As an INFJ who works in hospitality and enjoys meaningful connections with people - thank you, the amount of people that think I'm into them or flirting has always been bizarre to me but upon further inspection, I just love deep and meaningful connections and most people don't try to have them with just anyone, so I am an anomaly.

This is funny but and so true. I agree with these points. I’ve always felt like people think if you are at all interested in anything more than surface info they assume you want to be with them. It’s a little frustrating actually.

Note to self- talk about some good books with the INFJ and then ask the if you borrow one. If the answer is no, it’s all over. 😂

As being my own INFJ, I will like a person long before the person could ever tell. I would like them before anything about my words or body language suggested anything.
I would then 'test the waters' as it's said, to see if there is anything possible between us. To test this out, I would be available for anything where the two of us would share space together, usually as part of a larger group first.
That person would never know I liked them in that special way, unless I was assured the person also liked me in the same way. A person would never know I 'liked' them unless I wanted them to know it.
Like you said, if someone surprisingly asked me if I liked them and wanted to go out, even if I said "no" I would respect them more for having the self-assurance to be able to ask . I would also be more likely to engage them in conversation after. As long as they are decent people, the outcome would put them in a more favorable light in my own estimation of people.
So if anyone likes an INFJ and want's to go out with them; go ahead and ask. The outcome of this scenario is more likely to be favorable overall, no matter the outcome.
At least it would be in my opinion as one INFJ.

    • @TypeAHippie
      @TypeAHippie  7 месяцев назад

this sounds a lot like kaylia's approach! and yes, i totally agree about respecting a person's self-assurance to ask. thank you for sharing! :)

Im a 35M INFJ that has the hardest time letting girls know that I’m into them. I crush all the time. It’s a vicious cycle of not being confident, to being self aware that non-confidence isn’t attractive, and back to not being confident. Outside of dating apps, I think the girl has made the first move in every relationship I’ve ever been in (which isn’t a lot lol)
I never want to lead somebody on, so I feel like I hold myself back from having a deeper conversation a lot of the time. And when I do like a person, I want to know the feeling is mutual before I put myself out there. I imagine a million scenarios in my head of how to approach someone or flirt, but choose none of them. Or I resort to leaving subtle hints or making eye contact from across the room to see if anything happens. I know that I need to be more direct and confident.
Other people make it look so easy!

"being self aware that non-confidence isn't attractive"... i feel that! and that self awareness leads to more self consciousness.. yadaya..

39M INFJ here. Hey Shawn, I can relate to what you write and really feel you. Especially the part of not wanting to lead somebody on. My friends encourage me to think less and to not put so much pressure on myself and just enjoy myself and when there is a nice woman that I feel a connection with, to be more bold and assertive, even when I don't know for sure if it's mutual or if she's just friendly. But it's a struggle for sure. All the best to you, brother!

Not taking into account that candy guy is potentially exposed to relatively meaningless flirty behaviors multiple times per week (along with any of his professional hospitality behaviors) leaves shopper INFJ likely inaccurately personalizing (working) service workers' actions and reactions.

@@TypeAHippieFrom Saxony, in the city of Leipzig, Germany , a couple of hours southwest of Berlin. That's so cool, that you've toured Germany. Maybe you stopped by Hamburg, one of my fave cities in all of Germany, personally. Do you know the saying "Stille Wasser sind tief." ? Literal translation: "Still waters are deep." and it's referring to a person that is reserved, rather quiet but has a lot of depth. If that's not the perfect description of us INFJ then I don't know what is, am I right? haha

Sidenote: The great Norm MacDonald said he'd always heard that "chicks like funny guys." (Hes a comedian) But after keen observation, he realized, its not true at all. It's not that they "like funny guys.". They just laugh more around really good looking guys.

New channel name! . . . Molly the Vase? . . . Face, the Person? Ba ha ha : ) Ok, ill try one, see what you think. In a social setting, with plenty of people, the infj will be in their "gregarious mode" with their natural charm and magnetism, delighting all those about them with ease. . . But! . . They will be physically, deliberately, as far away as possible from the one person in the room, that they have more of an interest in. (From an infj)
So, if you're not an infj, but you know one, notice who they are NOT interacting with, when out and about, even though it seems theyre being outgoing with everyone "evenly." Just a thought for fun, i don't know : ) I believe infjs are highly private, and id say, ridiculously nuanced, so, yeah, good luck reading one on any issue, unless you've known them for a good long time, ha : )
