Thanks for all the work put into this series Patrick! I would love to see a Kubernetes video with a few of these systems versus a typical 1U/2U. That's been a question for me in building out a homelab.

Please, a chart with all TMMPC's ranked by your criteria would be awesome instead of going through 2 years of videos and trying to figure something out. Obviously it would be dynamic as new products are introduced or old products are no longer available, yada yada yada.

Can't even buy the M90q from Lenovo's site right now (not listed) and the rest of the Tinys are showing a 4+ month shipping delay due to COVID. Ouch.
6:17 I'm patiently waiting for an M95X that hopefully takes after the M920X, where we'll get an AMD 5750GE, 2 NVMe slots, and maybe an RTX 3050TI or RX6500M
Edit, i know they have the board for this, heck my m75Q gen2 has traces on the motherboard for a PCIe x16 slot, it just needs the pins and the slot
I'd recommend soldering on a PCIe x16 socket on one to see how it goes, but I recently botched a similar process on an ASRock 4x4Box-4800 trying to replace the front USB-A port with a 2x stacked USB-A port that the PCB had the footprint for (and in fact uses for the caseless SKU that is otherwise identical). Trying to desolder small holes on a many-layer PCB is surprisingly difficult without the fancier electric desolder guns (could be difficult with those too, I wouldn't know).
I'd settle for just a second NVMe slot on one of these tiny Ryzen boxes, I want eGPU shenanigans without giving up the NVMe boot drive ;__;
3:00 the USB-C port on the back of my M75Q gen2 with ryzen 7 4750GE ended up being slower than the front USB-C port, with the same external NVMe drive getting ~550MB/s where as on the front port it got into the upper 900MB/s (sabrent NVMe to gen4USBC enclosure with samsung 970EVO+)
Edit, i also wish that all of the realr USB were 3.0 or better, because if you're using the tiny-in-one monitor that will used that for an internal hub for camera, touch, and the relocated front port. If you have hardware that doesnt like to share a usb switching hub, then you've only got one rear USB-A port for high speed devices, though its more likely that a device new enough to support those speeds wont mind using a hub, and a device that doesn't like to share wont likely need more than USB1.1 speeds
Interesting, the site page and user manual for the M75q gen2 claim the front USB-C port is USB3.2 Gen 1 (5Gbit) and only the front USB-A port is USB3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbit). If the front C port is pulling 900MB/s the documentation must be wrong, perhaps they mixed it up with the front A port? It would make sense for the 10Gbit USB ports to be C after all.
It's really a shame that they don't just have more superspeed ports on these computers even if they're sharing bandwidth on a switch to do it. More so on the units that share 10Gbit USB-C with display outputs, like the ASUS PN50 and ASRock 4x4Box-4800U - as convenient as it is to have one-cable portable monitors, it's a bit lame to tie up the fastest USB ports on the machines doing something unrelated.

Going to be really interesting to see how Alder Lake changes this market over the next couple of years. I'm becoming increasingly convinced that Intel will switch to using 28-watt or 45-watt class chips from the Alder Lake Mobile range instead of continuing to make these knee-capped desktop chips. And, will the power consumption floor fall below 10 watts thanks to the efficiency CPU cores?
When did you order yours? How long did it take to arrive?
Does anybody know if any of those small pcs can be set to turn them on with power on? For example : i shutdown device properly, i disconnect power plug, i connect it again and device starts. I had such feature on some motherboard. I would love to use those cheap wifi power sockets with this feature. (no, i don want to use wake on lan insted)
What is the difference between this M80q and the M70q?
Well I got the m70q gen 2 with 512 drive and 16 gigs of ram with all the things that come in the box for 40 bucks. So I am happy. Got it from a dude that sells Amazon returns.

@@donzhu4996 he use to set up in front of this store where I live. Now he rents this space where I had my car worked on years ago. Last time I dropped by he had a DeWalt pressure washer. Never has the same thing twice.
So I just bought one of these on E-Bay for under $200 with 19 months left on the warranty. So I think it's worth it.
Video suggestion... commentary on availability of these units.
I know it changes over time, and Covid hammered supply chains, but some of these show a 3 to 4 month wait time at the moment. It's disheartening when you end a configuration session and see a September ETA (currently June 2021).
It's almost enough to make me consider an M1 Mac Mini (not quite).
Hey Patrick, are there any tiny mini micro machine that can install a HHHL expansion card or have 2 NIC in them?
Maybe look at the M90q Tiny with the i350 option. Cooling is a challenge as well. Also, depending on what you need the second NIC for, a USB NIC is sometimes useful.
@@ServeTheHomeVideo I’m into making it a pfsense box, something out of the way and doesn’t consume too much power. Since at the office we often held CSGO pug matches with over 20 machines hammering an external servers at 128 ticks, sometimes the poor ISP provided box can’t keep up.
