Arm chair carpenters living all over the country, need to trust your experience in these matters. You are a kind man to take your time to explain to them what is required in your area.
I am at Beryl’s landfall off the Gulf and seeing your drone views of the flooding in your area is amazing in considering that this is all from the same storm process! Better than the network news coverage! Makes me wonder how many millions of people are still dealing with Beryl’s aftermath like my entire town is. On a lighter note - I am so glad you are putting those shelves in between sink and shower! I was cringing at any wasted space in your tiny house build.
I think your plan for the electrical box will work out very nicely, Ken. You definitely don't want any problems with condensation! The footage of the flooding is incredible. I pray that the people, their homes, and the businesses are able to recover quickly. This must be so devastating for so many people. I can't even imagine. This is the last thing people need when times are so tough.
Heavy rain used to shut down our sewage treatment plant in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The effluent/sewage would discharge directly into the Grand River. Fortunately, that problem was fixed about 30 years ago. We used to kid about fishing for brown trout on those occasions.
So sad to see the flooding of your beautiful town. Vermonters are resilient folk. Very heartwarming to here about your canoeing and the rafts you and your brothers would play with. We did the same stuff on the Mill River where we lived. Don't fall in the drink in the Spring! Hah, good times, innocent times, adventures to be had, stories to tell. Thank you so much Ken. Say hi to Lyle for us.
Sorry to see such flooding in your town Ken and thank you for a bird's eye view of small town America! Hope water recedes quickly and town can start the long cleanup process. We escaped the remnants of hurricane here in western PA. TY for sharing your life up there in Vermont with your viewers! 🙂
The tiny house is getting really nice. I always enjoy your drone footage which is just beautiful. I recall when you were working on a house at the lake; you made some drone footage going up through the low cloud cover, overseeing hills, and it was just breathtakingly beautiful. Thanks for sharing!
I had a 34 foot motorhome that had air admittance valves on the vents. Had it for 10 years put 74,000 mile on it and never had one problem. They work great.
❤ Good Day Ken 🌅🌄🌻 Wow 😯 Alot of Flooding you have there in Vermont 😢 Good thing your in the Hills there!👍🙌🙏👌 Love your Tiny 🏡 Great Tiny Space that will help save alot of people from being Homeless and some Hope ! God Bless you 🙏🙌🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👌🤞✌️👍🤩🌻🌅🌠🌞🌛⭐🎆🎇
Hi Ken, I just have to chime in here. In my younger years (40 years ago) I was a home builder. All drains were 1 1/2" even showers but they were not as common as today. We recently (5 years ago) had a new home built. Shower is 2" and all other drains are still 1 1/2" including the bath tub with a shower. If 1 1/2" is good for tub why isn't it for a shower. At the rate of water flow in today's fixtures you could never flood that shower. If some plumber could explain that to me that would be nice. My biggest beef with today's fixtures is the flow rate. They are just too slow. I don't like standing at the kitchen sink waiting for the hot water to arrive. There is just too much overkill today. Yeah I know "but what if". Thanks for explaining why you are doing what you are doing. Also when I talked to the builder of our house we reminisced about building (he and I were builders in the area and he still is) he commented that building new homes is not fun any more as there are just too many dumb regulations. A friend of mine keeps reminding me that the regulations are there to protect you from yourself. I say more like the town protecting themselves from law suits (but you didn't tell me about that). I guess I'm rambling now. I feel bad for the people that got the bad end of the flooding, sure hope they recover soon. We had tornado threats in my area (first for me) but we never got any wind at all but got about 2" of rain (not unusual).
You guys really got a lot of water from the storm. WOW. I remember so many of those places you've shown on here from past videos ... the railroad tracks (from your HO channel), the park, the weigh station, and the other places you've shown before. I love the drone stuff. So cool to see everything from that vantage point. My heart goes out to all of the people that suffered flooding in their homes and property. God bless
Yes .... Jun 1972 was Hurricane Agnes .... it was horrific! I was in Junior High at the time. I was working a summer job through the Youth Conservation Corp, with the State Forest Fire Warden, making firebreaks and water diversion ditches on forestry roads etc. Our crew got diverted to help folks in the lower areas with their flooding issues. Mostly pulling belongings out of their basements etc. Soooo sorry to see what Beryl has done to your town. We were very lucky here in my immediate area in central PA. Hoping your creek/river recedes soon, so folks can start with the tasks of cleaning up🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 Take care Ken, good to see the Chalet coming along👍🏻✌🏻🐕🐔🐓🚽🚿👣
Great drone shots. It allows us to see how nature changes things right before our eyes.... except in fast motion instead of a few hundred years. Man will try to "clean up" afterward, but most of the time mother nature will win in the long run.
Ken, I just wanted to say that I've been watching you build things in all sorts of shapes and forms for awhile now, and you're always generous with your knowledge and patient with your explanations to folks who don't exactly know the direction in which you're going, in certain situations. For example: the circuit breaker box, plumbing vent and the pipe sizes. I'd been wondering some of these same things, but I know that at some point during the build, you'll explain where you're headed when putting all of these things together, and why you're doing it. I've yet to see you NOT explain what you're doing. So, I just wanted to say thanks for taking us along in your building adventures and sharing your years of wisdom and knowledge. It helps us all, and it's interesting and informative.
Interesting Ken, I never thought about flow rate in and out of a sink but it makes sense that what comes in should be much less than the rate out. Thanks for the explanation.
Wonderful work on the Tiny House. It has to be special for the owners to see it being built with care. Thank you for the excellent tour of the flood area. I pray this water will drain soon. The damage has to be enormous.
Good morning 🙏 KEN Thank GOD you're WELL. This storm has hit so many states. GOD isn't pleased with the sin of the world. Your drone views are fantastic. GOD BLESS YOU. I PRAISE GOD FOR KEEPING US SAFE. I PRAYED FOR YOU. 🙏 SE MICHIGAN 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏
Oh my gosh, so sorry for your town. Beryl went slightly north of us. We only got about an inch of rain. We did get some edges of the wind. Super gusty wind all day. Tossed my sunflowers and gladiolus all around. Lost a few. Which is nothing considering people lost their houses, businesses, some even lost their lives, sad blows. Mother Nature giving us a spank. Prayers.
Thanks for the aerial footage! Sure is sad to see, especially since I lost half of my possessions in a flood, then lost everything, including the house in a second flood. I know exactly how those people feel, and it takes years to fully recover. I drove from the middle of Missouri to Indianapolis on Tuesday to visit a friend, and was under Beryl the entire time. For 80% of the trip, I couldn't see out the windshield, the side windows, nor the back window of my truck. It was like have 4 or 5 fire hoses spraying full bore, straight down on the truck. Never have I seen that much rain, for that long, in 50 years of driving.
Wow! Happy to get the plumbing tips and see the progress but Oh My Goodness.! Just heard about the flooding this morning. Not so much for us here in southern New Hampshire. Anyway. Thanks so much for sharing all that's going on. I look forward to your posts. Thank you.
Even though I always enjoy watching the production on the tiny house, it was a nice break to see the coverage you put on the flooding from the drone. It is a unique perspective and blessings are being sent to all of those who have been flooded to put out of work and out of their homes due to this. Praying that everyone stay safe and that you do not have a lot more rain before some of the flooding can be under control. Have a great day and looking forward to more videos on the tiny house. Southern Arizona got a little rain yesterday, but mainly it is hot.
Thanks for the shots of the flood waters Ken, It appeared to be receding a little bit. I'm guessing Kinney's was flooded earlier on... The title of today's video was appropiate, lol! The Kenshed build is looking good, all that was missing was Kaila the Building Inspecter...❤ Bill...
Wow, over 4 inches of rain! Thanks for telling us why mounting the circuit breaker box in the wall would be a bad idea. I love how you did the connections for the sink through the shower wall! Yes, shower to 2 inch pipe and sink of 1 1/2 inch pipe for the drains! Thanks for talking about the drain flow rates compared to the input or supply flow rates for the sink and shower. Thanks for showing the drain vent! I was wondering about that! Cool, 35 years ago you learned about them! So you're using an AAV (Air Admission Valve) designated drainage vent right under the sink for the drains. I hadn't heard of those. Good to know! So great you don't have to use a hole through the roof! Good idea to fix the Pex supply nipples through the wall so they can't go back inside the wall! I like your idea of a shelf unit on the sink side of the shower wall. I;d like to see the flooding. It's sad but it's historic! Wow, that's some flooding! Wow, even the railroad tracks are flooded! At least the covered bridge is still above water! This is sad for so many people! I'm glad your friend moved out of that house. Thanks for the video of the "Seasonal Housing" and the Lyndonville flood! I'm glad that your homestead did okay. Just a bit of water over the top of you driveway culvert. On Friday the county told me they would help me with my rent and deposit for my apartment! I made a good dent packing today for my move. Most of my kitchen stuff is packed. I think I'll just move in a blow-up air mattress for my bed for now since it's tropical weather until Wednesday! I hope your weekend has been good! Thanks for all the prayers! You did good! God bless you both!
Ken i hope everyone'made it safely thru the flooding. We are in the middle of a heat wave here in Scottsboro Alabama . The tiny house is looking great . Keep up the great hobby . I wish I could retire but I'm only 57 . Still working at the same job for 20 years . Making and shipping Vehicle parts .
Liked the engineering aspects on the plumbing flows and the air admittance valves vs roof (vent stack) perforations. The main stack is to vent the septic/central sewer system so the gas doesn't enter the dwelling/building. Might want to explain the purpose of the pee trap when you install the sink plumbing. Hopefully this flooding sheet flows fast enough to reduce the inconvenient damages there, but not overwhelm those lying in the southern direction.
Math is an amazing tool, your drain adds up to it’s fine. On the town view add the long version to “Ken’s Scenic Journeys” you have done the work! Sad to see the destruction
I had an idea. You could build a box with shelving in it. This box could slide in the wall between the studs. It could be held in by 4 screws. This would be removable to access the plumbing. It's shelves could protrude from the wall an inch or so. Pretty much a medicine cabinet without the mirror.
Good morning Ken,,inch and half for the sink is fine and quick vents are also fine,2inch is needed for the drain for shower, so everything is code compliment lol ..I think you should add insulation on the rough in plumbing is going it will be a little nosey it might dead the nosey showere if someone is in there or if they pass gas lol .off too for I go 🐊🌴😎
Sorry to see all the damage caused by the flooding in the Lyndonville area. We suffered no flooding in western Franklin County. The Missisquoi river never reached its banks but it was a fast moving current. Glad to see that you and your family were spared the flooding. If I’m not mistaken this flooding occurred this time last year.
Great video as always! Ken, this is just a suggestion. Wonder if you might take on a smaller project and build some raised beds for the garden. Once built you can use sticks and small logs to fill the very bottom. Then you can take the so that's in the kiddie pools. They would look very nice! especially considering you're looking at knee surgery. Again just a suggestion. Love everything you do
It is good for the soil to get a bit of flooding occasionally. Brings some good nutrients to give the soil a boost. It is a shame it has to flood through buildings though. Going to be a long cleanup.
Sorry about the flooding we have that a lot around here Lost my home and all my rental property except one from Katrina, I live far away from the gulf now. FYI - down where I live a rule of thumb if you do not know how high to build a house off the ground was not to have the bottom of the house no lower than the top of the railroad track - how far can your drone travel with the controls? - It seems to have some travel distance
We still have not gotten our power back on. The electric company says power will be restored by next Monday. It is a bit hotter here than where you are and not having AC is different.
Effluent overflow is usually the worst thing about flooding. That's not nice clean rain water in the flooded areas. It's all mixed with sewage. You would think a car dealership would know to get all their cars to higher ground when a hurricane heads your way. Those flooded cars are a total loss.
Does that river flood very often. i wish we would have gotten some rain out of the hurricane. We had less than 1/4" of rain we need it here in Alabama we are in a drought.
Ken is the Bob Ross of building!
Hahahaha thanks so much
My sister and her family reside in Kirby. You showed me more about the flooding than I ever would have seen on the news....thank you ken
Nice. Thanks for watching

Decreased water flow in sinks and showers doesn’t make sense to me either. You have to a shower that lasts twice as long to achieve the same result

“If I was going to turn it on full bore … … 😂 🤣 😂 🤣 😂 🤣
Ken you cracked me up❕❕
Haha thanks for watching

Incredible drone footage and narration. I took photos from the flooding in 2016 when I was a student at Lyndon State. (yes, an older student)
Thanks

Too bad about the flooding. The tiny house is looking great. Thanks Ken!
Thanks 👍
Thanks for the update on the flooding, so sad for many people. Hope it clears soon and people can begin to repair and get back to a more normal life.
Thanks roads are open again
Wow!! That is some devastating flooding for those people in that area. My prayers go out to them for their recovery from this flooding.
Yes thanks
Hi Ken . Nice boxing in around theshowerside to sink.
Sad about the flood causing so much damage. Take care
Thanks I appreciate it
Thanks for sharing !!!!! 😊🙏👍❤️
You’re welcome
Thank you for adding the flooding.
You bet
Interesting Ken, I never thought about flow rate in and out of a sink but it makes sense that what comes in should be much less than the rate out. Thanks for the explanation.

Glad you enjoyed it
Prayers have been going up for everyone in Beryl’s path. Drainage systems just aren’t made for rainfall rates like that.
Thanks true
It’s amazing to see Mother Nature that we don’t get to see on the news praying 🙏 for everyone and the tiny house is looking great Thanks for the video
Thanks
Good morning 🙏 KEN Thank GOD you're WELL. This storm has hit so many states.

Good morning! Thanks
Lumnah said he received about 6-1/2 inches of rain overnight. You probably received the same. Wow! Drone shots are the best. Great voice over. 👍
Thanks
Gooooood morning, Ken! That flooding is awful, I'm glad you and your family is safe.
Good morning
Beryl's remnants hit Nova Scotia yesterday; one dead.
Wow
Thanks for the drone view of the flooding. I feel sorry for their disaster. Sending prayers 🙏.
Thanks for the research on the plumbing, too.
You’re welcome

He was. Thanks

Thanks yes, the water has gone down a lot
Wow, over 4 inches of rain! Thanks for telling us why mounting the circuit breaker box in the wall would be a bad idea. I love how you did the connections for the sink through the shower wall! WoW glad you’re able to find a place to stay
Wow stay cool
Liked the engineering aspects on the plumbing flows and the air admittance valves vs roof (vent stack) perforations. The main stack is to vent the septic/central sewer system so the gas doesn't enter the dwelling/building. Might want to explain the purpose of the pee trap when you install the sink plumbing. Hopefully this flooding sheet flows fast enough to reduce the inconvenient damages there, but not overwhelm those lying in the southern direction.
Thanks I will
Sad to see the flooding. Such a nice town. I’m so sorry. Prayers and thoughts. Stay Vermont Strong
Thanks the water is receding
Guh`Morning K.K.
.
Good morning!
Perhaps on you next build the box could be in the interior wall between the toilet and main room.
Thanks good idea
Math is an amazing tool, your drain adds up to it’s fine. On the town view add the long version to “Ken’s Scenic Journeys” you have done the work! Sad to see the destruction
Thanks Clarence
I like your videos. Always pick up some helpful hints with your explanations of your thought process of why you do what you do.
Thanks
that flooding looks very similar to what happened here in Abbotsford, BC, in November 2021. Wishing your town a speedy recovery.
Bummer thanks
I had an idea. You could build a box with shelving in it. This box could slide in the wall between the studs. It could be held in by 4 screws. This would be removable to access the plumbing. It's shelves could protrude from the wall an inch or so. Pretty much a medicine cabinet without the mirror.
Cool thanks
Reminds me of a couple years ago when Keene flooded. Glad you are safe.
I was actually in Keene yesterday and headed back there today
Praying for recovery in your community, Ken.
Thanks
Good morning Ken,,inch and half for the sink is fine and quick vents are also fine,2inch is needed for the drain for shower, so everything is code compliment lol ..I think you should add insulation on the rough in plumbing is going it will be a little nosey it might dead the nosey showere if someone is in there or if they pass gas lol .off too for I go 🐊🌴😎
Good morning thanks have a great day
Sorry to see all the damage caused by the flooding in the Lyndonville area. We suffered no flooding in western Franklin County. The Missisquoi river never reached its banks but it was a fast moving current. Glad to see that you and your family were spared the flooding. If I’m not mistaken this flooding occurred this time last year.
Yes exactly a year ago
ty sir praying
Thanks
Great video as always! Ken, this is just a suggestion. Wonder if you might take on a smaller project and build some raised beds for the garden. Once built you can use sticks and small logs to fill the very bottom. Then you can take the so that's in the kiddie pools. They would look very nice! especially considering you're looking at knee surgery. Again just a suggestion. Love everything you do
Thanks, maybe next spring
Wow, that’s a lot of water. God bless.
Yes definitely thanks
Sending positive thoughts to everyone affected by natures extremes at the moment, may some kind of normalcy return to you all soon!*! ❤
Thanks
That drone video of the flooding is really something.. Hope the town is able to recover soon.
Thanks
Glad to hear that you are using a vent
Thanks
It is good for the soil to get a bit of flooding occasionally. Brings some good nutrients to give the soil a boost. It is a shame it has to flood through buildings though. Going to be a long cleanup.
Yes I agree thanks
Great job
Thanks
I saw your flood video yesterday
Looks like you are lucky you live on a hill.
Thanks yes
Ken's Karavans
We build leisure vehicles
Haha I like it

Thanks
Good morning!
Good morning
We didn't get any rain from the remnants of the hurricane. Dry as a bone in Virginia.
Wow that’s good
We still have not gotten our power back on. The electric company says power will be restored by next Monday. It is a bit hotter here than where you are and not having AC is different.

Good day to all.
Good morning
Effluent overflow is usually the worst thing about flooding. That's not nice clean rain water in the flooded areas. It's all mixed with sewage. You would think a car dealership would know to get all their cars to higher ground when a hurricane heads your way. Those flooded cars are a total loss.
WoW
What a mess , bad deal for many people.
Yes. Most of the roads are open again
Mon cher Kens depuis que tu à pris ta retraite tu à pris du ventre il est temps de te remettre au vélo bonjour de la France je suis toute tes vidéos

My thoughts to all those affected by Hurricane Beryl and its aftermath.
Yes. Thanks
GM Ken, just a question. How are you going to do the Hot water? Are you going to do a on demand water heater?
Yes on demand outside
Does that river flood very often. i wish we would have gotten some rain out of the hurricane. We had less than 1/4" of rain we need it here in Alabama we are in a drought.
It unfortunately floods periodically
🙋♀️
