The song you are thinking of that is “change, change, change” is “Turn, Turn, Turn” by The Byrds 👍🏻. Also a classic
The Byrds was my first thought as well
yup. I posted before looking down, whoops.
I think the song is The Chain by Fleetwood Mac. That has the driving guitar.
I was thinking "Change" John Waite. Both simmilar. I préfet thé Birds 😅
I'm thinking Simon and Garfunkel's hazy shade of winter. Time, Time, Time.
By the way, this song actually portrays the Grim Reaper more accurately than most post 1800 depictions. Movies and TV have used the Reaper to instill horror in modern, but in the original lores that inspire the story of the Grim Reaper he is meant to be perceived as a good. Yes, his presence signifies that you are dead or dying, but originally, he was the first one there because he was meant to comfort you, and send you on your way with a wisdom that puts you at peace with your mortality.
Matthew Burridge ...
Thank You for *getting it*!!!!
"What can the harvest hope for, if not for the care of the reaper man?"
― Terry Pratchett, Reaper Man
The grim reaper is a frequently used character in Terry Pratchetts Discworld novels, and is a very benevolent character in the way Matthew Burridge describes. When Sir Terry was knighted, he had a family coat of arms made with the motto: “noli timere messorem” which is Latin and translates to "Dont fear the reaper". GNU Terry Pratchett.
Matthew Burridge
Same here almost..a suicide pact...and life after death...That's what the lyrics say to me. Black sabbath explored similar themes in 'A National Acrobat'.
I’ve suffered from panic attacks about dying for several years this song has always brought comfort to it’s like a weight lifted off my shoulders knowing what you face is not so scary
Death is inevitable, life is involuntary, why do you have issues with Death?
The song is actually him trying to get his girl to commit suicide ...Romeo and Juliet together at last
Everyone is going one way my friend. Just enjoy the ride.
Melty Cube - errr no it isn’t the composer (lead singer Donald Roeser) says the song is about “eternal love, rather than suicide”! And the man has a congenital heart complaint and thought he might die at a young age, hence “don’t fear the reaper” but rather live your life cos everyday could be your last!
@@meltycube3834 no not at all

Gothic? This isnt goth at all
@@arizonainacan8594 it isnt gothic on purpose, but I can tell you as a goth this song is very popular in the community and has many similar subject themes

This has always been the perfect driving down the highway at midnight type song to me.
Nadia Josephina yaaas girl!!
YES INDEED!
I love playing this LOUD on the highway.
Yup fits
LOVE driving to this song full blast with the windows down....
Blue Oyster Cult - Roeser says, “I was thinking about my own mortality. I wrote the guitar riff, the first two lines of lyric sprung into my head, then the rest of it came as I formed a story about a love affair that transcends death. I was thinking about my wife, and that maybe we’d get together after I was gone.” Roeser said in 1998, “The second verse is the one that’s caused all the trouble all these years. ‘Valentine’ is a metaphor for mortal love. ‘Romeo and Juliet’ I used as an example of a couple who had faith to take their love elsewhere when they weren’t permitted the freedom to love here and now. What I meant was, they’re in eternity cause they had the faith to believe in the possibility. It frankly never occurred to me that the suicide aspect of their story would be plugged in to people’s take on ‘Reaper,’ making it an advertisement for suicide. The “40,000” number was pulled from the air as a guess about how many people died every day worldwide, not how many people committed suicide.”
Great comment. Never knew his writing process thourghout this song. Very interesting
“Godzilla”
“I’m Burning for You”
“Veteran of a Thousand Psychic Wars”
Joan Crawford too
Then came the last days of may and Astronomy
I'm Burning for you has always been my favorite.
The golden age of leather
"Stone of Love"
One band I don't see enough love for is The Cult. An amazing band with songs such as: She Sells Sanctuary, Fire Woman, Sun King, and many more.
More people need to know about this older band.
Xavier Forget I saw The Cult with Guns’n’Roses. They were absolute GARBAGE.
M Parker 😂😂😂😂😂😂
M Parker they sound ass lol
Xavier Forget they are amazing especially the song nirvana and big neon glitter
Xavier Forget - how about The Sisters Of Mercy?
Man these guys keep doing the classics. Awesome choices
Needs more cowbell......
Baz on Blades "I got a fever"..
More cow bell baby!!
More cow bell
I respect you
I knew this comment would be here ........ lol
It's really cool to see people first discover something new, I really love these videos!
From another Free thinker, right back atchya. Glad to see/ hear others exploring.
Fun fact: This song was featured in the original Halloween movie. In a scene where Jamie Lee Curtis' character Laurie Strode is driving around with her friend, this song can be heard from the car radio while they are both smoking a joint. The song is quite faint in that scene but it's quite noticeable if you really listen to it. I had seen Halloween many times before but I didn't realize this song was in that movie until a few years ago.
Was also expertly used in the first scenes of Stephen King's The Stand.
@@kykk3365 Stephen King is a huge Blue Öyster Cult fan
Glad someone else picked this up. Thought I was the only one
It's kinda funny because they are being stalked by micheal Myers which brings death
You may be thinking of "Turn, Turn, Turn" by The Byrds. "To Everything Turn, Turn, Turn, There Is A Season Turn, Turn, Turn" Another fantastic old school rock/period song.
YES!!!! You are THE MAN sir! Just checked it out. That is the EXACT song!
As much as you gentlemen have helped me open my mind to new music and things I haven't heard, I'm just glad to be of service in some small way.
was thinking the same thing Andy........I think this song has also been sampled in a hip/hop tune
Speaking about the Byrds- "I wasnt born to follow" if you're into the late 60s, 70s vibe!
Surely no one could be that inaccurate.. Byrds...BOC.. come off it!
One of my all time fav songs I was a kid heard my parents listening to it I'm 42 I still love it one of the best old songs that reaches into my soul
You gents are so good at what you do. You truly understand and have an appreciation for music of all sorts.
6:20 I have always found those lines to be chilling and eerie. You can picture exactly what happened in that room from her perspective. It's cinematic as hell.
Blue Öyster Cult is a very unique band. Part psychedelic, part progressive, part hard rock, with a touch of punk attitude on some songs, while some songs have somewhat of a show tune feel to them. A very unique band indeed.
Over Under Sideways Down, thanks!
Two songs you are thinking about:
The Byrds. "Turn, Turn, Turn."
And, David Bowie: "Changes."
"Oh, no! There goes Tokyo! Go, go Godzilla!"
Its hard to imagine not knowing this song. I grew up with it. Its practically in my DNA.
Blue oyster cult was more progressive/psychadelic rock than regular rock or metal. Still a great choice. It's also a song about the upside of death. Which makes it strange and wild in and of itself. Not to mention it's the band's anthem. Enjoy.
Sean K "it's this band's anthem" Which is kinda a shame, they have a song about Godzilla :-p
Yeah, it's definitely more prog or psychedelic than metal, but Blue Öyster Cult is hard rock. I don't see a problem calling them proto-metal, or at least heavily influencing the early sound.
They are a bit of everything. But in the 80's they went full on Heavy Metal.
Repetition works for me in this song. I love the riff and look forward to hearing it throughout the song. Never thought of it that way before. Thanks!
Songs can take you back to another time that you’ve lived where you reflect on your life and things you’ve been through. I can hear songs from my childhood that my parents listened to and make me cry for times that have past , but it can also be comforting in a way.
Surprised you haven't heard this one, George. This is the "more cowbell" song. Now for my traditional Whitesnake Still of the Night request...please!
Nice, I literally just saw White Snake with Foreigner and Jason Bonham's Zeppelin Experience last Friday, they played Still of the Night extended version to end their set...excellent show!
The song George is thinking of is probably 'Turn! Turn! Turn!' by The Byrds. Came to mind immediately when I heard this
DieselBudgie Definitely! Same thing that came to mind when I heard him say "change change change" lol.
Love you guys!!!
Played all thru STEPHEN KINGS," THE STAND''. LAWS YES ❗❗❗❗
Yes! And it added so much to the movie. Great song. It stands the test of time.
M O O N ... THAT SPELLS REAPPER

BOC is a fantastic band and should definitely be delved into.
This song was ubiquitous on the radio for decades, and they have so much more that is better.
I was surprised you went here, and I hope you dig deeper.
I have been a fan of Blue Oyster Cult since their first album. i have seen them Live 28 times. Great Group! Thanks for the review.
Wow that's a hardcore fan ahah
I predict 1 million subscribers within 3 months...You guys are great!!!
Got to see these guys in concert great concert hope you got a video
Thank you for reacting to this song, it’s one of my all time favorites!
Daniel Guijarro me toooo!!! EVERYDAY I listen to this! Love it!
Daniel Guijarro there's Gojira in your surname lol
I took part in my high school's battle of the bands my junior year. The group I was in was trying to think of a name for us, and we settled on Red Clam Organization.
Most of my classmates didn't get the joke but a number of parents came up to us after we got off stage and said they knew what we were up to with that name lol.
Your videos are very addictive! Thank you for great entertainment! Very smart and funny. Hello from Russia!
ive always loved this song.
one of those songs that i rermeber where i was ,the first time i ever heard it.
Blue Oyster Cult - Astronomy
A lot of people think “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper” is a song about suicide. Your interpretation is close to what Buck Dharma (the writer) said it was about, so good job picking up on that.
You guys are KILLING it!!!! Great song from a terrific band! Keep up the amazing work! You guys might also recognize the song from Saturday Night Live. "More cowbell!"
Joseph Polito that's what I first thought out the gate too! More cowbell! Hahaha
Dawn 🤣🤣🤣
Ehh!!!
I gotta fever.... and the only prescription... is more cowbell!
this video is a perfect example of why i love this show. Thanks, dudes.
This song was one of the main ones in the movie The Stand .
Don't remember it in the Stand but it was used in the original Halloween movie.
In the book as well!!!
@@leecheetham6031 It was the opening song, when the guard grabs his wife and kid and crashes through the gate of the military installation where the virus is first let loose.
This band was a HUGE influence on the band, Ghost. VERY influential. I think instead of "Change, change, change", you mean Turn, Turn, Turn" by The Byrds
Dave Lanciani 100%
Yes, exactly what I thought too.
The first time I heard ghost that was my description of them to friends was blue oyster cult with satanic themes.
Holy Shit! You’re right! I recently just started checking out Ghost and thought they sounded eerily familiar to me, but couldn’t pinpoint it!
Personally I think this song has the greatest guitar solo ever recorded. The build up and deliverance is brutal. I know it's not the longest or most complex but the set up and execution make it epic.
There's a guitar solo in Porcupine Tree - Anesthetize, at 4:00, which really reminds me of this.
Definitely up there with the best esp. as far as iconic. Buck did some good work.
The Solo sounds like it belongs in a Bond movie.
Check out Bucks other solos then. You won't be disappointed either
My favorite solo
Love you two !!!
What a great medium for channeling/discovering new music....a reaction RUclips channel
There is never enough mention of the amazing, emotional guitar solo in this song, it blows me away every time. Really enjoying getting a different perspective from you guys on songs & bands I've been listening to all my life.....
Many people have heard only the "AM radio version" where the guitar solo was edited out.
that solo is so far ahead of its time! it reminds me of mars volta / at the drive in
Hey I just remembered... Stephen King's "The Stand" (book and mid-90s miniseries) starts with this song and the big finale is a showdown in Las Vegas. Ooo... connections!
evakatrina a Like it was written for The Stand. It was a perfect match.
The stand came out in 1994 and this song was originally from 1976. It was perfect in the Stand and it's theme but not written for the movie.
Even though I already knew the song I didn't start liking it until I heard it on the Stand that night it premiered. Its a comforting with a dark undertone.
My favorite Stephen king movie!
one of the best beginnings to a movie ever
Guys, I know this is an older post, but, really nice reaction! Very well done!
Might be "The Byrds - Turn! Turn! Turn! (To Everything There Is A Season)" that you're thinking of?
needs more cowbells 😂
Glad you guys reacted to this!
Don’t drive high...but if you do, don’t play this song loudly in your car! When that ‘siren’ sound at 6:04 comes in, you WILL panic! Trust me...
jackpast lol this is gold
Do you know that from experience?
This is my favourite song, I blast this song at least once or twice a week in my car. I’ve never once got scared and had to check my mirrors.

"I've got a fever! And my only prescription is more cowbell!"
This song has been overlayed and played on so many movies, commercials and even elevators, your "sound like" memory is most likely hearing THIS song, you just never realized. The song is about the inevitable falling in love.
@@keklard6676 No, it's not. "Dharma explained in a 1995 interview with College Music Journal: "I felt that I had just achieved some kind of resonance with the psychology of people when I came up with that, I was actually kind of appalled when I first realized that some people were seeing it as an advertisement for suicide or something that was not my intention at all. It is, like, not to be afraid of it (as opposed to actively bring it about). It's basically a love song where the love transcends the actual physical existence of the partners."
Uk subscriber , So glad i found this channel ...great stuff chaps.
We fought against Nazi's, we're not fucking releasing one.
This song is one of my all time favorites but DAMN... it is so SO haunting!! Hauntingly beautiful but haunting nonetheless...
You guys are awesome! I would love to see your reactions to these songs from the 80's! Fleetwood Mac-Gypsy, Talking Heads-Burning down the house, and Billy Idol-White Wedding! These songs have some fantastic dynamics and super-clean grooves that make you truly appreciate what it was like growing up in the 80's
YES - ROUNDABOUT!!!!!!!!!!
Roundabout is a great song! Also "Long-Distance Runaround".
Have you heard Paul Gilbert's cover? He does a great job. :)
YES!, that Bass is Funky in that song
Ripplin Haven’t heard that but I’m gonna look that up now
Teknoman1981 Some of the funkiest most skillful bass I’ve ever heard in a song
I've worked with Blue Oyster Cult twice in my career - GREAT guys, amazingly under-rated... thank you for this reaction! Great stuff.
They were a band before their time . Oh how I have listened to their music over and over again in the 70's and ever since , got me through stuff that was happening with my uncle coming back from nam and his PTSD was bad . My uncle lived with us when he got back .
You are one lucky guy!
They had like.. 4 songs that were ... literally genius. a lot of their stuff not so much. But ask any of the millions of musicians alive.. theyd give both arms and legs just to write THIS song....
sure and i am santa clause.
I Agree
"It's comforting... slowly carrying you into the light"... that is an interesting comment in that I always believed this song was about a Vampire talking his victim into submission! The "B" side of the single was Tattoo Vampire!
This song is in maaaaany movies and tv shows and it's a very important piece on rock and culture in general. Greetings from Monterrey México.
"I gotta fever...and the only prescription...is more cowbell!"

i dont think i can ever take this song seriously ever again. every time i hear it i think of SNL skit. lol

Saw them in london a few weeks ago still amazing , seen them in london each march for the last 3 years thank gawd they come back to the uk every year now !
Thanks for takin on BOC! Do some more of theirs.
My favorite BOC is a classic live video, “Veterans of the Psychic Wars”, drums, guitar solo just one of s kind.
Buck Dharma is a God on that one. Chills every time
agreed.
my ex hates it
maybe that's part of why she's gone
Buck Dharma just goes on an insane guitar solo on the live version. Absolute favourite
Love "Take Me Away" too!
Written for the movie heavy metal (they all got paid well for new material in that movie,Sammy Hagar said the offered in the millions,B.O.C.,Sabbath, Don Henley, Cheap Trick,Devo, and many others,a salute to the rockers of days gone bye
Gotta recommend Sultans of Swing by Dire Straits one more time!
Edit: Definitely the Alchemy Live Version!
Dylan Fleming The Alchemy live version dude
Dylan Fleming now that's a jam !!!!
Sultans of Swing would be AMAZING!
Studio version has nothing against Alchemy.
If you like Sultans of Swing you should check out a you tube channel called Frog Leap studios. Basically he takes a rock or pop song and turns into a metal song, he plays all the instruments and does the mixing. On this song he collabed with another you tuber Mary Spender I think it sounds good he adds a little humor to the videos but its not distasteful. The man must be doing something right he has over 2.5 million subscribers, and the song got 4.4 million views.
That's why I love 70's classic rock! (and other music)
You guys have insane chemistry
You guys should do more Blue Oyster Cult. This is among their most seminal tracks, but a few more to note:

My favorite Sabbath riff, which is saying a lot. Excellent choice.
Dude, yes!
This song is MASSIVE! A classic for sure!

Blue Oyster Cult, known by many as "the thinking man's heavy metal outfit."
The Movie Dealers went to blue oyster cult concert back in the good old days. we sang this as don't fear the reefer. lol
I still do!
That's a terrible description. There is nothing heavy or metal about them. They were a great band and made many awesome tunes.
@@jmurphy6011 Well they had many elements which influenced metal bands later, so they were definitely important to evolution of that said genre
Today, is Tool :)
Watch the Saturday Night Live skit “need more cowbell”. They were doing this song.
I CANNOT listen to this song without saying MORE COWBELL!!! LOL!!
I got a fever!
I gotta have more cowbell!!!!
Haha this comment right here
That "change, change, change" part you were talking about always makes me think of Soundgarden's Rusty Cage. It used to drive me crazy because it would take a while for me to remember which song it was.
Nice choice! I'm pretty sure when the radio plays this, they often play a version of it without the solo to make it shorter, which would explain why you knew the song but didn't recognize the solo.
Digging deep George & Ryan! SNL used this in a skit with Christopher Walken- He’d say as the band leader, “More cowbell!” Awesome Reactions! Making a request for Judas Priest- Beyond The Realms of Death. Thanks for doing this song. Thanks for the feedback.
Yes, Beyond the realm of death, I actually love the live in london version with Tim Owens. Halford is the metal god though.🤘👍

YESS
Hot diggity damn, as soon as I saw this come up in my feed, I dropped everything I was doing to watch it. Don't sleep on Blue Oyster Cult tho, people tend to only know them for this song and Godzilla, but their library is absolutely amazing. Astronomy (my favorite), Burnin' For You, Before The Kiss A Redcap, Golden Age of Leather, Harvest Moon, Perfect Water, The Marshall Plan, and so, so much more.
Perfect Water is beautiful
Blue Oyster Cult is my favorite band. Your suggestions are great, but I would throw Subhuman Imaginos version in the mix as well as I love the Night guitar work in that song is unbelievable.
She's as beautiful as a foot! Also, The last days of may. But for me, anything from the first 3 albums, and a lot of the rest of their catalogue lol.

Their song 'Cities on flame with rock and roll' has an epic bass riff in the beginning you'd like.
Life is the elusion (magician on the cover). We are spiritual beings having a human experience and in our physical death we go back to our spiritual consciousness (our Soul). Message: Don’t fear death because, it’s NOT the end! “ Romeo and Juliet are together in eternity”. Wonderful, powerful song. Thanks guys for playing it.
Boy does that bring back memories...lol thats mushroom tea music!!
Now check out the SNL skit paying homage to this song. Epic.
Your thinking of "The Chain" Fleetwood Mac, different band but you got a good ear, same chord progression. "Chain, chain, chain will keep us together"
Freezknotable I agree!
Kevin Mills people are saying the Byrds turn, turn, turn and UFO, but I knew as soon as he said change change change that he was hearing... Chain, chain, chain, will keep us together, Fleetwood Mac because he's very very very smart guy both of these guys are they have impeccable taste and they're very musically inclined and the one who is trying to figure out what song it was also has a really good grasp on that 70 sound so he was hearing that 70 sound... turn turn turn written by Bob Dylan although performed by The Byrds has a more 60 sound. but I knew it was Fleetwood Mac right away cuz it's what I heard.
Freezknotable lol no
Freezknotable I don't think that has a similar feel at all, but the Byrd's song does.
It's definitely the Chain... gotta be.
This song (or at least an edited version without the solo) has been used in so many movies! I was shocked the first time I heard the solo as I had heard the edited version so many times, and it has such an abrasive tone when it comes screaming in
It has been in a few soundtracks. The eerie sound is perfect for setting a mood.
