    I love this tutorial. I’ve watched it a few times now. I haven’t made the bag as I would really love a version with a handle or something to give a more portable version. Thank you for all your wonderful tutorials

    I really love how this bag turned out. I’ve never seen a zipper done this way - cutting out the top corners. I love how easy it looks to make this way. I think I will either use DecorBond or Foam to give the bag stability. Also a strap on the side for carrying. Cutting out all four pieces is a time saver and gives you the most use of your fabric. Thank you for always teaching me a new way to make things. I really love how you made this bag! Excellent job of making and explaining.🤗💕🧵🛍💕🤗

    I've made 4 of these now and added pockets, handles and little grab tabs either side of the zip. For the pockets I just took a 10 inch square piece of fabric, folded it in half right sides facing, sewed a seam on 2 of the edges, turned it right side round, ironed it ironing in the unsewn edge so it looks like the other edges then sewed this on to the bag inner before you started sewing the bag together with the long edge facing the top. You just sew the sides and bottom 2mm from the edge which finishes off the unsewn seam (don't put that seam to the top.) I also sewed a line of thread from top to bottom part way along the pocket dividing the pocket in to 2 pockets. For handles 2 of my bags had plastic/ leather handles with ready made holes at either end that I sewed on the outers before sewing the bag together, the other 2 had straps made from approx 3cm wide webbing tape that I stitched to either side from the very bottom seam of the bag approx 6 inches from the left edge to just below the line where the top corners are cut off (so the flat finished top of the bag has no handle attached to it), leave a free loop for the handle then back down the same side of the outer 6 inches from the right edge down to the bottom edge. Repeat on the other side. Also do this before sewing the bag together. Brilliant bags. Thanks for the idea.

    I have worked w patterns for 6 decades, I have designed patterns for 5 decades. Working w what you have and having that be your guide is so foreign to me I tried to make a pattern for this bag which meant I would have to go buy a lot of stuff. That did not seem to fall into what you were trying to teach me. So I pulled from my stash, removed a zipper from an old dress in the scrap bag, matched up pieces of med weight interfacing and patch worked it in. I ran out of thread and continued using colors that would work w whatever I already had on spools or bobbins and I did not hesitate to mix them. You are a genius and I am a good student. My bag is beautiful. I did add coordinating fabric made with interfacing and batting in one big circle, laid it out in figure eight and made sure the handles would be the right length running up the bag while spreading out underneath for maximum support. Yes, it took me a good portion of the day as I had to hunt, piece, deconstruct and reconstruct. I did use broadcloth for the inside for strength and soft hand cotton for its beautiful pastel florals for outside. My bag is washable, made from materials purchased in the '80s and '90s so no money was used at this time. I haven't had this much fun in a decade. thank you for the joy you gifted me.

    Lot of videos on RUclips showing how to add pockets to almost anything. I've made several bags already, customizing them with a bunch of pockets and handles.
    This looks like another great bag I can customize for my loom knitting projects. The last bag I made was a large bag that was two-toned as a gift for a friend. It's always fun to figure out for myself what kind of pockets will be best.
    Thanks Laura!

    Thank you for making a bag with top squared corners. I want to make bags for storing seasonal clothes & handbags. I’ll line them up side by side on the top shelf of my closet, SO PRETTY. I’ll quilt my pieces to give them more body and add small side handle loops to make it easier to handle them. That fabric is gorgeous plus what a wonder tip for cutting that fabric. Im a new sewer and have been looking for a practical useful project. Great Christmas gift idea as well💜

    • @teagan_p_999
      @teagan_p_999 Год назад +1

      I add inner pockets by cutting additional strips of fabric, finishing the edges, and sewing them to the bottom of the lining pieces after the corners are cut but before any of the pieces are sewn together.
      I add a strap by sewing little loops of strap material with D rings into the top corners when they get sewn together, then clipping a longer strap on to the outside when the bag is complete.

    What a lovely lot of materials making a great knitting bag flower, but if your daughter is anything like me, a set of handles needed for when our knitting becomes portable and goes where we go. I love all crafts because i was lucky enough to have a wonderful and talented lady called my mum, who taught me everything and of course the proper way to finish things off. The closing of the last hole would be the only thing that mum would have done differently from yourself, but it is so nice to see someone take such a keen need for things not just to be purposeful, but for them to be finished properly inside and out. Your daughter is a very lucky young lady to have such a talented person in her life to call mum. Thank you flower for a great video on a decent size bag/ Crafty hugs from Norah, Central Scotland
