Soph I literally thought this was an ad for a waver and the curly side was the result! Your natural hair is so beautiful omg
I think so too. I know she doesn’t like it, but it’s glorious.
Your natural curls are so pretty
Your natural curls are gorgeous! And when you sectioned your hair at 2:44, that half up half down style with the natural texture of your hair looks absolutely beautiful on you! X
You’re the one person I actually *trust* when it comes to online influencers. So I can’t wait to see this! I had my first pair of the very original GHD’s about 17 years ago and they just don’t make them like that anymore. Not even the “originals” on their website are the same as the true OG’s! Looking forward to your thoughts ❤
Yes! I still have mine from 15years ago and nothing compares! I could have gotten this wrong but from what I heard when the original ghd creators parted ways, one got the rights to keep the ghd name and the other got the rights to the tech, who went on to create Cloud Nine straighteners. Have yet to try them as mine is still going strong but would be very interested to know if they compare to the original ghd! 👀
Mine is 16 years old and I am DREADING the day it dies. I love it so much and I know that it is irreplaceable 😂
I've had my OG GHDS for the same amount of time 😂 a few times I've thought shall I buy a new straightener?! Glad I'm not the only one struggling to part with mine.
Have mine for 15 years and it was second hand 🎉🎉
exactly! soph really is *honest* and *real* with her reviews!
Love your natural curls on you ❤
oh my gosh, your natural waves are so gorgeous! it really makes you look so unique. as someone with wavy/curly (2a-3a) hair, i see so much potential with it! i'd be so interested in watching you go through your curly hair journey, if you ever decide to try it!
I know I don't have a say in this, because it is your hair after all, but OMG, I LOVE YOUR NATURAL HAIR SO MUCH 😍😍
I know you dislike your natural hair, but I love it! Always a good day when you post.
Soooo love your natural texture!!!!!!
Here’s hoping your preference changes, and you embrace your natural texture. Your waves/ curls are GLORIOUS. 🤩
Soph your natural curls are so beautiful!😍
Good way to get pin straight hair. Get a rat tail comb but the comb has to have the bristles together run the comb with one hand and the straightener above at the same time. And there you go!!! Pin straight hair that lasts days
Love your natural hair, Soph!!! Also this rhinestone eye look is so cute, I totally want to try it!
thank you!! and definitely give it a go, it’s super easy 😊
Loved the video...very interesting!....i have used several pairs GHD's in the past that have broken soon after their warranty date...but am currently using my first ever Cloud9 straighteners, had then now for about 7 yrs...still going strong...no different in straightening abilities in my opinion to the GHD's, only they dont break as quickly! 💫
Get yourself a tension comb. It’ll change the game for you when you straighten your hair. It holds the tension to the hair when you pull the iron thru to help straighten faster AND it prevents you from touching your hair while styling so you don’t add more oils to your hair from your hand. It’s fantastic.
I personally think GHD has gone downhill over the years, my first set lasted me 10 years but the newer ones don’t last, I’ve gone through 3 sets of “red ring of death light” straighteners, I’ve given up on purchasing them now they are not like they used to be!
i have never had a ghd hair tool, yet i found this video super interesting, i do like hair videos from you, your natural hair is sooooo gorgeous
I’ve started using Avon heat protect. I have natural Afro hair and it makes using straighteners so much better. I also use it when styling my wigs. Xx
Ugh I’d kill for my natural hair to be like yours soph! 😍 mines neither curly or straight, but an irritating inbetween 😂 also.. I feel you on the grey’s.. I’m 27 & all the sides of my hair are going greyyyy! 🤣❤
My hair is also a annoying in between. My natural hair is not curly or straight.😀
Mine was like this after straightening the life out of it for years. Look up what curl type you have and you can probably get it to curl more with some curly girl hacks! My profile picture is super outdated but my hair is now almost out of control curly 😂😂😂 it also helped to tell the hairdresser that I wanted it to curl and getting it cut in a way that supports that
So want to see the natural curls in their full glory 😂😂
I’m gonna have to try it one day 😂 I used to leave it curly for school when I was younger but now I never do!
They are literally the same straighteners some of the claims they make are the same for them and the platinum plus, like the temp check thing is literally listed on both pages. They feel like such a cash grab to get an extra £50 out of customers. Using the platinum plus you could get the exact same results.
You have the most BEAUTIFUL hair. I love your videos, and you always make me smile ❤️❤️
I love your natural hair! Your natural hair is beautiful!😊
I've had my original ghd for 20 years, still work perfectly well, but I've never been one of those people who straighten my hair every day, I maybe use them once every couple of months, but mainly use them to curl my hair ❤
Not a fan of GHD anymore. My old one still works afterb10 years. My platinum model died after 2-3 years and my platinum plus model died 2 years and 2 months after purchase. GHD won't even publish their warranty on the Australian website atleast anymore. I had to email them to find out if it was in warranty and tgey said no but wouldn't tell me what the warranty was but offered my $15 off my next GHD if it was another platinum model. Not impressed at all.
Sophie come on I just bought a freaking platinum plus last month 😭
Next time try going a bit slower down each strand, it gives hair time to warm up and you will rarely have to do 2 or 3 passes. I got that advice from a hairdresser and it really works.
Okay thank you for the tip! 😊
Can u give a review on MQ professional max480 slim titanium straighteners?😭I love ur videos!! Sending lots of love ❤️
My hair dresser told me to spray my dry hair with heat protectant brush it though and then wait for the heat protectant to dry and then straighten etc
i don’t know if you read your comments soph but thank you so much for always posting when we need you
I do read them! thank you for watching I hope you’re okay 🥺❤️
Hiii sophhhh if you see this I just wanted to say how amazing you are! I love your videos sooo much!!
I used to always use my mums straighteners whenever I'd want straight hair, I'm the same as you, I'm curly / wavy naturally but for my birthday last year i got the beauty works x molly mae straighteners, I'm not her biggest follower but they are pretty good if you find them on a sale, i do recommend them :)
Also that picture of hagrid pop up made me laugh cos that's how i feel i look when i brush my hair 😂😂
This was so interesting to watch, thank you so much for reviewing these expensive tools so people can make their mind up whether to buy it or not. I love the side by your side you are incredible and my favourite creator. Hope you, James and pinky are doing okay 💗
I have been using the L’Oréal Steampod for a couple of years now and genuinely only need one pass. They are surprisingly good and would never go back to GHD I don’t think. Loved this video though, your opinions are very trustworthy and your natural hair 😮❤
I just found out a few minutes ago that we have the same birthday !! happy birthday week !
Even damaged your natural hair is gorgeous!!
Love your naturel hair and in ponytail you had once from i old video what i funly saw today just in love🧡🧡🧡
u should try the dyson straightener to be a less damage version of a straighter
Its perfectly normal for your hair to sizzle of you sprayed heat protectant becasue that means its working its burning the product and not the hair it would be doing that to the hair you just cant hear it when you dont have heat protectant!!
Ooh okay thank you! that puts my mind at ease 😂
Your natural hair is so gorgeous! 🥹♥️♥️
The only thing I don't like about GHD's is that they don't have a heat setting.
I love your natural hair but I understand everyone has things there not comfortable with love this video but I have to say you are talking a million miles a minute lol 😅 also wait for the heat protectant to dry or use a hair dryer before hand because it is extremely damaging to curly hair expecially ❤
Your natural hair is gorgeous! In a serious note, you should ideally spray it and wait for it to be dry. Or spray wet hair then dry and straighten. Also, with small sections you can get a single pass if you use thinner sections and go slowly over each part. 😊
Great video soph 😊 I’ve always loved my GHDs, I’ve had them for 20 years and still going strong ☺️
Anyone still using their GHDs from like 17 years ago?? 😂
Was having a bad day, now I can sleep happy after watching this video! Thank you Soph for making our days better!
Girl, your hair looks so pretty with curly hair…❤
Oh you so look like Sabrina Carpenter in the beginning of this video. ❤
I find curls with straighteners go flat in 20 minutes though so always prefer curling irons.
I actually really love the way your straight hair and bangs look! Makes you look even more like Sabrina carpenter in her early days 😍
I dont know if i'm crazy but I think the newer one left your hair shinier! Could be placebo affect though
I think the same! it said on the box the plates are coated to add a glossy shine to your hair, which I think my old ones were too but that coating has probably worn away after years of using them, which would make sense why the new one was shinier! 😊
Honestly think the new ones were faster just because of that, they are new. And if your old ones are 5-6 years old, yes, they will generally be slower because they’ve been used a lot. But I agree. If there isn’t anything majorly wrong with your original straighteners there’s no need to switch them out.
Just casually thinking about it while watching this video and I realised I got my GHDs in…2004!!!! 😩😩😩 They are probably older than most people watching this video!!!! Anyway, I’m off to the old folks home now, byeeeee 👋👋👋
Wrong technique. You need to chase the comb 🤦🏽♀️
My opinion is exactly the same as yours. I’ve had my Platinum + straighteners since 2019 and I wouldn’t go out and buy these because I have no reason to. I’ve always been happy with GHD products though, I used to use my mum’s original GHDs growing up and they were great, and lasted a good 15 years! Just don’t think these are different or revolutionary enough to warrant needing them unless mine break.
Also PS, you natural hair texture is lovely, as someone with similar hair though, I understand it can be difficult to work with.
Your natural hair is beeeautiful Soph! Also, I have been trying to learn how to curl my hair with straightners for like 8 years so I'm hoping this video helps me, I'm 28 and don't know why I find it so hard?? Blaming it on being a leftie.
You’re one of the most honest RUclipsrs on this platform 🫶🏻 Soph your vids are my comforts 🥹
I've always wondered whether I should invest in a pair of GHD's, but I have a pair of Babyliss elegance straighteners that I've had for around 15 years or more, and they're still in perfect condition. I manage to straighten or curl my whole head of hair in around 10 minutes and they still leave my hair really shiny. I guess I'm still on the fence.
You need some curly girl products and lots of moisture into your curls and wear it natural honestly it’s so frigging cute! It’s hard to get passed something when you don’t like it yourself but trust your viewer your hair natural looks amazing on you my fav look actually!!!!!!
I’ve started using Avon heat protect. I have natural Afro hair and it makes using straighteners so much better. I also use it when styling my wigs. Xx
Just to give a bit of help, even if unasked for 😅 but if you go more slowly over your first (should be only) pass through your hair and not have multiple, it’s actually far better for your hair and causes far less damage to the hair follicle.
I give my hair a quick blast with the hairdryer on a cold setting so heat protectant doesn’t sizzle!
If only it took me three minutes to straighten on side of my hair 😂😭
After years of thinking you were supposed to spray heat protectant then use heat tools, I encountered a video saying that you are absolutely supposed to wait for the heat protectant to dry because otherwise you are cooking your hair. I don’t know if they were right. But when I used heat protectant and let it dry before applying heat my hair certainly felt better. But again I do not know, I have no idea. But I will either not use any heat protection or let it dry before heat tools now.
Do I naturally have pin straight hair and never used hair straighter before… yes.. did I watch the whole video .. absolutely 🥰
Sorry but this doesn't count as long as you don't use a small comb for your hair while straightening. You get much better results when detangling with a comb while straightening than without
I actually think the side the new one was used on actually looks significantly nicer after straightening. I dont think its like, worth the money necessarily but i never expected to actually see a real difference in the end result. Its smoother and shinier for suree
I have fine curly hair. Ive never wanted straight hair or i look like ive got 3 hairs. Did i immediately watch this video? Yes absolutely 😂❤
I actually think you look beautiful with your natural hair, different but suits you really well, just need a bit of help to revive and omg ❤
If this is true I could reduce straightening time from 15 to 4 minutes 🙄🤓 that would be wonderful
Omg I always heat protect before I blow dry my hair as when I spray heat protector before I straighten it sizzles 😭
I still got Chronos’ ancestors straighteners after 15 years 😮 so definitely intrigued how technology has changed 😂
My ghd's are the same ones I got 20 years ago. It's insane x
Wow I wish my natural hair were beautifully wavy like yours. Mine is super straight that it’s boring as hell.
There is definitely some marketing behind it cause how would they sell a new product if it wasn’t slightly different from their current line up.
You have to wait the heat protectant to dry or blow dry your hair, before u go and straighten it!!!! I would suggest always blow drying your hair before
This was so helpful! I’ve only had cheaper straighteners and mine are dying after a good 5 odd years so I was going to invest in ghd’s but couldn’t work out whether the newer ones were worth it!
You might find that the straighteners are working better soon the top section because you’re following a brush with your straightener, rather than just running the straightener through by itself
I’ve had locs for 8 years, so why am I watching a video about straighteners? Bc I love soph lol
Please Please Please try out Brad Mondos wavetech. I’d love to see what it does for your hair. I bet the curls would be crazy. ❤❤
My ghds are nearly 20y old 😂😂 I think they was the 3rd ones in collaboration for breast cancer
It straightens better when you use a brush, just using your fingers doesn’t pull the strands straight. I could be wrong, but I think you used the brush more on the second side.
I don't do anything with my sad hair anymore! But having long hair and a bit wavy plus blonde highlights, it would take me 40 minutes to 50 mins to straighten my hair back in the day!! And I had a good flat iron!
Wish you would very Brad mondo’s wave tech just for a comparison/see how it works for you
Soph - can you test the new Dyson Air Strait wet to dry straightener? It looks amazeballs!
Your natural hair is amazing on you you are very beautiful !!! Don't damage it even further and try to revive it. When you want your hair curly or wavy leave your natural hair don't curl it with heat.
Use the brush the whole time right under Your tool the whole time. This is the reason why the one top side did go well, you did it almost perfect there😂❤️ when you curl it is not necessary, but it is important that is it brushed.
Please can you review the new dyson air straightener and compare to ghd 🤩🤞🏼🤞🏼
Hi Soph, have you heard of the Loreal steam Pod? It's super duper expensive but it's supposed to straighten your hair with water damp or something like that and therefore be more gentle? Haven't tried it myself but saw videos of people with curly hair who really liked it.
Lots of love❤ keep doing what you do, cause you are truly one of my favourite RUclipsrs.❤
I’ve had the ones that to are showing ( white and purple ones ) and I’ve easily had them for 10+ years
Aah I love your natural hair! It looks so romantic! As a curly girl whose hair looked like yours, mine just keeps getting curlier and healthier the longer I wear it natural (mostly bc I can't be bothered straightening it though!)
Don't use heat protectant and don't use a brush. The protectant damages ur hair with the heat and the brush crates frizz. Love ur content tho 🫶
Omg i wish it takes me a good 15 mins to do half of my head 🙃
Can you make a more in detail video of you curling your hair with a straightener, I love how it came out! Mine never seems to work the same 😢x
Your natural hair is gorgeous!
Use your heat protect before you dry it you are risking snapping your hair when straightening on damp hair
Sophie where is your phone case from please?? You look stunning btw ❤
💯
You should do curly girl method experiment on your hair for a few months for a video!
To be honest, I thought your natural hair looked stunning, and really suited you. Xx
