coolirpa: I'm a 62 yr young woman who first started in fashion merchandising but went on to other things; I made my clothes all through high school. I enjoy watching your videos and may start backing sewing. Keep doing a great job with your talent.
I guess im asking the wrong place but does anyone know of a way to get back into an instagram account? I was dumb lost my login password. I love any tricks you can give me
In addition to trying on while you alter....BASTING things together may take just a tad bit longer but is a heck of a lot easier than sewing and then having to Rip Out and start all over again !
If she wanted to keep the style integrity intact with the skirt, she would have used the excess from the sleeves and made a less exaggerated flare, but she wanted business in the front, party on the sides, and it really works with her style.
That suit is SO fun. What a fantastic find and such a clever re-imagination of its possibility! I especially love that the silver has a texture of its own, like the plaid.
I appreciate you explaining the steps as you are doing them. It would be great if you told us start to finish how long it took to do each project! Seam ripping and pinning seems to take forever and it would be nice to know how long it takes for a skilled person. Lol...Keep up the great work! Very inspiring to watch!
Hi April! I'm popping in as a concerned fellow crafter. I'm a costumer and I regularly attach embellishments with e6000. That glue is INCREDIBLY toxic and can poison you over time. Please wear a fume respirator to protect yourself! They're an inexpensive item online, and a must for working with caustic chemicals.
@@Ddrhl www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/33347-e6000-warnings-read-them-and-wear-a-respirator/ here, do some googling too. It release a toxin that is stored in your fat cells. I like the white dress and the black dress so much. I especially like the white one because you took great care to take it in evenly on all seams as you described. So professionally done!!! God Bless.
I use to sew some in Highscool and college. Now watching your videos has me excited to sew again!...Its awesome to see all the possabilities of what can be created.👍😊
Love the CK dress... you were right to take in seams equally all panels easy fix....I also sometimes use a universal needle to take in knit tops and dresses. Great picks! Easy fixes for even a basic sewer....I live in the tropics where we have a rainy season and a dry season. I shop our local markets that have huge loads of clothing shipped in from the USA often retail end of season things unsold on sale...some really great brands make it here in high quality fabrics...new with tags on often. Like you, being a sewer, I go for quality of fabric first and then upper bodice fit if I can...reduces the amount of refix I have to do. I have an hourglass figure so almost every button up shirt (and other tops) I buy I have to make two vertical darts front and back to fit my waist nicely...I buy those for shoulder and bust size. I also have to often take up extra sleeve fabric when the arms are too wide...ugh hate that...so irritating but I am getting new stuff for $3.00US a piece and great fabric so...I couldn't buy the fabric and incidentals for those prices. I SHOP dry season then remake during the rainy season as our mercado gets too muddy and wet for me to deal with then. I have a super wardrobe for pennies on the dollar.
I recently stumbled upon your channel and love it. I went to fashion design school but sadly don’t work in the industry. I’d love to see you do a video making a sloper pattern for yourself. I personally felt like having a pattern of my body made creating custom garments and even alterations so much easier. The way you trace garments that fit you well is an amazing trick for those without a pattern making background but I think your teaching skills are so good that you could figure out a way to show your subscribers how to make a sloper too.
Thank you for this tutorial. It's really helpful when you mention which type of stitch to use along the way. At times, you don't mention it, so I guess you use a straight stitch. Would you mind mentioning for each step which stitch to use for beginners who are watching? Again, I appreciate the tutorial. You're giving me confidence to go thrifting!
If you need to hold trim or something similar down while the glue takes clothes legs are a great option. They are designed to hold over a reasonable length so fit down over the edge of bags or similar much better than bulldog clips do.
I love these quick fixes. Thank you for the great tutorial. It encourages me not to be afraid of mixing materials and try out different patterns. Work outfit can be fun!
I love the Calvin Klein dress on you.. I just saw a very beautiful Cult Gaia dress that was unbuttoned after the top 3 buttons at top and they had matching shorts worn underneath. That would be cool to try with the dress you have. You are motivating me to sew again and I spent this week and last altering and up cycling thrifted clothing I have had for a while now. Thanks so much for your amazing videos!
So cute! Love them all! At first i was appalled at the straw purse but i then thought, "gotta trust april, she knows what she's doing" and I was not let down! 😆
I love your fashion sense! I would love to see you cater an online clothing boutique or even sell some of your thrifted pieces! They would be so unique! 😍
Love the makeovers!! You are such a wonderfully talented young woman, and you explain your tutorials so well. I get such inspiration from you. Thank you!!
The dedication on that long white dress... wow! Also a great tutorial on that jacket sleeve - there are so many old man's check blazers in charity shops in the UK... I want to tailor some to fit me! xx
I'm from Brazil and I do not understand muuuuch of English but I love your channel and I'm surprise at how creative and wonderful you are. I will learn more english to undertsand you!!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏💜💜💜💜💜
you always inspire me to get back into sewing! I don’t really sew much anymore but your videos always make me want to get back into it. Also loved that last outfit, real 30s chic vibes ✨
Love this. Wish I had the help to help me spot some gems like this in the thrift store. We dont have the best thrift stores where I live anyways but got to appreciate what you have.
Great tutorial! I really like how all your projects came out. I have to admit my least favorite was your take on the skirt. I seen you do something like this for a relative special event. I still find this instruction useful in altering an item to make it fit. You doing a great job. I wish you could do a collaboration with Blueprintdiy. I really enjoyed the one you did with DIY Designer. Thanks for sharing and continued blessing in 2019.
You have such good taste! And amazing designer skills, you see hidden treasures in places not a lot of people do, and I admire that. Keep doing what you do!
Hi April. Can you please make a video on how to add front pockets to trousers or pants for the office? It’s hard to find pants with pockets and in petite short size too. I hem my pants myself but do not know how to add on seam pockets. Thank you 😊
Can you do a video on how to turn a jumpsuit into a mid length dress? I’ve been trying to find the best way to do it but really like your style and instruction the best. I really enjoy your videos!
No hem on the silver triangles? Oh, and btw, thanks to your videos (especially showing ways of gathering), my ugly old shoe rack has a lovely skirt and top on it from a shower curtain I've had from forever. Thanks!

I would love to see a closet tour. To see how much of your transformed clothing has stayed in !
Business in the front, party on the side. Haha

Gia Alvarado hi, can we be friends?
In addition to trying on while you alter....BASTING things together may take just a tad bit longer but is a heck of a lot easier than sewing and then having to Rip Out and start all over again !
The dresses were altered beautifully. The skirt looked best before than after. The purse was altered perfectly!
If she wanted to keep the style integrity intact with the skirt, she would have used the excess from the sleeves and made a less exaggerated flare, but she wanted business in the front, party on the sides, and it really works with her style.
I was just to write the same about the skirt!
That suit is SO fun. What a fantastic find and such a clever re-imagination of its possibility! I especially love that the silver has a texture of its own, like the plaid.
I am amazed at how you can take a frumpy dress and make it beautiful! 💖
I LOVE what you did with the Calvin Klein dress. It is a classic style that looks best draped like you altered it.
I appreciate you explaining the steps as you are doing them. It would be great if you told us start to finish how long it took to do each project! Disliked first skirt. Everything else, rocked!
It's not for everyone ;)
I thought I was going to dislike it (flowy fabric with stiff fabric is always a risk) and it actually looks awesome! higher chances, higher rewards!
N. Tali yeah the fabric at the sides was to big and were flappy
Love those two long dresses, the new fit os great on you. I like dresses that hug my waist, too.
