All of my 4 cars are manual, a little sentra, a 91 MR2, a MK3 supra and an old Ford 74 F250. While it's fun, I'm not going to lie, it's nice to drive an automatic every once in while. It definitely has it's perks and I can respect that as a daily
Caleb Peterson My 1987 Toyota MR2 is 5spd and my 98 Civic is Automatic, both are fun to drive but the auto is far easier in rush hour
Agree 100%. My first car was an automatic 2006 Subaru Impreza, and I now drive a 2006 Subaru Impreza WRX (Manual, lol), and I can tell you that automatic transmissions have major perks. They're especially useful when it's leg day at the gym, and my jelly legs can't push the clutch in lol.

MY2005 Legacy 2.5i Wagon (bone stock daily) and MY1989 Mitsubishi Mirage turbo (heavily modified). Yes MOOG, there is love for both camps. Love that both you guys can appreciate all that is car/driving glory, in whichever form it takes. There is so much choice these days, and even with older cars in good shape, you can't really go wrong when you know what to look for. It is all about what puts a smile on your face!
People who complain it's automatic... It's a DAILY. A DAILY DRIVER. Have you ever driven a manual car with a heavy clutch in traffic for years on end? It gets old when you can't drive fast. When you deal with that day after day, it's annoying to live with on commute. The thing is this Evo X is still FAST. The auto transmission in this car is damn good and you all aren't the ones living with it so why complain? Be happy he's got an Evo X while he fixes up the Evo XI

A dual clutch can shift faster than any human could so i don't know why people are moaning about it being automatic, plus its a daily regardless.
more than .1 second & nobody said anything about the fun factor, its a daily, its closer to a tool than a toy just cruising around town
watch the last 20 seconds of the video again.
What i was saying is that this isn't just a regular clunky and slow auto, it is dual clutch which is still really fast and more engaging than a regular auto but also good for a daily.
And this car was not bought to run times at the strip so i don't know why you are even talking about it.

My first thought was on your Evo was why the auto, but after hearing Martys reasoning it totally makes sense. Cars sometimes do need to be used in the real world...

As saddening as it was to hear that the Evo was being killed off, but I truly believe that the EVO X was truly an amazing send off to the last of the breed. All around a super stellar car that perfectly represents what the Evo has built as a legacy. I really don't care what anyone thinks. It's a beautiful car with plenty of go for the average dunce who probably can't handle the power of a V6 mustang.

The Evos sold locally aren't paddle shift. They're a 6 spd manual. Ralliarts are a paddle shift. I own a 2013 Lancer and I love my Mitsubishi. Living in Canada (east coast) means a lot of snow and my AWD is awesome. If I had any single complaint about my Lancer - it's the gearbox. It's slow and dimwitted, and makes odd gear choices. If I end up reversing onto an incline with the front of the car facing upward, the gearbox slams into 6th while stopped... not the best since our house is 1.5 seconds from the crest of a hill along a fast road. Road noise in the car is pretty bad too. Whoever created/programmed the Bluetooth interface obviously has a brain injury.
That said, it's relatively fast (could be faster), handles VERY well, does great skids, looks great, and is a blast to drive (especially in the snow ;) )
Sadly, Ralliarts stopped production last year, so I cannot upgrade to one. Evo's are done as of this year. I'd love some choo choo, or even go with a supercharger upgrade, but there's no kit I can find to fit my 2.4L.

and the fact that its not a full auto with a twin clutch. its a semi auto for the flappy paddle gearchange.

isn't it a double clutch, which you can both manually and automatically operate? like any other non-manual?

Sci4n kind of. the there is a clutch and flywheel like a regular manual but the clutch and gears are operated electronically. allowing you to choose manual or full auto. an automatic transmission uses a torque convertor and apart from 1st and maybe 2nd being selectable you just put in in drive. you cannot fully control what the gearbox is doing or where it shifts up or down.

and no, on 99% of modern autos you can shift up and down manually every single great (ofc only if the computer lets you depending on speed and rpm)
if you can shift up and down its a "SEMI AUTO" I feel you don't fully understand the terms being used, do you know what a clutch is?
There is nothing to be ashamed of by owning an economical auto car to daily and a performance car to have fun with on the weekends, people need to chill. I'm keen to see Moog's daily, keep up the good work boys!

mad respect for the evo had an 8 gsr 260bhp back in the day of single guy no kids, alot of people call the gsr model the baby evo but some small mods 400bhp no problem trade it in get a 7,8 or 9 you would be sooo much happier. love the show guys keep up the maaaaaad work look forward to moog's daily. peace out from the uk.

I would absolutely have a Mitsu and Subie at the same time. I have a 2011 EvoX GSR right now and if I had another 40+K to spend on another car I wouldn't totally buy an STI. Screw the rivalry bullshit, they're both awesome cars and I love them both.
I think they should do more of this kind of video once in a while, where they talk about some of the cars theyve worked on while driving around.

When I used to drive my then 1988 chevy nova(toyota corolla with gm nova id). It was an automatic as well. I called it my Town Car. I could race in traffic and no one would ever notice. really a practical car with no fun at all. with 160 thousand trouble free miles I finally sold it to a college student who needed cheap reliable transport for the 400 bucks I sold it for. Then bought a 2000 Echo what a fun car it is. Actually has zippy performance with the reliability. coming up on 160kmiles soon with no problems except a Pcv valve and hose replacement to cure the lean run codes I was getting.
since i was a child i have always wanted an evo .fuck lambos and that if i had the money i would be evo / skyline type cars all day
