      Awesome news. I actually had a video dealing with making the screws longer . The loctite , I’m not totally sure about it. Maybe it will help, but I noticed after about two of use, it was the plastic that was worn. The loctite might make it difficult to tighten up in the future

    i thought this was such a logic repair so i ordered a set of collars as soon as i saw your video only to find out when i opened up my machine that top caps on for the springs in my washer are different, there's no lip to on the caps for the collars to clamp down on so now i guess i'm going to have to figure some other way to dampen the rods, maybe i'll try the safety pin hack temporally.....

    • @appliancerepairshorts
      @appliancerepairshorts 2 дня назад

      I actually have a video on those. I was using the collars under the cap. Slip a piece of rubber on the rod. Now tighten the collar on the rubber. Lower the cap. You will have a slight gap, but it won’t hurt anything

    • @abruptlyblunt
      @abruptlyblunt 2 дня назад

      @@appliancerepairshorts i thought about that the p;roblem is under the cap it won't keep the cap from going up and above tghe cap once it goes up it won't be pulled back down because it's not attached to the cap, i'm thinking about pounding the end of the rods round again so i can slide the caps and spring off them heating the plastic so i can compress it to make the hole small again then put it all back together flattening out the end again, just wished i could think of something quicker and easier for a temporary solution, thanks for the suggestion though....

    • @appliancerepairshorts
      @appliancerepairshorts 4 дня назад

      Yes that is a bad transmission. Nothing will fix that problem until you replace the transmission. The seal got damaged and water entered the bearings. The noise is basically the grease removed. Yep great video. I just repaired a Simpson eziset. I used a friction/dampner grease on the wire shaft and other bits and it seems to working well so far. ( got this idea from a comments section on a repair video somewhere.) It's the same stuff they use in video game controls. Amazing sticky stuff . It was from NYE lubricants Inc , distributed by VKB- SIM Australia pty ltd. ( yes I'm in OZ ) . It was a synthetic hydrocarbon grease called Nyogel 767A. I have nothing to do with company. and there are probably other suppliers in the U.S. and other places. It came as a small jar in the mail with 5 grams in it. Enough for 4 suspension rods and cost $20-$30 with mail cost. Thanks hope this adds to all the great knowledge.

    THE TRUTH: Everyone is focused on making the capsule grip the rod tighter to reduce the shaking, This can help, but it is not the solution. The reason these rods work to stop the shaking is that there is a special grease that has been applied to the rod where the capsule moves. This grease has the viscosity of honey. It is thick and it is sticky. The capsule must move through this grease, and when it does, its motion is considerably slowed. This is what prevents the shaking from happening and dampens the oscillations that would otherwise occur. The bottom line is that if the capsule is in good shape, or can be repaired even with a solid substance or solid replacement, applying the grease to the rod in the area it moves through is the long term fix. If replacing the rods, also apply this grease if it is not already present on the new rods. This grease is synthetic damping grease lubricant. It isn't cheap, but you don't need much for 4 rods. I found it sold on Amazon for about $10. You get 2 10 gram tubes. If you are doing lots of repairs, you can buy a 50 gram tube for $26.

    • @appliancerepairshorts
      @appliancerepairshorts 10 дней назад

      You are partially correct, I know that super tacky grease. It does work, but it doesn’t work on its own. The damper on the inside is a foam type material, that has some sort of grease, but Samsung has the tacky grease. I’m using something in combination on the Samsung suspension rods. I have not updated it yet. Thanks for your input

    • @rus1ifly
      @rus1ifly 9 дней назад

      @@appliancerepairshorts You are also partially correct. The foam piece inside the capsule must slide on the rod correctly as the capsule moves through the dampening grease. If that foam has deteriorated too much the dampening effect of the sticky grease can't work by itself. With worn suspension rods, the combination of your fix plus added grease will work for all but really worn out suspension rods. I have a Samsung washer and can confirm they use very sticky grease. The "shotgun" repair method may be the best and most practical way to go, I.e. replace the suspension rods with aftermarket rods from Amazon costing $40 or so for 4 of them, and coat them with the sticky grease when installing them?

    Just moved in this appartment and it has a unit that sounds like this....

    most washers rinse with cold, so if you selected the hot with the cold line connected and you actually get cold it is going to try to use cold for the rinse and nothing will happen....

      It works fine, you are using hot valve and getting cold. So you really don’t need to rinse. Have done this for a while. Customers have not mentioned anything. Plus it is temporary to get you by. If the washer goes into rise, it is wanting cold, but it already getting cold, so it is not necessary

      Agree, on rinse cycle it opens the cold water valve and if nothing comes out, why would it open the hot water valve.

    Thanks for this. Trying to diagnose/research for my parents washer. (WTW5000DW2) Has a lot of trouble balancing properly, violently shakes with need to stop cycle and reset. Also, during spin *down* as the tub is slowing it makes very loud and abrupt clacking noises. Splutch?

    • @appliancerepairshorts
      @appliancerepairshorts 12 дней назад

      I would replace the splutch and probably the shifter as it may not be engaging.

    Those user interface boards as well as the main board were a big issue and probably still are a big issue with GE dishwashers.

      Yes, I agree. Sometimes the little red fuse will go out and stops all power to it.
