      Aye! I know this video is not about Gigi Delana it's just that you mentioned you want to hear her sing " i wanna dance with somebody" here is the link at 8:40min. You dont need to do the reaction video because the video is like 13min. Just watch her sing a dance music (your song in mind for her to sing, by whitney houston ) ruclips.net/video/Lmj95wafEb8/видео.html

    Don’t forget that Mitch is an authentic countertenor! Those high tessitura lines are a piece of cake for him! Kirstie (rhymes with Thirs-ty, by the way), is fire on this! The Aeolian cadence at the end is what got this old composer-pianist off guard... sooo beautiful!

  • @makchris7746
    @makchris7746 2 года назад +61

    They did layered themselves that’s why it’s so much fuller in the arrangement. Most of their pieces don’t layer much, but tbh I’m happy they do in this one. The rich and full sound makes this song one of my favourite one from them

    • @pjschmid2251
      @pjschmid2251 2 года назад +6

      Bit of clarification; in this recording they are definitely layered in that they are each singing different parts for the backing track versus the foreground track. But many of their other recordings they still layer but not in the same way. Backing tracks will have them singing multiple takes of the same part and bringing them together to add fullness to that backing track. People that swear that they don’t do this because it’s somehow against the rules of a cappella or whatever the heck they think although they don’t need to think this way. They are an a cappella group but they’re also a pop group and that’s how pop music is recorded.

    • @makchris7746
      @makchris7746 2 года назад +3

      @@pjschmid2251 yeah I’ve seen some stuffs from their audio engineer Ed Boyer who claimed they’ll do at least 2 good takes for each BGV in order to pan them left & right for a stereo image. And the one thing I like about this song specifically is how they layered a different version of themselves not just in the stereo image, but also in the arrangement. As a result there’re probably 7 or 8 “voices” in this arrangement, which differ from what they used to do most of the time with just 5 “voices”.

    • @chuckt8457
      @chuckt8457 2 года назад

      They layer and mix a lot more than you think.

  • @jcs1025
    @jcs1025 2 года назад +25

    Their arrangements are just masterful,and they swung for the fences with this one. If you want a simple, pure recent a cappella arrangement, listen to a live version of them singing ‘I Just Called to Say I love You’ or ‘My Heart With You’.

    • @Badger77722
      @Badger77722 2 года назад +1

      Both great suggestions! My Heart With You from the Christmas Under the Stars show is just gorgeous, and really gives you a close-up view of them just listening to each other as they sing.

    I disagree that Mitch sings in Falsetto - He is a superb Countertenor. He has way more control than one singing falsetto.

    Yes, they have more layering than usual, but In Making of Evergreen, they mention they didn't have time to hire a choir for the background so they did the choir themselves and joked that they'd never have to hire a choir again! :) This gives me such shivers EVERY single time. So gorgeous.

    I love that they did “A world where pain and sorrow will be ended and every heart that’s broken will be mended…..” in English. I’ve seen a couple of other versions in English but usually it’s in Italian. That’s beautiful but those particular words are important to me and I love that I can understand them in English……. Very nice reaction…

    Well done. I’m a 65 year old trumpet player. I get artistry. But some artists , like PTX and Loren Allred, affect me emotionally. No matter how many times I’ve been Mitch Slapped, I can’t not cry when hearing this. My new measurement for grading vocal performances is on a scale of: 1 to PENTATONIX.

    I'm glad you decided to start reacting Pentatonix, I absolutely love them and you have interesting insight on their performance, can't wait to listen more from you :)
    If you like Jazz/blues at all you should react to a young singer named Angelina Jordan. Not that it's the only style she sings but she always gives a bit of that vibe in her arrangments and her vocals.
    She's absolutely amazing and arranges most of her covers herself to make them very special.
    She is young but has won Norway Got talent, Got a Golden buzzer on AGT the champions, sang at Quincy Jones anniversary concert and much more.
    If you are at all intrigued I would recommend starting with her cover of "I put a spell on you" that she arranged from the original by Screaming Jay Hawkins, it's a live in studio recording with a band and is know as one of her masterpieces. The video has around 9 million views.

    I really hope you give her a listen she is one of a kind.
