Removing Whirlpool/Maytag Washplate Easy|Washer Not Agitating|Making Noise

If you notice your washer in not agitating or making a strange noise, then you may need to replace the washplate. Sometimes you get lucky and the washplate is loose and it will pop right off but the majority of the time, you’ll end up having to take some extra steps to get it off without breaking it and adding more stress.
It is critical to let the cleaner sit for as long as possible in order to dissolve the rust and loosen the washplate from the shaft. There is a metal spline inside of the washplate that sits in the grooves of the shaft and if the washplate breaks, you’ll have to do more physical work to remove it so slow and steady wins the race.

Thank you so much for this! I have WTW2187 2-in-1 and fought with it for the past 2 days trying to get the wash plate off. I tried everything, but never thought of BKF. Luckily, I had some on hand. Hours of struggling and tearing up my hands using wire to try to pull it off, came down to about 20 minutes thanks to you! I thought it was going to need something major, but it just had a rubber band and a bunch of lint wrapped around it. Not taking the agitator out anymore!
