    Great clarity in writing skills; thanks for not over-writing! This is the reason for such cleanliness; voices are not having to match each other, which is difficult to do with the contrasting timbres of the instruments. Keep up the great work! The only major thing about this style of writing is that each section must know their part without fail or the rhythmic integrity is lost!

      Those are bass drums? I hear absolutely no low end. Just midrange hum from 5th. I miss the days of bass drums actually sounding like bass drums. No, I'm not some old fart wanting DCI to sound like 1970 all over again, but I did march through the 90's and early 2000's, when snares and tenors were reefed (gross), but basses still had massive low end and impact. Now bass drum tuning seems to be reefing while snare and tenor tuning has come down, which is great IMO. I was a tenor player and have always preferred the lower and very musical tuning of SCV.

    Crown's recent battery deficiencies are definitely overstated (except 2013). All other years, they've been Sanford caliber.

    • @Nugpotskillz10
      @Nugpotskillz10 8 лет назад +1

      I agree with you, but 2013 wasn't the worst ever, they played well both in quarterfinals and semis, but they just screwed up a little in finals where it mattered most.

    • @karmew32
      @karmew32 8 лет назад

      2013 drumline had the run of their lives in semis and it inflated their finals score. In 2015 the whole corps just choked, which tends to happen with crowd favorites; they became afraid of letting the crowd down if they lost. Plus, they had A LOT more ageouts than BD, so they knew there was no immediate second chance next year if they blew it. That had to be in their heads during that Finals run.

      Sanford caliber?
      muwhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
      nowhere close.... and still not.
      and they didnt choke last year... corps at this level don't choke... they gave it their all and their best... it simply wasn't better than Dev's, who was light years ahead of them in design, performance, etc.
      2013 was good... well designed.
      2014, 2015 and hate to say it, this year too... all pretty cliche; nothing new, nothing innovative. Now, don't get me wrong, you don't have to be... but there are corps out there pushing the boundaries and doing it well... and they are getting the judge's attention deserving.

      Your diagnosis is way out of whack. Crown hasn't been Sanford worthy since 2009, the only year they were even in the conversation. And 2013 wasn't nearly as bad as you want to think it was. I guess a 9.35 perc score on finals night qualifies as 'worst ever.' Please stop with your armchair analysis, you're embarrassing yourself.
