one for herself, and then have a go at all the others.

What a great interview! It was so nice to see all the samples. I pre-ordered the book months ago, but Amazon won't deliver until March 20th. Can't wait! I had to laugh at the "Florida Grandma" comment...I am one! Tilly's new short haircut is very chic.
Really enjoyed this, thanks! Now I’m regretting not picking up a copy at the K&S show... Would have loved to watch her show you how to mark the pattern straight onto the fabrics with the wheel... Need to learn that and a bound neckline next... happy sewing!

Hi, I have just made Tillys Stella in the pink and blue stripped hood lining, I love it and will be making some more. These are great for when I go away with friends and it can be winter or summer because of the colour. I will definitely will buy her new book, thank you for the video with Tilly, its lovely to see the clothes made up. xx

I love these videos. Very inspiring. Can you do some for the larger lady. Tilly and Sew over it only go to size UK 20 and I'm sure there are more designers just a great that do larger pattern for the plus sizes. Hope you can help. Thank you anyway. Also love to watch ☆
I've preordered it from Amazon already - can't wait! I think my first project will be that bib front skirt. The one big problem I have with thinner knits is that I can't adjust the presser foot pressure on my regular sewing machine and the top layer won't feed. I've tried various stabilizers as well as a walking foot without success. It's very frustrating.

Cute patterns:). For the hoodie ties - Alabama Chanin says to cut strips of jersey and give them a tug to make them roll :) No need to buy anything.

Love the New book . I've made 4 Frankie t'shirt already. I would love to make just using my overlocker but not how to gauge for the seam allowance? I use zig zag stitch on my sewing machine to make up the garments.

Just made the Hoodie with jumper knit fabric. It is 2 sizes too big. Maybe just stick to Jersey? Anyone else had the same problem?
What is the tracing product Tilly was talking about she said it so fast I couldn't make out what she said. I haven't found any that I'm crazy about
