My 2019 SX 195 came with the shipping cover. So I don't think all the dealers throw them out, but I threw it out because I was storing my boat in the garage. I wish I knew what I do now, Would have given it to someone who needs it.
I bought my boat brand new and had to wait for it to come in. Asked about the shipping cover and the dealer said they throw them out, I wouldn't want it anyway. But I've often wished I had it. BTW, Your engine compartment is cleaner than my kitchen table.
Holy crap Leon, amazing engine bay! I do my best to simple green and rinse my engine bay as well. But wow, yours is lick-polished! Love the "long term storage" tips! Keep it up buddy!
@ as far as the engine area, unless you already have a video out, what exactly do you do as far as cleaning? I’ve seen numerous videos by others about spraying things down, etc. Assuming that you are just using the right type of cleaner and wiping it down - no protective coatings, etc. My boat is newer but purchased used with about 300 freshwater hours. It doesn’t look as good. I will be using in salt water and using the salt away.
@@peterkaputsos4125 I know many recommend spraying down the whole engine with a protectant like Yamashield or CRC Marine, etc. I never got into the habit of doing that. My concern is that sometime a film is left that could attract dirt and grime, or so I think. I never get saltwater on the engine so it really stays clean on its own. Once in a while I would spray some fresh water on it and wipe it down. I do vacuum dirt and wipe down the white fiberglass. Being the original owner definitely helps, you do what you can :).
When shopping for our 24 222SE, one dealer said they weren't allowed to give them to customers. The tag on the bottom of the cover says that it can be used by the customer for winter storage. We've gotten the cover with both of our Yamaha boats
Side question for you, keeping the boat outside for so many seasons, have you experienced fading of the gelcoat? Or the waxing at the start/end of season provides enough protection to keep it from fading. So you moving south? We moved from LI to NC 22 years ago and still loving it.
Hello Captain Leon I just recently had my boat shipped from Florida to Cozumel Mexico. My question is is it OK to leave my boat sitting in saltwater at the marina?? And what would you do to properly take care of it?
Love Cozumel! Most beautiful water around. The short answer is no. The problem with these boats is while you can bottom paint the hull with an anti-fouling paint, there is no way to protect the intake grate and jet pump from growth of barnacles and other sea life. The growth will impede the clean flow of water through the pump. You can leave it in for short periods, but it needs to be pulled out regularly to be power washed. Sorry, not much you can do.

Leon, your engine looks brand new as does the bilge area. What you’re doing definitely pays off.
Thanks Bro!

Good going Kevin!
Hey, captain Leon. Can you tell me where you get the tech bulletin.? Or can you just post it somewhere
You on any of the Yamaha Facebook pages?

Just visiting at our Condo in Florida. Some fading on the gel coat, but where mine sits on the trailer it doesn't get direct sunlight for too long.
@@CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore thank you sir!

Is that the original shipping cover from when you bought the boat?
Yes, I have two of them, one is the original the other a back up. The one on the video is in slighter better shape than the other.
