I have been subscribed for a long time, Jeremy, and I can say without a doubt that the production quality, music choice, and editing have really increased astronomically on your videos. Job well done!
I found Alec just the other day and have been devouring his videos. He lead me to you and now I have stuff to watch for days to come. Catching up on both of you is going to be a lot of fun. I am also getting a ton of ideas for how I want to set up my own work area for when I start to make my own knives.
Even though I am watching this series 10 months after it was uploaded I thoroughly enjoyed it, including the funny back and forth editing with Alec Steele I have never seen that before aside from his video where he made you the Damascus. Back to the knife, definitely a challenge worth taking, you never learn as much as when you try something for the first time and try and feel you way through it. Mechanical knives would be out of most knifemakers comfort zone, but you took it on and had fun. Look forward to watching the frame lock video that you will do with the Damascus from Alec.
Been watching your channel here and there but got to say it's great to see someone not afraid to admit when he's learning and showing it to all!! Great vid
I agree with the finish when you use really any cutting fluid rather than just water. WD40 leave a nice finish. PB blaster is one of my favorite things to use because it actually penetrates the metal
A great little knife, I really like the blade shape a sheep's foot with a little belly, I think is one of the most useful for a general purpose work knife. I like the chunky look it has too.
Hi thank you. I've been asked for friction folders so many times, and said no sorry never made one before. Well thanks to you inspiring video, I'll give it a go to. If I get even half as good as yours I'll be over the moon happy. Love to see Alec working on your Damascus billit . I see his work popping up on other RUclips channels. I've never met him but so proud he's a Brit reaching the whole world. Anthony Kent (HAWK knives UK)
This build was so helpful and was really interesting because it was something entirely new to the channel. This channel has always been one of my favourites and I've been here since just before the 30 day challenge that you completed way back when. I have a challenge for you Jeremy. I'd love to see you make a spring assisted folder like the kershaw leek (one of my favourite folders)... again great job with the channel Jeremy. Your channel has been a part of my daily routine for a long time!
You could really have a show in TV, your videos are really well done, entertaining, and of course informative. I would rather watch SLL than a lot of shows on the networks.
Suggestion for wet sanding while on the granite block, hold the blade with a magnet? you could even make a custom one out of a piece of aluminum you use for the sanding blocks, drill some holes in it in a grid and press fit some small neodymium magnets into them. add a small handle to the top to top it off
I really enjoyed your folder knife series. Your videos editing has improved greatly. Looking forward to your collaboration with Alec! Think Damascus! Cheers!
Nice build vlog, Thanks for the detailed content, being walked thru your process made me much more confident with the basic process. The stop pin tweaking was spit on!
Hey Jeremy watch your videos every night. Your video content and editing is awesome as usual. Keep up the great work your efforts are much appreciated. A fan from North Carolina.
I've always loved the content of your vids, but keep up the fantastic work with your edits! You are getting really, really good at making the content of your videos look as polished as it can be. wonderful.
Came here from Alec's video. Great stuff you're doing here! I really like knives and learning more about making them is always great. Nice to learn about new materials too! Keep up the great work!
Looks good, Jeremy! Looking forward to the collab build. If you're going to test the friction folder as an EDC, just try to remember that it's NOT a locking folder! We get so used to the modern mass-produced pocket knives... I lost an EDC a few years back and subbed in an older non-locking knife. Took me less than 48 hrs. to slice myself. LOL Yeah... not too bright......
Gotta thank Alec for sending me over to your vlog. Can't wait to see how a fellow Albertan shapes Alec's damascus (the tat on your arm gave it away and the Alberta plates on the wall confirmed it).
Windex also helps not to rust the blade during the polishing, at least on my experience. When I use Water to wet the Sandpaper the blade usualy pops whith rust.
Simple little life ...... This project came out great. for being your first try you have some mad skills. Hats off sir and to add your video content is extreamly intuitive and very helpful keep up the great work and I cant wait to see what you put together for your Damascus folder build.. Cheers, Martin M&S Blades
Playing catch-up on channels and nice to hear about the collaboration with you and Alec. Been watching most videos on the T.V. So I don't have the option to 'Thumbs Up' videos and usually forget to go back on the iPhone/ MAC to do that. Still here and still supporting. Congrats again and keep up the good work!
Just sign on after being directed from Alec Steele's channel. Must say very excited for the future collabs. and your content is on point, really good. Only suggestion I would make for you next friction folder is keep the material on the opening tab a little thicker so it sticks out strong in the open position, this way you can add jimping to rest a thumb while holding the knife. This is my personal preference
I've seen some of your videos in the past and I am not sure was I was not already subscribed... but I fixed that today. I try to keep up with Alec as much as I can. Looking forward to the Damascus project.
I’ve seen many different lubricants used for sanding like water different oils wd40 and windex. I’ve tried them all and windex is by far my favorite also. It seems to leave a better finish. 400 grit is good for many knives using windex where I’d usually have to go up to 600-1000 without using windex
What about replacing the small spacer at the back of handle and adding a bottle opener as well to make the knife even more useful? The cutting edge does the work, and bottle opener to get the bottle open for the celebration of the hard work done.
Thanks Alec for sending me here, spent last night playing catch up on this channel. As always Alec was on point with his recommendation , Jeremy....awesome content, helpful, honest and beautiful videography. Well done Sir 👍🏼 -Matt King QLD Australia/via NZ of course. Go the All Blacks👍🏼👍🏼
+Scott Sweet thanks man! I do my best to disregard the haters, and it certainly seems I'm meeting more and more great people so I think you're spot on there! Cheers my friend👍
Great job, glad to see you progress into folding knives. Awesome video. I look forward to watching your progress each day. And I love your shop btw. Also Ide love to see you experiment and start doing flippers on bearings, titanium handles with anodizing and everything in between. You seem like a really smart guy, I know you could figure it all out.
Okey I have to try to make a friction folder now. Amazing knife and nice way of shooting and editing the video! You won a new subscriber sir haha btw from I'm here because of Alec.
BEAUTIFUL VIDEO and a STUNNING KNIFE!!

+Alec Steele thank you Alec! Much appreciated!👍

@@Simplelittlelife and furthermore whats a clown donkey?
Can't wait to see what you have in mind with the Damascus from Alec.
+SLAVIK TELY I have a sketch done up, but who knows what will happen when I see the damascus....I've never even touched Damascus before😀👍
There is first time for everything. It is the same as any mild high carbon steel.
You grown so much as a film maker and a knifemaker Jeremy, watching your videos is a pure pleasure.
The door to folding knives are now open. Oh the possibilities. Always love your video's. Thanks
I have been subscribed for a long time, Jeremy, and I can say without a doubt that the production quality, music choice, and editing have really increased astronomically on your videos. Job well done!
Glad to see you and Alec working together! 2 spectacular channels!!
Pleasure to watch you work. Love your enthusiasm.
Thank you so much! Cheers 👍
I really loved you using the b-reel to give a sense of time during the tempering.

Catching up on both of you is going to be a lot of fun.

Definitely!

Wonderful work my friend I am an Iraqi soldier I follow you from Iraq with some of my friends
Such a well made video and knife! Great job!
I agree with the finish when you use really any cutting fluid rather than just water. WD40 leave a nice finish. PB blaster is one of my favorite things to use because it actually penetrates the metal
That's so sweet dude. Forget that it's your 1st one, it turned out great whether it's your 1st or 10th. Love it. Cool EDC.
That's something to be proud of good sir! Nice clean lines on that one! You keep getting better and better!
A great little knife, I really like the blade shape a sheep's foot with a little belly, I think is one of the most useful for a general purpose work knife. I like the chunky look it has too.
NICE! Can't wait to see you collaboration with Alec and how the Damascus knife turns out!

Great build. Yeah, the "unseen" advantage of collaboration, more people find your channel (and theirs). Glad I found you through Alec's channel.
Hey my friend, that turned out really nice. Good clean lines, simple, yet elegant, well done! Excited as well for the collab with Alec.
+NuManXplore thanks Nathan! I'm nervous! Mostly because I've never made something like this, and I only have one piece of steel 😬😆👍. Cheers my friend!
Came here from Alec's video. Great stuff you're doing here! I really like knives and learning more about making them is always great. Nice to learn about new materials too! Keep up the great work!

80Crv2 is also a great starter steel, easy to harden aswell! Also really good performance, used often in nordic knives.
So awesome. I MUST try this! Beautiful work as always!
Wow that looks amazing and I can't wait to see the next video adventure. Thanks for the great video adventure.
Have a great day
Super nice, love the camera work and music in this one. The knife came out really awesome, you are very talented!
Gotta thank Alec for sending me over to your vlog. Can't wait to see how a fellow Albertan shapes Alec's damascus (the tat on your arm gave it away and the Alberta plates on the wall confirmed it).
huge kudos for documenting this build, I know it takes so much extra time to set up the camera/edit etc...regards from England
Great job Jeremy, really waiting for you to be able to make that other one with the Damascus. Keep up the great job.
Love that knife! Great work
I agree with what you said about windex, ever since I started using it instead of oil, even 100 grit sandpaper leaves a nice finish
Well next a linerlock or a frame lock!!That is awesome as a first folder, nice work!!
+k o thank you so much!
nice work on this project, really glad alec sent me to here
Probably the best edited how-to knife video on youtube to date. The devil is in the details, great edit!
+probe3 thank you so much!

Awesome knife. Less awesome cutoffs.
Very cool. Thanks for the video!
looks great. for your next maybe try phosphor bronze washer. they'll last a lot longer and will be much smoother
