  • Well, once again out Maytag Bravos MCT Washer has a stripped out hub. Once again I struggled with removing and separating the rusty stuck agitator.
I literally fought with it about 2.5 hour's until I figured out a way that works to separate the parts without damaging the agitator. I wish I tried this way before.

I'm trying to pull mine right now. I don't have the inflatable bag but I've got the next best thing. A 12ga shot gun. About to blast holes in this mf'er. I'm hot as hell right now. Thanks maytag. I find comfort in the fact that others much more patient than myself have nevagated around this issue. I put a rope 2x4 up top and a ton and half hoist across it and got nothing. Great design, 10 out of 10.

Yup real SOB to take off. Each time this has happened, I've had to try different methods, because the method I used prior didn't work again. They sell a metal one now. I bought a kit for it I saw on RUclips.

Good video. Couple of quest: What size is the punch? What type of hook is this? Thanks!

The hook is actually an automotive hose remover, like for radiator hose etc. The punch came in a set from Home Depot. I took the agitator bolt and took it with me to compare it to.

I bought the hook from Auto Zone. Auto Zone might even have the punch too.

They just stuck worse and worse each time. They are affordable online appliance stores. I had to order one for when I do end up breaking it.

Terrible video. Using two pics can work at 3 and 9 o'clock in the outer holes of the washplate can sometimes work by jerking them up in an alternating fashion. How are you going to get that airbag thing under the plate? and If you could it wouldn't do anything anyway. Tapping and Blaster can help sometimes, let it sit overnight. I can usually get these plates off using the above methods but probably one in ten I have to use a hole saw and cut the center out to get the super stubborn ones off.

Thanks for your feedback. I pulled the agitator up with the hook. Slid the deflated air bag under the agitator, air it up and hooked opposite side while tapping the center hole with a punch. Popped the agitator off in seconds versus fighting it for the previous hour.

My man! Used two small L shaped allen keys and hooked em under and after a little shaking BOOM, thank you for your comment
