      This is pretty informative in terms of this particular hot tool. I just got a $300 PYT flat iron and it is AMAZING! I used to use Remington or Revlon tools but my hair always seemed to feel dry and frizzy with them. The PYT iron leaves my hair so straight and sleek and soft I'm beginning to wonder if my hair is even my own anymore lol

      It's called friction. Using a flat iron that has less friction won't damage the hair cuticles as much which will make the hair have less friction when touching it with your hand. "Healthy"
      There's no hair shaft that is alive, whether it's a wig or not. Only the follicle is alive.

    Honestly wouldn't notice a difference. Neither side looks REALLY straight and honestly 200$ is so much, especially if you don't use it often. I bought my straightener on sale for 5$ (originally 20$) and it still works perfectly even 5 years later. Don't use it every day, but it also straightens V unruly hair.

    • @alexanderleatherman
      @alexanderleatherman 6 лет назад +2

      Heat protectant with the actual "450+" is iffy, i notice allot of drugstore products with 450+ heat protectant make the hair feel almost plastic and heavier after ironing, where product without the liquid Teflon leaves my hair feeling more like hair, but I am vigilant for any vapor lol. If you use a spray formula the floor will turn bowling alley slick either way.
      And @Steph Pavao that is how I feel almost about the luxury iron industry, because I recently saw a person who bought a BaByliss Iron and the plates did not meet perfectly. WTH?

    • @mariastoyanov999
      @mariastoyanov999 6 лет назад +1

    You literally went over the front section of the GHD twice and put an angle on the curl with the Revlon so much worse than with the GHD. You also have more hair from the back pulled to the Revlon side than to the GHD side. Hmmm.

  • @Amarianee
    @Amarianee 7 лет назад +51

    For $200 the right side (your right not ours) should be pin straight. Especially when you already said it's a single setting of 375° My Chi iron, which has digital temperature control, can do a single pass at 280° on a reasonable sized section and be pin straight. None of the sections on your right seemed to be "pin straight." In fact, the whole right side was still a little "fluffier" than most of the left side imo (there were a couple fluffy sections there too but more straight/flat). The GHD iron isn't significantly better than the Revlon one and DEFINITELY isn't worth $200. I'd recommend my Chi, which I believe has the same price point (it was a gift), is a beautiful purple, has temperature control up to 350°, titanium infused ceramic plates, and has lasted over 8 years, long before I'd recommend that GHD one. There are so many better high end irons out there and I know you know it. As a hairstylist is expect you to have an immediate red flag for an iron that has no temp control. What happens when you've got a client with extremely fine hair? 375 is great for someone with medium hair, but you're gonna fry thin already damaged hair regardless of your protectant. Never use more heat then you absolutely have to.
    I'm gonna take a leap here and guess this was a pr gift. Take a page out of Tati's book. Just because they send you something, doesn't mean you lie to your fans when it's subpar, to stay on their pr list.

      Yesss girl! I have a 200 titanium plated chi flat iron with temp control that is AMAZING! Definitely worth it for me. It's a one pass and done deal. For my thin hair it keeps it healthier and allows low heat. Before that I had a Revlon one similar to the one here and it wasn't bad it just wasn't as good and fried my thin hair. One of the few splurges on myself I've ever made. I super researched it.

      Deserae Ward omg 450!! Way to high for your hair it will be doing so much damage even if you don’t feel it!!! I’m a hair dresser and when you do the course you have to learn about the science of hair! You are fking up with heat bonds way to much at 450! No temp control is actually a really good this because the GHD is set and the perfect temperature for breaking the bonds but not overly damaging them!! We one use GHD in salon

    tbh, they both look the same to me, and why pay $187 more for a flat iron thats gonna do the same as one thats only $13? i think the only thing you proved is that being bougie isnt gonna do you justice. both flat irons are brand new as far as ik, cheap flat irons dont preform their best brand new. also you know it wasnt gonna curl because of the squareness, theres plenty of cheap flat irons that are round. i dont think this was a fair and unbiased test at all. there both the same considering the circumstances. dont buy $200 thing for the outcome of a $13 thing.

    • @nctsgrass
      @nctsgrass 6 лет назад +6

      Maddi T 2 month late but I wanna say that the 200$ iron is really disappointing in any possible way, so it doesn't mean that the 13$ one is great, just that the other sucks.
      I have a 118.99$ flatiron and trust me, it's way bigger than both of those flatiron but it has many functions like you can choose the temperature from 170°C to 230°C, you can add some pure water in it to straighten with steam, and has a function that protects your hair and doesn't let in get damage if you use the flatiron for a long time.
      I straighten my really curly hair once every week (been more than 2 years) and it's not looking damaged. It was definitely worth it, so you should always put in your mind "quality" before the price. But 13$ is way too little to be as good.

    • @jasminerose7148
      @jasminerose7148 6 лет назад

      I feel like 13$ is too cheap and won't last very long. I spent about 37$ on a Miss Mojo with tourmaline ceramic plates and is adjustable up to 440° and it's the longest lasting straightener I've ever bought. Mine would burn out after a year or so this one is 7 years and still going.

    I use the Revlon one and it's always been one of my favorites. It makes your hair very smooth and silky enough to last through the days heat without product. That expensive side looks questionable and i think he did pick it because stylists prefer things that cost more. Look at all the merch they try to throw at you after you get your hair cut.

    • @angelicabountroukas869
      @angelicabountroukas869 7 лет назад +6

      the reason why ALL GHD iron, tongs and wands don't have temperature control is because there is a certain point to where it manipulate the bonds in the hair cuticle (185 degrees) so yeah your bargain $5 iron is great for the price but its not worth it hunny. if its any higher will end up completely destroying the bonds of your hair.

    The ghb side is more curly. There’s a lot of wave on that side. The revlon side is more straight... so don’t be false advertising boyyyyyyy. Don’t lie.
    I’m sure the ghb side feels more smooth. But I’m sure the revlon side would feel just as smooth if it wasn’t as hot.
    If I was going to buy something just to straighten my hair. I would just go with revlon. If I wanted to curl my hair then I would buy a curling iron.....
    Moral of my rant. DONT SPEND $200 on a flat iron.

    • @hippopajamas
      @hippopajamas 7 лет назад +16

      Yes!! I thought the Revlon side looked better, and it wasn't fair to test them at different temps if the Revlon one had a lower option.

    • @ManPanties667
      @ManPanties667 7 лет назад +3

      I mean... people should be able to spend as they please on whatever they please. Unless you’re paying for it yourself, it doesn’t affect you, ya know?
      Not that I could ever afford 200 bucks for an iron, nor would I want to (considering that irons are damaging to hair and that I like my curls). But shit if anyone wants to spend that much, I say go for it. Ain’t my problem.

    • @tashawnlove5928

      Exactly i believe in spending money on flat irons that work i wouldn't buy either bcuz they don't straighten the hair i wouldn't spend 200 but i did spend 100 on mine and it was worth it my flat iron is long about 3 or 4 inches and 1 inch wide its the love of my life basically he was paying for the brand i never heard of and what it looked like

    For someone who has actually owned a Revelon flatiron and who also owns a $300 flatiron.
    Revelon doesn't curl but it does straighten your hair nicely. I had dropped it so many times and have traveled with it and never had issues.
    With my more pricey one, I've dropped it twice and each time the flattening blades fell out. But it does curl.
