The Grassi Guitar does not require a megaphone. It is just a prop to draw attention to who is making the sound. I heard it done live and it was EPIC. Brian May, lead guitarist of Queen posted this to his socials and told his fans to enjoy it. PTX took 5 years to work on the arrangement to make sure they got it right. PTX usually upgrades anything they remake. Because this is such an iconic song it is not an upgrade but it is the best version of this song outside of the original and they did it without instruments. And.....Your Mitch Slap was perfection.
When they have performed this live, Mitch doesn't NEED a megaphone. He is a magical unicorn. The behind the scenes on this revealed issues with couch crashes, and many, many takes. It was cold, and it took all night. You should watch "The Recording of Evergreen" to see the creative process, the layering, the choices made to create such beauty.
The panning was done in the original Queen studio version of this song. They decided to be as true to it all as they possibly could, even in such small details. Loved your reaction, and loved that you notice all the little nuances. Well done, and thank you!
Freddie mercury would be so proud,When Pentatonix released this BRIAN May from Queen posted the words ..ENJOY x Thank you Dave x The panning was in the Original x
If I remember correctly I believe that the original track from queen had the panning from left/right in the beginning part also so I’m thinking it was more of a homage. :)
I do remember the first time I heard this..it was like WTH!😱. I think you would enjoy some live performances..PopSpring concert is a great one..a little longer..but truly amazing! I’m enjoying your journey with you🤗❤️‼️
PTX did a bit of BoRap in their first evolution medley - Evolution of Music - dated 4/15/2013 and folks started requesting a cover. PTX said they would not do it unless they could do BoRap justice. It only took 4 years... 4/7/2014. 😄 For the "Let him Go!" chorale, Kirstie and Kevin (seated left) sang the high parts. Mitch and Avi (seated right) sang the low parts. And Scott seated in the middle sang all of it turning his head to face the folks he was singing with. It took me a VERY long time to realize who was singing what. There is a video of Scott singing I Should Tell Your Mama on Ya that illustrates... I don't know what to call it. LOL And this was about when they started saying Kevin had the highest voice in the group. The couch was an homage to their early videos when they sang all on a couch with the Trio sitting on the back. That couch took them everywhere they wanted to go. Hence the motor in the couch.
I just couldn't wait to see your reaction when Mitch hit that Megaphone!!! PRICELESS!!! You haven't reacted to Hallelujah yet, you need to do that SOON!!!
Glad you enjoyed this incredible rendition. It's always fun to watch someone enjoying it for the first time. FYI -- the "panning," as you called it, is paying homage to the original. Queen did that left ear, right ear panning in their original video.
Yep, I remember listening to the Night at the Opera album back in 1975, when I was 12 years old, and being pleasantly surprised when the audio was separated into my left and right speakers during that one part. Pentatonix recreating that memory gave me the happiest smile, like I was back in my room listening to the record player.
They are UNMATCHED yo 🙌 Noone touches them frfr not jus in acepella but Period ❗️ like I said in another yo reactions I saw them live it was LIVE CHANGING ❤️🔥😭❤️🔥They jus got their star on the Hollywood Walk of Game too✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️
A Pentaholic once stated, “Pentatonix doesn’t do covers, they do upgrades.” I totally agree. Thanks for a great reaction and commentary. Just so you know, Mitch does not need the megaphone, it is just a prop! The behind the scenes video is very interesting too 💕
I have seen the live performance of this song and Mitch can do the guitar solo without the megaphone. He can actually do that with his voice and a microphone. Also, Brian May of Queen has a link to this cover on his social media site. Pretty high praise if you ask me. Hope and joy as always.
Thoroughly enjoyed your Ptx reactions especially the little nuggets of info and insight you include as well. Great content. Listening to their music and to the Ptx reactions is kinda my "guilty pleasure" in the evenings. Now, add that "smooth jazz" voice of yours to the mix and it's a home run. Best reactor by far
Hi- Enjoying your PTX reactions. Somebody else may have already mentioned this, but the panning from left to right in the intro is true to Queen's original .
The panning is something Queen was known for there are throughs to Queen throughout. For instance Brian May was an astrologist so they show night sky. Brian May also shared a link to this on his twitter and simply said ENJOY.
@@Tam_Eiki Sorry my mistake. Is it something to do with the study of stars? I am not well educated mostly self taught from the "reliable " sauce of Google and auto correct. I did not mean to offend. But I do apricate how PTX always pay respect to the artists.
@@TitanSummers No apology necessary, I just thought you'd like to know. Astrophysics is the study of the stars and planets using science/physics while astrology is non-scientific, it uses the stars and planets to link behavior. Your horoscope uses astrology. Still, it's nice to know that Sir Brian May thought so much of Pentatonix's version that he linked to it in his social media. :)
They always put their spin on covers and it never fails they seem to always be better than the original. I never really knew all the words, thus the storyline, of this song until I heard them singing it. Their voices and words are so crisp and clear that I now know all the words. True, I’ve watched this a time or few (dozen) times but still I learned so much about this song from them. Including some of the details about the original and the tributes they included in this video. Like the night sky with the shooting stars, a member of Queen studied astronomy and such. Some are things I’ve read in others comments but I would still be humming along if I hadn’t heard this version. Love your energy you get me dancing right along with you. You express your enjoyment so enthusiastically it is infectious.
Thanks for your great reaction! This was a very hard video for them to make on a very cold night on a moving couch that tipped over easily. You would really appreciate their BTS video "The making of Bohemian Rhapsody".
Thank you! Great reaction. I could tell you were really getting into it. A true reaction! Especially when Mitch sang lead , his "guitar playing", and his high pitches.
Dave, if you go watch the original Queen video you'll see that the panning at the beginning was them replicating what Queen actually did. So if you're going to complain you gots to complain about Queen also LMAO
Think the panning was in the original. Folks today don't remember what a miraculous change came when mono went to stereo. Panning was highlighted as forward thinking and modern special.
Saw this live, summer of 2018. Hubby got us tickets for my birthday and wanted to leave at the end of the concert. I refused. They hadn't sung this. And it was the encore. Yes, I screamed, jumped up and down, and then got really annoying. I looked at hubby and said "I told you so!" To which I got a Yes, dear. Can hardly wait for them to come back to town, which will be awhile with Kirstie on maternity leave.
Yesss! So glad U reacted to this (and enjoyed it) ♥️ I'd recommend their cover of gold - by kiiara, the fact that they can sing naturally what probably took the og artists a lot of mixing/autotune to do is awesome!
Who needs drums when you have Kevin? Who needs bass guitar when you have Avi? Who needs guitar when you have Mitch? Who needs piano when you have Scott and Kirsti?
Fyi this was filmed in an alley at night. If you look closely you can see their breath. Also, the couch was on rails. Hope and joy to you. Pass it on. =^;^=
I've seen lots of people react to this cover but never worked out why they particularly comment on the right to left panning panning (mostly seeming surprised but pleased as if it were some sort of innovation). But Queen did exactly the same panning in the original. Your look at Mitch's use of the megaphone (as a prop) reminded me of the Monty Python poem "Horace" and how he ate his face. (I was going to quote it but don't know the copyright or the RUclips Rules).
Sorry but Mitch does NOT need a megaphone to do his guitar solo. He does not use one on stage and sounds the same. You should hear his imitation of a sharpie marker and other sounds. He's brilliant.
Dave, just to let you know I watch some reaction videos and I have started a number or your reactions only to find you ALWAYS put "They block this video if this text is not here. Sorry guys!" I never watch the reaction after that. I wonder if even with this text all over the video you still sometimes get one of your videos blocked. From what I have heard other reviewers say they still sometimes get a video blocked even with this type of text. On the other hand those reviewers who NEVER put anything over the video they are reviewing & sometimes have the video as 90% of the screen mention they sometimes get a reaction blocked but no more often than those that try all types of stunts. Also those same reviewers same most of the time when they challenge the block it is eventually removed. Thought I would let you know you are missing out on a lot of views with your choice.
Challenging the block could result in a strike on my channel. As a matter of fact, I have one now due to that very instances. Also keep in mind that RUclips’s copyright ID system is flawed, meaning it does not play fair. I still to this day get copyright claims and blocks on reactions I posted a year ago. This is safer. Some will stay and understand, some will not. It’s the nature of a reaction channel. I can’t please everybody. As far as views go. My analytics state that people are staying regardless of the text. If people leave mid reaction, it’s usually because I talk too much 😂 In the grand scheme of things. I would expect you to have seen the video already, and if not, the link to the original is always included in the description. And I always recommend you watch that first before watching my reaction. Thanks for attempting to watch at least and for your comment!

I highly recommend Pentatonix's 'Halelujah'. It has almost 700 MILLION views & is absolutely phenomenal!!!
The Grassi Guitar does not require a megaphone. It is just a prop to draw attention to who is making the sound. I heard it done live and it was EPIC.

Your face during Mitch’s megaphone magic was just priceless…..😁💜

They probably put an effect on the microphone signal in a live concert. And there's nothing wrong with that.
The panning was done in the original Queen studio version of this song. They decided to be as true to it all as they possibly could, even in such small details.
Loved your reaction, and loved that you notice all the little nuances. Well done, and thank you!
Best Mitch face ever
Best reaction to the megaphone I have seen so far.
No need to apologize for covering the video. We've all seen it multiple times and are here to watch your reaction. You don't disappoint. Thanks.

Omg your face!!🤣🤣 during the “guitar part” and then when you realized it was mitch with the megaphone. Live he does it with just his voice!
Thanks again for another amazing reaction!!!! Have a blessed day 💜
This performance made me love BOTH groups (Pentatonix and Queen) even more than I thought possible!
I think you hit it-there are only 5 of them and the sound they produce! Love your reactions.
I’d love to see you check out “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” - they won their second Grammy on that one
If I remember correctly I believe that the original track from queen had the panning from left/right in the beginning part also so I’m thinking it was more of a homage. :)
Yes 😊
Came for the Mitch slap, was not disappointed. LOL it's a different kind of Mitch slap on the guitar solo.
Brian May, Queen’s lead guitarist, put a link to this vide on his social media. He said “This is great! Enjoy!
Every reactor asks about the couch. 😂 Like, "Ok, PTX are aliens but a moving couch is just weird!" 😂

The panning in the original by Queen. Also, the megaphone is just a prop. He does this live in concerts without one!
This vocals is clean

The megaphone is a prop.

The panning is actually them copying the Queen production. Listen to the Queen Video and the pan is exactly the same.
Megaphone, not microphone, on Mitch's guitar solo.
Please react to Popspring 2016- it’s long (3 originals and a medley of Michael Jackson), but WELL WORTH THE TIME. 🔥👏🏻🦄
The megaphone is simply and only a prop.. its not in use. Not used live
The panning is a tip of the hat to the original. Queen did it as well, but not as pronounced.
