Not a lot of difference...... I have the original so-called short range 5, and with sensible driving I achieved 220+ miles per full charge over the winter months and am currently getting 240 to 250 miles per charge in the warmer weather we are now getting. I think this is a very good return on a car that has a WLTP figure of 214 miles and I think is superb value for money. As you said early in the video, the short range isn't really such a short range after all. I love it!
Mother lives in south-west Cumbria, so have regularly driven those roads 😃. Will be back down in 10 days time. On a more serious note, I find the interior rather dark. With it’s low roofline compared to a SUV, it desperately needs an electric tilt & slide sunroof to allow more light in. My Subaru Outback has a panoramic sunroof. What a difference it makes. Really light and airy. Also offers great views of the Cumbrian mountains when traversing Langdale or the Kirkstone Pass.
Glad to see you are headed back here soon, Adrian! Honestly, I think most cars would benefit from a panoramic sunroof, although I didn’t find it so very dark inside, even though we spent a long time in this one. *A
Thanks for the video. I am enjoying my MG5 LR a very capable car. I'm considering a Scotland trip later this year. My neighbour liked mine so much he has bought one in black.
You’re very welcome, we really enjoy driving this, that sounds an adventure and a half and that’s great to hear, they’re very likeable - if you’re close to hear give us a shout, thank you Keith
Did you mention decorative roof rails whilst heading through Windermere? LR model is rated at 75kg vs 35kg for SR. Enjoying this video though, had been hoping for it to appear 👍
Enjoyed your review of mg5 interesting car good value only electric estate on the market except porsche taycan sports turismo passed through ambleside to lake windermere nice views.
Really interested in getting an MG5, I haven’t Road tested one yet but I sat in one at an EV day at Beaulieu, the first thing I notices is the big black lump of a mirror assembly in the middle of the windscreen, does it restrict you view much? I drive a Peugeot parter at present which has a massive windscreen. Great road trip.
I got my 53kw model just as the long range was being released. If I remember rightly the long range was £6000 more then my heavily discounted "short" range. Not worth it for me, the short range version has been just fine.

Couldn't agree more, Andrew. You get a heck of a lot for the money with this model. *A

The roof bars are no longer ‘decorative’, they are rated to 75kg 👍🏻
Thank you Clive - we can’t keep up with Roof bar conspiracy 😆
I've always liked the look of a jobbing estate car. This is no exception.
It’s great value and looks conventional, just the ticket, thank you Ambienfinity

Perfect, we’d be happy with a SEAT Mii electric, there’s some great deals on lower range vehicles
@@PlanetautoUK Last I looked, MG Sunderland had some 2022 61kw models MG5 in stock for sub-20k.
That’s a bargain, we really enjoyed our adventures in the pre facelift model. Road trip and review for facelift coming soon.
We do like a proper estate car ........ wouldn’t swap though !
Estates are always going to have a place in our hearts, thank you Richard
