I'm definitely picking up where I left off. I only have three reactions to Pentatonix so far at the time of me posting this and here is the playlist for them. I will be updating this with each reaction I do so be sure to save it! ruclips.net/p/PLG217Y9Pofu4-pZQV_o1Rvkuepl2tCdoU
This is probably my 4000th reaction video I’ve seen, but this was my favorite! Your musical knowledge mixed with your kindness and enthusiasm just makes my day!! 🌼
This was a low budget production made in A closet..and won their first Grammy for it. I’m ready to take the trip down that hole with you! Any Pentaholic knows and understands the copyright issues and have come to expect some alterations to the videos…you won’t find a bad PTX video..so you could basically just put the in a hat and draw one out..but better start now so you’ll be ready by Christmas for new stuff..because they simply own Christmas!☺️🤗‼️
for a solid month i'd get home from work, drink to GortheMovieGod reactions, and once I was drunk, I'd pull up Pentatronix Daft Punk reactions. there were so many, I went through them all. now they leak through bi-weekly, new reactors. but I was obsessed with this rendition for a while there. Mitch's lines ran through my head while I was trying to sleep.
I don't mind text over, faded, skewed, whatever you need to do. I've seen their videos so many times, I watch reactors for their reaction to a group that I think are the best a Capella group around. There's not just a simple rabbit hole to follow with Pentatonix, there's a whole dam warren! ; )
Pentaholics are ok with whatever you have to do to be able to react to them. Most of us have seen their music so many times we can visualize the videos in our heads. We'll all go down this rabbit hole with you no matter how they are presented, just to enjoy watching your enjoyment of awesome music. So excited for you to enjoy their music and their Christmas upgrades have made me enjoy Christmas music again. I even listen to them when it's not Christmas. Looking forward to your joy for good music.
There's a reason they won a Grammy for Best Arrangement, Instrumental, or A Cappella for this tune. All of them have insane vocal control, beautiful and varied tones, fantastic harmonies, and mind-blowing arrangement skill. The only other a cappella group I've heard that can even hold a candle to them is Home Free. They changed the way people think about a cappella music, there's no question they're goated.
@@whatitdodave tbh, and IMO, voice play can sing, but their videos make me think of horrible children's theater. I flat out refuse to listen or watch them. Yes, I have seen some. Not impressed. Home Free is fun. More of a country vibe. Avi is friends with Tim Foust and is in 2 of their videos. PTX really brought a Capella to the forefront of popular music. PTX doesn't do covers, they do upgrades. The best example of this is Kiiara's Gold. If you have never heard/seen this, watch the original, just to see how well PTX blows it out of the water. And it shows just how good PTX is at arranging. That, and buckle up, because Mitch removes the roof.
I’m right there with you, this song has me dancing like a FOOL all throughout my house. It occurs to me my neighbors also see me dancing like a fool, through my windows. NO Regrets. I love every minute.
Loved it, subbed and belled! can't wait for: Wizzard of ahhs, Radioactive, 2016 popspring (3 originals plus MJ evolution), Love again (original), Gold, and imagine. (Ok, top on my mind now.) Us Pentaholics are along for the ride! 😁😁😎
This reaction made me smile so much - truly ear to ear. I love your knowledge of these songs, and the joy you showed on the video. Subscribed 100 percent.
I've just found you, but love your reaction to PTX. If you loved this, try their original Love Again, and since you mentioned Michael Jackson, try their Michael Jackson Medley.
Loved your reaction! That run at the end is Scott (white hair in this video) who is the king of riffs and runs in this group! And speaking of echos of MJ in Mitch's voice, please check out their Evolution of Michael Jackson. I think you'll love it.
I've been waiting to see Dave react to this song. Not only is it a fun listen, but it's technically flawless and I knew he'd love it. And the facial expressions are awesome. Definitely check out Love Again too!
If I were you, I’d start at the beginning, with their performances on The Sing-Off. That’s where you’ll learn the most about them, and see their ultra-fast transformation from a trio of singing friends and a random (operatic) bass and (kick-ass) beatboxer, to a perfectly synced group that never fails to impress. They learned so much on that show, and you can easily see them learning, and improving (somehow), and implementing the judges’ tips immediately. They still use those tips to amaze with every new hit.
OMG, watching your enjoyment of this video was EXACTLY what I needed today!! No worried about the text, whatever you have to do! Looking forward to more PTX!!!
So glad ur back to Pentatonix! Please go down the rabbit hole now that i know how to avoid the copyright issues. Us Pentaholics have seen all their videos a bunch of times, no problem doing it the way ur doing it 🙌🙌🙌❤️❤️❤️
Did you know that this was created for a total of $400. It was recorded in a closet and filmed in a kitchen. They won a Grammy for it. Welcome on into the rabbit hole. It's warm and welcoming. Genuine appreciation for this group and the magic they create will win over the pentaholics. Watch your numbers as you react to more of their videos. Try Can't Hold Us. Loved yor reaction. 1st time viewer instant subscriber. Hope and Joy to all.
That final breakdown...I love that each of them are do their own verses then sync up SO perfect on the "Feelin so free" line then broke off again. That was CLEAN
Maybe the best reaction to this video Ive seen! I started following you for Bo Burnham content but PTX has my heart. Excited for this journey. My favorites are New Rules x Are You That Somebody, Sound of Silence, Can't Hold Us. Additionally, you really gotta Check out Superfruit, which is a side group with two of the members here - Scott, the tall blonde one with the riff you liked at the end, and Mitch, the one with the high pitched that sang the part you said you thought was MJ on the original. The two of them together are amazing, their entire Future Friends album is banger after banger with some funky beats and amazing harmonies, a literal crime they never got any airplay.
Go down the hole, Dave. Especially their earlier stuff before Avi left is my favorite from them! Also, Avi is the bass. You’ve reacted to his solo work as well as “Ring of Fire” where he was featured on Home Free’s cover.
I'm so glad you went back to these guys - I guarantee you're in for the rabbit-hole ride of your life! And don't worry about having to cover the videos up for copyright purposes - us Pentaholics have already seen the originals a hundred times, we're here to watch YOU react. 😁
Love that you are back to Pentatonix! I listen to them on a daily basis! My go-to feel good group! Their label is a hinderance to reactors but the video opacity option has seemed to work well for many along with pausing for commentary. Pentatonix fans understand video manipulation in order to get the videos through. Would love for you to take this group on and go down their huge rabbit hole of videos/live performances/solo stuff/Superfruit (Mitch & Scott's channel)! Thanks for this reaction and your thoughts! Oh yes, Kirstin's side smile while singing is a wonderful little thing that we all love! Love that you noticed! Scott's dirty riffs and runs! He's the king!
The pure joy of your reaction is perfect! Pentatonix is a definite rabbit hole that is totally worth it! There is a live version where they are just standing around in a room, and they do all they skipping and effects- amazing! Grammy worthy for sure!!
Now that you've seen the official video, look up the "Private Performance" the recording is not great (cell phone) - but 100% all just voices. Love the reaction!!
this is the first reaction video of yours to pentatonix that i've seen and it was amazing! honestly, my first introduction to pentatonix as well, so thanks for introducing me to them, dave! :D Keep killin' it out there, Dave!
This is my favorite piece from them. Maybe it's 'cause I'm a little delirious from being sick, but I actually started crying a little at the end. Seeing serious talent has always had my eyes watering. There's probably 15 songs I can't listen to without crying 😅
You know your Daft Punk. I can't tell you how many reactors do not know Daft Punk, but they try to react to this video. Thank you for your expert breakdown. I look forward to you jumping back down that PTX rabbit hole. Let me introduce them to you, Dave. Mitch (counter tenor) has the black hair and the white sweater (you liked the tone of his voice). Kirstie, which rhymes with thirsty, is a mezzo soprano. Scott with the white hair is a baritone and the king of runs and riffs. Avi, pronounced AH-vee, with the beard is the bass. Kevin with the futuristic glasses is the beatboxer who sings tenor and high baritone when he sings. I just subbed. Do what you have to do so you can react to PTX.
Dynamite reactions and review of what you will discover are five musical savants!! Thoroughly enjoyed you and your joy in reviewing Daft Punk cover by PTX!!
I’d love to see you react to “Evolution of Beyoncé”. The official video is live! Also, since you mentioned Michael Jackson, they have a video for “Evolution of Michael Jackson” - also live
They work with an arranger, Ben Bram, who has been with them since the beginning. You haven't taken a look at their Sing-Off competition episodes - Ben was with them back then too, he was a new arranger working with the show. That's where it all began, back in autumn 2011. Ben shared the Grammy Awards with them for this one and Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy.
This is soooo good. I love the visuals too. I can't remember if you reacted to their version of Dreams but you should react to it. It will blow your mind.
Gotta check their Evolution series starting with Evolution of Michael Jackson! PTX Just has been awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame for 2023!! These guys and Home Free are top notch at their crafts!! JUST LOVE ALL THEIR HARMONIES!!!
Yay ! So glad you are trying Pentatonix again. Congrats for getting around the block. What you are doing is what a lot of the other reactors do -- alter the video by making it smaller, increasing the transparency and / or overlaying a graphic. As long as I can still see enough to know what's going on I'm good; I'm watching to hear your reaction and have seen the video many times before. Subscribing in hopes of more PTX
Welcome back to the rabbit hole. Check out the Evolution of series for more mashups that have the benefit of being recorded live in a single take. Personally a fan of the Michael Jackson and Rihanna ones
I love all your reaction videos! I'd love to see you react to their evolution (medley) videos, especially evolution of Michael Jackson, Rhianna and Arianna Grande. They're unbelievable and are filmed in 1 take! I hope you continue down the rabbit hole! Lol. I'd also love to see you react to Melanie Martinez and Ashnikko 💕
Yessss! Love that ur gonna do reactions to Pentatonix again 🙏 I definitely recommend their live/acoustic cover of Sia's(?) Gold and their rendition of bohemian rhapsody it's literally the only cover that (imo) keeps up with the original ♥️
O.K.----Now you HAVE to do "The Evolution of Michael Jackson"! I believe that the "Evolution" MVs don't have the same copyright issues you ran into previously. Or maybe it's just the early ones. Anyway---off you go!
This video gave me an idea if you haven't done this before. There are channels out there such as Song Breaker Workbench that will do altered versions of songs. (that channel in particular loves them some Sabaton) It would be cool to see you maybe analyze the differences you hear and give your opinion on which version you overall prefer. Maybe a once a week WIDD "What It Do Differently" to have a bit of wordplay fun on your channel name.
Great reaction. I would love to see you react to Avi Kaplan (bass) solo stuff. So good. I recommend Change on the rise or I'm only getting started. Both are great.
From what I’ve read in comments on a number of videos, Kevin and Avi were living together at the time, and because Sony dropped their record deal 2 weeks after they won the Sing Off, so the audio was recorded in Kevin and Avi’s closet, and the video was recorded and edited on a laptop in their kitchen. I believe the audio was still mixed professionally by their team, but I don’t recall who did it at the time. This was their first Grammy that put them back on the board after Sony dropped them, and the budget was only like $400 or so.
@@tattedsithgaming I agree. I seem to recall reading somewhere that a different branch of Sony Records picked them back up sometime after this, but I could be wrong on that. Regardless, I’m glad they didn’t give up their dream and kept pushing. I know peoples opinions vary greatly regarding PTX, simply because not a lot of people like the pop style, but even if they aren’t your cup of tea, you can’t argue the huge and lasting impact they had on the world of a cappella.
The information gets so messy. Sony dropped them in 2011, this video was 2013 so the timeline doesn't work. They were dropped, they did some work on their own and then they were picked up by a subsidiary of Sony - Madison Gate - which was very small and mostly did soundtracks. Basically, they helped them put out the EPs but had no budget for PR or videos... so PTX started their Patreon, which is why top tier Patrons are still credited on their videos. This video going viral DID get PTX elevated from Madison Gate to RCA, the flagship production arm for Sony, where they still were up until a few months ago (unless they did renew and I missed it). As for the rest... they had a professional studio booked but it fell through at the last minute and with the tight timetable, they recorded the audio in the closet and the video in the kitchen. That's about all that's true about the stories that get around. Both audio and video were recorded professionally. The $400 budget was for supplies like the contacts, they paid a LOT more to Fifgen Films who shot the video and edited it... definitely not in the kitchen (the early couch videos were done on Mitch's iPad and I think that's where some of this comes from). But there's an interview with Fifgen still around on a professional lighting vlog with behind the scenes photos and info on the video.
@@perfectkismet oh wow thanks so much for that info. That is by far the most in depth answer/comment I’ve seen on the subject, so I genuinely mean that, thank you. :) I’m in no way very knowledgeable about any of their career steps, especially as a fairly new pentaholic (listened to some of their stuff in the early days, but was too young at the time to follow too in depth, only started really listening to them more consistently last summer) so everything I know is from RUclips comments. I knew that there was somewhat of a gap between Sony dropping them, this video and the follow up record label they gained, but I didn’t realize it was around 2 years. And as I mentioned I did know that the audio was professionally done, but knew nothing of the professional video team or the skewed details regarding the $400 budget that everyone mentions. Honestly after reading your details on them, I now feel fairly ignorant in blindly repeating things I read in comments without doing my own research to back it up 🤷🏼♂️ but hey, I learned something new about my own actions as well as lots of new details on the startup that PTX had, so I’m fine with that :)
I wish you would begin reacting to them again. Other reactors I've seen change the color or make it a little more translucent or cut off a quadrant of the box. I've found you playlist of PTX Superfruit reactions and there is so much you've missed especially with the newer live performances. And I love your input. I love acapella. It amazes me. And Mitch Grassi is probably my favorite singers next to gospel singer David Phelps. I'm gonna search and see if you have reacted to Brian Justin Crumb from the Superfruit Rise song. If not check out his renditions on AGT. Your Song by Elton John and Creep by Radiohead...well he knocks them out of the park. He's a powerhouse
I'd honestly just go with the text over the video from the jump. With RCA/Sony, even if your video gets by for a while unedited, they could still come back and pull it sometimes even months later... and you lose all the views and comments having to reupload the edit. Fans definitely expect opacity shifts and overlays at this point.
nice reaction. please revisit the rabbit hole known as pentatonix. pentatonix fans known as pentaholics understand about the copy right issues and we don't mind if you need to use filters or text so you can upload your reactions....we only care about the music and your reaction to their music. That being said...i looked up your playlist for pentatonix. Pentatonix has won 3 grammys. one for daft punk which you just reacted to....the other grammy award winning songs are ...dance of the sugar plum fairies and jolene w/ dolly parton. Pentatonix has such a massive library of songs both covers and originals. There are way too many to list but I will list some that you may want to react to besides the 2 other grammy award winning songs i listed.....mad world, royals, bohemian rhapsody (quite simply the best cover of that classic rock song....it took them 5 yrs to do this video because they wanted it to be as close as possible to the original..even brian may of queen posted their cover of this song and typed "enjoy"), problem, 90's dance medley, wizard of ahhhs (a compilation of many pop songs arranged to tell the classic story of wizard of ahhhs) [ CHALLENGE ALERT: HOW MANY SONG WILL YOU KNOW IN THIS VIDEO..that would be fun to see], hey momma/hit the road jack, i need your love, attention, despacito x shape of you, carol of the bells, little drummer boy, the prayer, o come all ye faithful, and so many others. some originals are sing, love again, run to you, happy now, love me when i dont, coffee in bed, be my eyes, never gonna cry again, the lucky ones. Pentatonix also did an album during the height of the pandemic which was done entirely in their own homes, separately, then mixed called "at home". songs include...home, blinding lights, when the party's over, break my heart, dreams. PLEASE DO MORE REACTIONS OF PENTATONIX. THANK YOU FOR YOUR REACTIONS AND HAVE A BLESSED DAY.
pentatonixs owes you money for showing this, you didnt hate on them so they owe you. not to mention this isnt even even an original idea from them. you are advertising them without pay, so you should be able to show everything
If I could make some money off of my copywrited videos such as this one, that’d be nice haha. The “fair use” law is laughable. I wonder how much money reactors have made them over the years? Has to be in the 100s of thousands.
I'm definitely picking up where I left off. I only have three reactions to Pentatonix so far at the time of me posting this and here is the playlist for them. I will be updating this with each reaction I do so be sure to save it!

They're unbelievable and are filmed in 1 take! I hope you continue down the rabbit hole! Lol. I'd also love to see you react to Melanie Martinez and Ashnikko 💕
We've seen the video... text over it is fine as long as we get to see your reaction!
I so love your faces here 😂🤍✨
They don't do covers... They do upgrades!
React to the beatboxer Kevin Olusola doing Down it will blow you away
If you like the precision of there work, listen to Gold! It is one of the best . Proof that there are no groups as good at what they do as Pentatonix.
Welcome and just keep going. You ain’t seen nothin yet. Couple faves of mine are GOLD and Dancing on my own covers
Yessss! Love that ur gonna do reactions to Pentatonix again 🙏
I definitely recommend their live/acoustic cover of Sia's(?) Gold and their rendition of bohemian rhapsody it's literally the only cover that (imo) keeps up with the original ♥️
Gold was by Kiiara not Sia.
Funny that you mentioned Micheal Jackson. They have done an evolution of MJ you should check out. Mitch shines as usual. Hello from Guyana.
Here ya go.

Recommend their The Prayer.
Well worth the wait, Man!
O.K.----Now you HAVE to do "The Evolution of Michael Jackson"! I believe that the "Evolution" MVs don't have the same copyright issues you ran into previously. Or maybe it's just the early ones. Anyway---off you go!
Try Thriftshop where they rap in sync
This video gave me an idea if you haven't done this before. There are channels out there such as Song Breaker Workbench that will do altered versions of songs. (that channel in particular loves them some Sabaton) It would be cool to see you maybe analyze the differences you hear and give your opinion on which version you overall prefer. Maybe a once a week WIDD "What It Do Differently" to have a bit of wordplay fun on your channel name.
Great reaction. I would love to see you react to Avi Kaplan (bass) solo stuff. So good. I recommend Change on the rise or I'm only getting started. Both are great.
I have reactions to avi

Fab isn't it? Subscribed for more PTX.
Whats even more crazy is that this was recorded in I believe Scott or Kevins closet because of issues with the studio they were supposed to record at.
@@radbrad1935 That sounds about right. Regardless, it was a masterpiece and Sony were fools to drop them.
I’m in no way very knowledgeable about any of their career steps, especially as a fairly new pentaholic (listened to some of their stuff in the early days, but was too young at the time to follow too in depth, only started really listening to them more consistently last summer) so everything I know is from RUclips comments.
Man lovia
❤️
Great reaction! I do have one request, could you turn it up a couple of notches please? I have bad hearing lol 😂
Back when the world seemed more hopeful.... And that's not my nostalgia, that wasn't my best time but somehow the world seemed more... Well just more
Some makeup, a ring light, a laptop and about $600 won them a Grammy for this
Love your reactions!! Try John Lennon's Imagine. Bring some tissues.
That’s good to know. I never assume because fan bases are different hah.
There is a live version of this song. Check it out.
You WILL NOT be disappointed.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
💙❄
I don't know where you are, but they have a Hollywood Bowl gig soon.
About her smile... There is a reason for that...
nice reaction. please revisit the rabbit hole known as pentatonix. pentatonix fans known as pentaholics understand about the copy right issues and we don't mind if you need to use filters or text so you can upload your reactions....we only care about the music and your reaction to their music.
Next upgrade to react to Imagine
I think ...I'm not certain...but I THINK live performances do not have the copyright issues. You may want to check into it.
They aren’t broken up. One member left to peruse other opportunities. They replaced him with Matt.
Please, react to Gabriel Henrique singing "I have nothing" from Whitney Houston!!
i'm not terribly gay, but I wouldn't say no to white hair boy or mitch in this.
the chick is cool too but she'd never say yes
pentatonixs owes you money for showing this, you didnt hate on them so they owe you. not to mention this isnt even even an original idea from them. you are advertising them without pay, so you should be able to show everything
If I could make some money off of my copywrited videos such as this one, that’d be nice haha. The “fair use” law is laughable. I wonder how much money reactors have made them over the years? Has to be in the 100s of thousands.
