    Love the bottle opener idea on a friction folder. You have a real talent bro. Thanks Anthony Kent HAWK woodlore knives UK I'd be proud to own that knife and I am a knife maker. So well done 😀

      @lamproknives  6 лет назад

      Anthony Kent the customer wanted a bottle opener, but on some bottle you can't use it because the "neck" of the bottle is too short
      If the bottle opener was on the other side of the tang, the problem would be solved
      Ha ha thanks but this one is sold
      If you're a knifemaker, give a try to friction folders ! They're really interesting to make ☺

      Stoney327 you're right, I wear them when I'm using the angle grinder, but not with the belt grinder because I can't see anything with them
      But I will put them on, and maybe just use some diving gogles 😂

      Thank you. I've been making knives since 1966 and retired as a shop teacher. I'd NEVER let one of my students OR myself run shop tools without the proper safety gear. I know how easy it is to just say oh well I'll remember next time. I learned my lesson the hard way. In 1968 I ended up in the emergency room with a 12mm long piece of 10mm drill bit in my chin, it snapped off while I was running a drill press. It took the surgeon about an hour to remove it and stitch me up. I still have the scar. Every time I see it, I remember that day and that I should have been wearing a face shield. I was a machinist for a munitions factory. Fortunately they didn't fire me :~)))))
      God bless:

      Stoney327 wow.. I haven't been really injured yet, only when I learn to use a new tool (belt that catches the finger, etc..)
      So no big injuries, I try to follow the safety rules 😉
      I also drives me mad when I see someone using an angle grinder with the sparks throwing up, without a guard or not holding / using it properly

      You sound like a smart young man, you'll do well if you just remember to use common sense. I know my ramblings are all things that you've heard all your life, but I truly worry about people doing things without realizing the consequences. I also know that NO ONE cares UNTIL they get hurt, then (as they say ) hindsight is 20/20, but it's usually too late at that point? Stay well, keep making knives. I make 18th century period correct knives and accessories for the Black Powder shooter and reenactor. I make modern hunting knives too, but my love is the Ooooold stuff. So important
      My dad is a fossils preparator and some weeks ago one of his rotary carving tools snapped, crushed the normal glasses he was wearing and after that hit only a half centimeter under his eye 😬
      I'm allways wearing safety glasses for working with powertools
      And if you keep the glasses clean and have the right light in the shop it's no problem to wear glasses all the time :)

      Oui le logo est une erreur, je n'ai aucune affiliation avec une entreprise, un ami a moi m'a donné ces vêtements pour bricoler et il faut que je découse les logo !

    Good job.
    However why do most people think a folding knife blade has to be so thick ?
    They may be tough and everything, but they don't slice worth a damn.

    • @lamproknives
      @lamproknives  6 лет назад

      Tyler Snyder it's 4mm thick, that's what the customer wanted, and don't worry it shaves nicely ;)

    You should be wearing your drilling stainless steel safety glasses, with your drilling stainless steel face, as the drill bits can shatter.

    Comment tu fais pour que tes rivets ou tes vis n'aient pas de jeu ? J'ai essayé de faire un pliant avec une fausse pièce qui fait ressort, mais comme j'ai un peu de jeu à chaque trou, même si j'y ai fais attention, ça ne fonctionne pas ☹️

    • @lamproknives
      @lamproknives  3 года назад

      Et bien il faut percer au diamètre de la vis ou du rivet, sinon il y a du jeu 😉

    • @StarCoreSE
      @StarCoreSE 3 года назад

      @@lamproknives Oui j'ai essayé ça, j'ai même essayé en perçant 1 mm de moins puis en ajustant à la lime ronde et fine, mais rien à faire.

    • @lamproknives
      @lamproknives  3 года назад

      @@StarCoreSE laisse tomber pour la lime, tu n'auras jamais un beau cercle concentrique. Visiblement tu n'as pas le bon diamètre en perçant, sinon il n'y aurait pas de jeu 🙂
      Prends un pied à coulisse et vérifie que les diamètres sont bien exactement les mêmes entre ta vis et ton forêt 😉

      It happens sometimes! I have carbide bits now, a bit oversize but for full tangs or hidden tangs it does the trick. Best is to not forget to drill before ht 😂
