I’ve tried a few MMOs this year, and honestly, it’s been a mixed bag. Throne and Liberty was a disappointment, and surprisingly, I enjoyed Bless Unleashed more than that. Dragon & Home was a chill surprise, but nothing really stuck. I always find myself going back to BDO - the combat and graphics are top-tier - but even then, I can only enjoy it for about a month before wanting to try something new. The MMO genre has just been a huge letdown lately. Hence why I’ve been playing Strinova instead.

I like the combat in ESO as long as you ignore the light weaving aspect. I put long duration dots and ground effects on the backbar lay them out first, switch to front bar with shorter duration abilities then spam attack on B/Circle + Light Attacks. It's more comfortable this way and combat doesn't feel weird, only swapping to backbar when I need to refresh the dots and ground.
I am just sad that Gw2 is not covered by bigger RUclipsrs like you. I will not blaming you for not putting it on the list, I am simply sad to not see it there. I love that MMO and imo it is criminally underrated. Lets see what next year brings to the table for Gw2.
some ppl/youtubers only wants the nostalgic feeling of mmo, and i think thats the reason why many cant appreciate the art of GW2. its because GW2 stands firm in its own way. the beauty, the gameplay, the mechanics. gw2 surely built different
What do u mean people cant see the beauty and that its underrated? Someone made a top 250 mmorpgs according to videos and articles, i predicted it was going to be top 3, and it was top 3, and why did i guess that? Because i watch a lot of videos like these and its always in the tops. It is not underrated because everyone actually knows its good
If its the same throughout years then they must be somewhat noteworthy dont you agree?? Consistently is what we need in these games instead of them dying.
My wife and I have been LOVING Wow lately. Delves are so much fun and I'm glad you mentioned them. Neither of us have the time to to dedicate to being in a guild and maintaining a raid or M+ schedule. As such we don't have a M+ score so we couldn't pug it if we want to, and we don't want to pug content, lol. Delves gave us content that was challenging, but we could do just us. I've really enjoyed it, and I'm excited for the future, with cool new classes hinted at, and player housing, it will be fun. FFXIV, we both quit when we saw the dawntrail announcement video. It looked so bad. The game is great story wise, but they're really falling behind in system updates. So much of the game is cumbersome or outdated. There's so much of the game that's just hidden that you need. Leveling alt specs is really boring, you have to go through all content to catch up, which leads to some weird gearing situations, and materia is just a terrible system. They need to fix some of the core parts of the game, because we won't come back if we're forced to play through this expansion to get to a future good expansion. I'd play through the story, but I don't want to have to gear up for each new step of content, and play through it slowly, to get to good content in the future. They need to streamline it, and update their systems to be more user friendly to keep up in the current age.
Left Dawntrail after I got to the credits. Easiest decision ever. Like you, after I saw the initial trailer I knew it was going to be shit but I thought there would be some redeeming quality to keep me in at least, but nah. I'll check back in 2 years for the next expansion maybe. I'm just going to assume everyone that keeps their sub going is because they're erpers or being held at gunpoint, I can't understand it otherwise.
There are only a small handful of MMOs I find myself consistently enjoying and I just rotate between those (Basically the ones covered in this video minus Once Human, with ESO chief among them). Despite disappointment after disappointment from the few new titles like Lost Ark that I actually get excited about, I remain hopeful that a worthy new addition to my little roster will come. And if and when it does, I am sure you'll let me know about it. And for that, I want to say thanks!
how do you feel about Path of Exile on this list/in general? I see a ton of players on that game. I never got too deep myself but I'm thinking about going back to it
I remember in SWTOR i was a dps shadow, then one of our tanks left, so we lacked a secondary tank for the two raids that existed in the beginning, so i was asked, here i am in dps gear tanking shit, and ended up changing my the augs in my armor and a tanking crystal in my ,light saber and ended up becoming the main tank. I loved the one where you fight SOA, i didnt mind the other, but when the first expansion came out, my computer wasnt good enough for the new raid, and by then, i had a falling out with several members of the guild and it sort of killed the game for me
Enjoyed the video a lot and was really suprised on what you thought of the last two games. I would not have guessed that Swtor was on this list. Positive surprise and I will give ESO a chance again too. I loves KOTOR when I was a child and SWTOR is really fun. Also elder scrolls. Enough said.
Everquest 2 is still a fun game, not great, but fun. I truly miss old time Everquest 1, how fun it was puts everything to shame today. The first time you zone out of your city and you see the world, kill your first rat or bat, the first time it rains, and sadly if you played a human, you didnt have night vision and if you didnt know how to change the lighting on your settings, you had to find a save spot to sit down until morning
Are you not even going to cover Pantheon finally going into early access after a decade? Over 2,000 people concurrently on steam and mostly positive reviews. I thought you were an MMO channel?
I've played it a TON. I just didn't have any motivation to continue this year haha. Maybe I'll go back and push through the 2 latest expansions in 2025! Still a great game!
i just miss mmorpgs with an real artstyle like WoW or Wildstar and such, i don't really vibe with "realistic" looking mmorpgs so much, to me they all just look kinda boring even with the amount of detail. SWTOR still holds up in my opinion in that regard but at the end of the day i'd just really like wildstar back xD

Ever quest , runescape, and WOW will for ever be the Goats. Wish they would come out with something like them cool one day. Aparrently Leauge of Legends is trying to make a MMO ?
WoW, FFXIV, ESO & SWTOR all cover the MMORPG genre in different areas. It makes it difficult for other traditional MMORPG's to break through & stand out. Games like Once Human do enough to separate itself from those four although I wouldn't call it a traditional MMORPG. It does offer a unique & different experience which is what I enjoy playing it for. There's still a ton of MMORPG's out there to try. New World, Throne & Liberty, Black Desert & so on. None of which I've enjoyed much.
Only MMO I am playing now is OSRS lol I also play FF14 during big patches, but only during those, since I've more or less done all side activities that aren't mindnumbing grinds haha
Guild Wars 2 is the only mmo worth playing now than ever 😁. Unlike traditional and modern MMOs, there's so much to do without the modern gear treadmill that devalues your progress and reset your gear in every update 😓.
Its crazy you say, because theres another MMO that got stale at a rapid rate because they eliminated the need to farm new gear. Destiny 2 so a rapid decline in player engagement because there is zero reason to chase anything new in the game. Large reason why I've never given GW2 a chance because it just seems so pointless, as well as the games focus on PVP being a huge fail as well.
There are many things you can chase after in Guild Wars 2. You could spend years working toward certain goals. But the best part is that if your goals change, you lose nothing. You can stop chasing at any point, play something else, and return to the game whenever you want to continue from where you left off, even after 10 years. The gear system in GW2 is incredibly friendly. Instead of seeing the content as a grind, work, or being a slave, you can just enjoy the game. I’m mostly a PvP player. Once I defeat the final boss a couple of times (2 or 3 times if it wasn’t fun), I lose interest. It feels like the end because I don’t want to keep repeating the same thing over and over. But in GW2, if I get the drop, gear, or achievement I want, I don’t have to keep doing that content unless I actually enjoy it. WvW in GW2 is far from a failure - it’s a success that captures the essence of true PvP. It’s the true endgame for me, offering large-scale PvP similar to the open-world PvP I enjoyed in Aion and Lineage 2 before NCSoft ruined them with P2W stuff. I don’t like arena PvP in any game. I’ll be honest - I didn’t like the last two expansions in GW2, so I don’t play them. If this were a traditional MMO, that would probably mean the end of the game for me. But in GW2, I can keep enjoying the parts of the game I like. You can’t fairly judge something you’ve never given a real chance. Believe me, if you give it a chance, you might just get addicted. I used to think like you and left the game many times in the past, but after truly experiencing GW2 just after quiting Lost Ark, I can’t stand the traditional MMO progression system anymore. I don’t want to lose my hard work, achievements, or legendary gear every time a new update is released. I had a really bad experience with Lost Ark. After taking just a two-week break, all my progress was devalued because of new player events and updates. It was soooooooo frustrating, so I quit. GW2 progression system is the reason I’m still interested in MMOs nowadays. I know this was a long reply, but I just wanted to express why GW2 system is the best for me and the main reason I didn’t quit the MMO genre.
@@Nixxieds There are things to grind for. There are collections for special skins and effects. There are decorations for house instance. There are relics to unlock etc.
I know you guys here don't like Throne and Liberty but I am really enjoying it for 200 hours now. I like the PVP focus because for me dungeons are boring. In wow you get really good gear by just going PVP and don't need to touch dungeons. In Throne and Liberty unfortunately I am little forced to go dungeons because gear and runes which I don't like. There is still a lot to improve tho.
I don't know if you've tried Black Desert Online yet, but that game doesn't force anyone to do anything with mostly everything. The game is PvP focused and can legit get gear by just spamming instanced PvP for money and buying your gear or grinding in PvE for faster money, or even take it slow and Craft, Sail, or Gather or Fish for massive gains to make profit to get PvP gear! And in the future, they are adding like a semi Battle Royal like server for hardcore players and big rewards. Everyone spawns in with the same gear, you have to find new gear to grow stronger and survive
So basically the same list as every year prior but with Once Human added to it but no mention of the season resets or the monetization hellscapes of the other mentions. No mention of GW2. Sadge.
I left Warframe and Final Fantasy XIV after many years. And i don't play any MMO right now... I wanted to try Path of exile, but i can't stand top bottom tabletop rpg's how they are called. Where the camera is a ceiling/sky pov like Diablo. It sucks to not have any MMO to play to be honest...
I gave up on Star Wars after it had game vaulting bugs (actual switches not loading, bugging story quests) and trying the dungeon finger caused keto sync UP to a high end game dungeon that was 60lva above me. I was lv 20, scaled up, and no skills. As the tank. I uninstalled the game.
Yeah, I really want to love ESO, but it remains my favorite game to not play... SWtOR is also entertaining in small doses. As it turns out, fun combat is kind of hard to do in these games. Too many games just feel glacial.
I found alot of the mmos you pointed out as good combat as rather trashy combat, i found Elder Scrolls Online as trash personally, i went right back to Swtor, the stories are awesome, the combat is more interesting and fast, the only slow and annoying combat is the world bosses and the bosses in general, the amount of health they have is insanely unrealistic. But each to their own.
I think its time for you to focus on single player game. Those games are the one thats always trending right now cause they're really good. MMO is dying. Future MMO are mostly korean made and they all look the same.
Seriously?! It's another year and still same crap just old titles and nothing else. Let's keep playing in old crap for another hundreds/thousands hours because of nostalgia.
Surprised you didn't say Black Desert Online, game has a consistent player base, probably higher than both Star Wars and Elder Scrolls. lol And Black Desert is a really fun PvP game. The only reason BDO is in a bad spot atm is because the Devs decided to make drastic PvP changes which pissed off a lot of the Playerbase into quitting, but they are slowly recovering by fixing the PvP that they destroyed in 1 update. And we have a new Gun class incoming alongside a whole bunch of new content and Expansions in the coming year. Edit: Forgot to mention that they also adding like a Battle Royal like server where you enter for 2hrs. and see who can rack up the most survive points, find new gear to get stronger, and deposit your points to claim victory. Everyone starts off with the same gear and is randomly spawned in a random spot in the desert.
lineage 2 is the only MMORPG out there it is the biggest hardest most complex needs milions of hours and reading and wikipedia to understand and make something like 100 people needa work together just to craft some boots and the design of that game and the text and the vibe is un matched also lineage 1 back i dos days was the best most complex mmorpg also so un beatable sorry
People always go on and on about how amazing the combat is but it's so brainless, people only thing it's amazing because it's flashy but flashy effects don't make good real combat.

Misspelled final fantasy XIV
Shout out to an old Sega game ...Dreamscape...wow...they used the old pitfall mechanics and gave it a story and some fun....
So basically the same list as every year prior but with Once Human added to it but no mention of the season resets or the monetization hellscapes of the other mentions. No mention of GW2. Sadge.
thats because GW2 is MID asf
@Nixxieds So is pretty much everything mentioned in this video.
I’m so sad about ffxiv. It’s my favorite game and I’ve slowly fallen out of love with it. The msq for dawntrail was like the final nail in the coffin.
Throne & Liberty by far the best.
Throne and Liberty still is so much fun! and still has alot of people active.
ESO combat is not slow, idk where that even comes from. The combat is flawless
Dwg only FF14 actually good
What's your favorite expansion?
U have gacha in ur pfp. Makes ur opinion worthless.
@@NycroLPbro the video creator literally has a whole channel about gacha games.
@@delta6855 They do it for the views while the other guy does it unironically.
Oh was it now? 😂
Can you make best mmos for console?
Rip the MMORPG genre.. it was great while it lasted
Yeah, I really want to love ESO, but it remains my favorite game to not play...
SWtOR is also entertaining in small doses.
As it turns out, fun combat is kind of hard to do in these games. Too many games just feel glacial.
Bruh can you please make an update on arvita
this feels more like paid add
Honestly i am tired of seeing the same list every year can just get some good mmos that dont shutdown or actually make it out of alpha stage
Unfortunately, they can’t do them as well anymore
New world aternum , most fun ive had since the early days of w.o.w
I found alot of the mmos you pointed out as good combat as rather trashy combat, i found Elder Scrolls Online as trash personally, i went right back to Swtor, the stories are awesome, the combat is more interesting and fast, the only slow and annoying combat is the world bosses and the bosses in general, the amount of health they have is insanely unrealistic.
But each to their own.
I have played SWTOR. I would rather play Star Trek Online to be honest. You can't beat the Starship combat.
I think its time for you to focus on single player game. Those games are the one thats always trending right now cause they're really good. MMO is dying. Future MMO are mostly korean made and they all look the same.
I'm still playing Once Human. Still good for me
Exactly this! So many people still are!
Seriously?! It's another year and still same crap just old titles and nothing else. Let's keep playing in old crap for another hundreds/thousands hours because of nostalgia.
here we go again
I knew not to listen when they said WoW was good right now lol. They literally lost the most players ever
I’m still Waiting for blue protocol
It got shut down and canceled. :(
@ whattttt I thought they was just putting it on hold because Amazon was working on something else 😭
Where is New World?
One Human has a big problem of being interesting after a few weeks.
Throne and Liberty
Where is old school runescape
6:15 "Dragonflight"
LMAO I meant Dawntrail. Shit I get those 2 expansions mixed up all the time!
I just can't find the time to play FFXIV with all these gacha games. 🙄
Haha understandable!
I see
I would nominate FFXIV: Dawntrail for the biggest disappointment of 2024 award.
The mmoscape
is absolutely barren.
Mmos are not worth playing since like 2010 or 2015
Once human is a good game but i don't like the way they doing the season
same old list , daym. we really need better ones. only 1 is new
No NEW WORLD AETERUEM ?
I gave up on MMO's a long TIME agoo 🤣
Surprised you didn't say Black Desert Online, game has a consistent player base, probably higher than both Star Wars and Elder Scrolls. lol
And Black Desert is a really fun PvP game.
I only play mabinogi
End up the old mmo is better than latest mmo haha😂
More waifu characters lol
lineage 2 is the only MMORPG out there it is the biggest hardest most complex needs milions of hours and reading and wikipedia to understand and make something like 100 people needa work together just to craft some boots and the design of that game and the text and the vibe is un matched also lineage 1 back i dos days was the best most complex mmorpg also so un beatable sorry
Black desert sucks so bad it isn’t even a game.
Mash some buttons. Your character does all kinds of things you didn’t even intend to do.
People always go on and on about how amazing the combat is but it's so brainless, people only thing it's amazing because it's flashy but flashy effects don't make good real combat.
same ol, same ol
what a dissapponting list....this is 2024 really? MMO genre is dead.
Return to Wok Lumat
your definition of mmo is bad
and the best is obviously tnl
Digimon masters online
Well the list stays the same lol
