    Excellent tutorial. I used this to make a bag even larger than your instructions. I made/attached the handles a bit differently but the bag turned out perfectly! Thank you!

    Thank You, Sharon. I know your style of presentation from watching so many other of your videos. I actually like that you write out the simple directions of yardage in your own handwriting. Like most project tutorials that I want to make, I watch more than once - in fact I watch them many many times over, when I'm planning to give the project a try. Oh and thanks for keeping the videos available forever since sometimes its months later that I'm getting around to doing them.

    Hello, what happens if you make the bag without any interfacing? Or, what if you forget to add the interfacing but the bag still looks good? How can you add interfacing if you (for whatever reason) don't add it or apply it while making the bag? How can you reinforce the bag without the interfacing after you've made it?

  • @JenniferJones-ll4sf
    @JenniferJones-ll4sf 4 года назад

    Hello, love the detailed instructions. QUESTION: what type of interfacing are you using? Or what interfacing types do you recommend? Thank you

    • @TheSewingRoomChannel
      @TheSewingRoomChannel  4 года назад +1

      Hi Jennifer. I mostly use Pellon Craft Fuse #803 heavy iron-on fusible interfacing. Stay safe. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing.

      @@TheSewingRoomChannel Hello again. Obviously I'm new to sewing, lol... What needle and thread types will I need for sewing with canvas?
      Also can you offer a suggestion as to a great beginners item to sew. I use to sew somewhat many many years ago on what they now consider a vintage singer haha.. I just bought the singer 4452 to get familiar with seeing again.

    • @TheSewingRoomChannel
      @TheSewingRoomChannel  4 года назад +1

      Hi Jennifer. There is not set standard of needles and thread. Each thread company has their own needle requirements for their threads. Here is a link to a video that explains it. ruclips.net/video/g00PcmnQSuY/видео.html

    Hi, I am interested in making this tote but in the vertical format. I am going to be using it to hold things like a dressing aid and reacher for occupational therapy. I know it sounds stupid, but will the instructions work the same if I am just turning it around to make the bottom one of the short edges? Also, is there a written version of the pattern?

    • @TheSewingRoomChannel
      @TheSewingRoomChannel  3 года назад

      Hi Carrie. The process of sewing this tote together is the same no matter what size you make it. Adjust the measurements to fit your needs. I do not have a website to download the instructions from. Stay safe. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing.

    In your direction you said the piping needs to be 2@18 long.
    Then in your tutorial you said it should be 26” with 5-1/2 fabric on each end.
    I am confused how long should piping be?

    • @TheSewingRoomChannel
      @TheSewingRoomChannel  5 лет назад

      Hi Marsha. Oops! Thanks for bringing this to my attention. You will need 48" of piping. Cut it in half and put 24" of piping in each strap. Sorry for the confusion. Thanks for watching and happy sewing.

  • @Lisa_meredith1010
    @Lisa_meredith1010 Год назад

    I am really struggling to sew the fabric around the piping. It’s like the feed dogs don’t want to pull it along!

    • @TheSewingRoomChannel
      @TheSewingRoomChannel  Год назад +1

      Hi Lisa. Sorry you are having so much trouble. Are you using a zipper presser foot? The zipper foot is preferred way to stitch this strap. Try this - place thin paper underneath the strap when stitching. The paper will help slide the strap over the feed dogs. Let me know if this helps. Thanks for watching💗and happy sewing.😍

      @@TheSewingRoomChannel I am using a zipper foot but I haven’t tried the paper trick. Thank you so much for responding!!
