Do you plan to fix the Value Pack end excluding players that spent their monthly food budget buying outfits and pets - from grinding and using auction house? Overweight, Lack of inventory slots and overpaying taxes makes us quit the game and hate it everywhere in the internet every few months or years, and Im not a f2p player - but scammed kickstarter who trusted in non-p2w promises they made before releasing this game in Europe. Great video! I came to BDO from FFXIV and WoW before it in 2021, and I love the absolute freedom it provides you. Other MMOs (like the two I mentioned) fall into the trap of "do your dailies and weeklies OR ELSE," so having an MMO that rewards me based on my time spent in it, regardless of if I play 2 hours that week or 20 hours that week, is just so freeing. Also helps that the moment to moment gameplay is so good. The secret is to not take the game too seriously, otherwise you fall into the rabbithole of "I spent two months grinding for an upgrade and failed all ten taps I saved up for in a row." Stepping off of the treadmill is by far the best kind of experience BDO can offer, better than any other MMO I played.
Ive been playing pretty casually since the free to play weekend last week, and I've really been enjoying myself. Brand new to the game and I have 0 expectations. Story is very gripping to me, combat is soo much fun, and it feels like there is still so much yet to experience. Im level 56 and the game just keeps getting better and better the longer I play
Compared to Lost Ark or other similar "upgrade RN systems" BDO seems quite ok. Which is crazy considering how rough it really is. When Fail Stacking and Gearing is the main driver, it isn't surprising the rest of the content is ignored. It isn't player power. If they made Player Power more achievable and Life Skills / Exploration more profitable they will have more engagement in the areas where they see zero.
I love BDO, it is easy to play for a while when you have the itch for the best Combat in a MMORPG and when you getting bored can leave for a while and come back without falling too way behind like in other MMOs. The only other game that does this is Guild Wars 2 and the best thing about the 2 games is that they do not need a Subscription. I just wished the would have a server that bumps all mobs to a midgame spot so you can grind where ever you want and make at least 500k. In general the game needs more grindspots that have more focus on mechanics like more mobs for AOE or stronger mobs for single target damage and such
The best way to enjoy BDO in 2025? Be super casual and don't worry about the endless threadmill. Do the content that looks fun and don't do what doesn't look fun.
Great video. As for me, I haven't grind since I return last year (2024). I'm currently focus on my life skill now. 400m+ daily Imperial Box, 500M+ aFk fishing (they buff fishing few months ago). While aFk, I play other games XD
Actually u can get 1b/hr with grind monster at 290++Ap right now. But i also doing samething like urs. I play another game n do afk fishing. N i got around 700m-1B from afk fishing at velia beach for a whole night 😅
I have had two accounts in BDO: 1st account I played 10K hours 2016-2020. I was always softcap (which was like 580-600GS i think back then? 269AP), I then quit the game. 2nd account was a fresh start in 2022 after I had to do covid lockdown. I wanted to start fresh to avoid baggage from my other account. I played seasonal etc and was blown away by how different the game was from when I started in 2016. Fast forward to now, I only play when I feel like it, and constantly take breaks. I observe for events etc that might be interesting and I'll pop in to do that content. I am 738GS now, and have a very healthy relationship with the game. I joke and say that I can "finally play the game" with my gear. I am incredibly happy with how approachable the game is now, the game was insanely hardcore in 2016. BDO new player experience (first 100 hours) is a 10/10 game in my opinion, I've never experienced anything like it since.
I have a question so can I experience all forms of PvP in a capped setting cuz the extensive time consuming gear grinding is what really turns me off from this game.
I've come back to BDO myself. Took the freebies, got some gear progress with it. Grinded for about 2 hours total? maybe not even that. And have just gone straight to random life skilling and setting up worker nodes and the Seoul Workshops. I can't really stomach Grinding for very long, and I don't want to do it. So I'm gonna just get on, chat shit with guildies and do life skilling. And then Surprise people when I'm a lot stronger than they expect if necessary. It's a peaceful life.
yup he sums it up well. I have had the same issue with BDO I come back a year later and all i do is jump to grinding because that is what the game has been making me feel like is the most valuable thing to do. Every time I touched a side quest or story or explored, I felt like I could have spent that time grinding and actually making progress. This time around after playing path of exile 2 I was wondering why not play bdo?? it has so much things I can do. But then I looked at the micro transaction and all the sudden am like yaaaaaa now am not sure if i wanna play bdo a game where I have 50k hours in (mostly afk ofc) Modern games are changing man, all this hardcore grinding and microtransactions are slowly going down in recent respectable games like path of exile2 recently. BDO needs to step up and be more friendly to casual as well as be less greedy.
gutting life-skills made me quit BDO. i liked fishing early in the release, horse breeding etc. they made it irrelevant, so when i wanted to take a break from grinding it became not playing for days, weeks months at a time instead of building a boat, or doing some weird side activity. shame
I've played for years and now is the first time I don't feel like I know what to do. The trading system for one was something I did a lot with a dedicated character now that is pointless, and I also don't know how to trade anymore apparently.
i love this game ,dropped it and when i came back i found changes in inventory slot which became limited to F2P players and it made me very disappointed .idk this will be changed or not but i hope the game to be F2P friendly making it enjoyable for me to play
Yes, this is definitely true- But I would say that at the cron upgrading stage you quickly get to the diminishing returns part. I don't think I've seen a single person "happy" with sovereign upgrading success because it's just a 1AP bump each upgrade. So I'd say for casuals there is no pressure to push that. Which I think has been their main objective. Failing over and over on super expensive steps still isn't fun of course, so it would be nice if they could find a way to make the cron-upgrading more fun as well. Imagine that during activities/grinding a cron meter would fill-up which then allows a tap once every couple hours by proxy of active gameplay or something of the sort.
they need to gut like 80 percent of the clutter, stream line going into the other content that can break up the mindless grinds. Dedicated clear quest paths for sea hunting, trading, gathering and manufacturing, and for god sakes make all the main and key quest family bound so you don't have to see all that dam visual cluster fuck. And make group content that actually can progress your account. I only come on for the big free shit and a new seasonal character, cause thats the most simple content.
Actually they did, they increased the silver you get from fish traded in ontop of adding a bunch of new prized catches, also the addition of the new lifeskill accessories will also improve your silver/hr
Reading this comment after waking up to over 5b in afk actives makes me cringe. I'm a pve player at core but lifeskill cof fishing cof is easy enough money... I know you're gonna say it's prize fish but it's been the second time this week alone and at minimum with afk fish and imperials people start their day with 1b a day plus mercing that's 2b before any grind...
@@marcioabreu1150 I've also been doing the afk fishing; got the full durability reduction setup, but I do think people not realizing the potential earnings from fishing is indicative of it not being communicated too well in-game. I would say that a system such as in BDO Mobile would be nice, where you can claim up to 8 hours of an afk activity after logging in, without having to leave your device running and consuming power, that would be nice as well. But obviously that wouldn't boost their playtime numbers the in the way it currently does.
This game is so freaking weird, it was supposed to be this super-elite-grind-hardcore-consume-your-life-game, but it has just become "why even play when i can just not do anything for 5 years and get free pen gear and a pegasus shoved up my arse", honestly when i told my friend they are giving away free pegasus' he got so mad, and rightfully so. I'm sorry but this game has the clunkiest and weirdest "action combat" of any game I've ever played. The classes are weird and gender locked. The way the characters run is stiff and weird. I'd 100% rather play TERA on Xbox than play this mess of a game. The questing is bizarre and unintuitive. Majority of classes are big tit busty godesses - they are certainly beautiful but not the kind of character I want to play as. The number of cool male classes to choose is disappointingly limited. And again the "action combat" in this game is nowhere near as good as people make it out to be. TERA is better. ESO is better. Throne and Liberty is even better. Rather play any online PvP game than this - Conan Exiles, Smite, etc. They all beat the crap out of this game. Sorry. This is just my opinion and letting anyone else know who's looking for a good game to play.
