Jetting the 2021 Beta 200rr with incredible improvement!!

  • Wow, some basic minor jetting adjustments really woke up this bike! Remember I'm running Avgas which makes it run a slight bit richer usually one size, so going one size leaner just to start. I still need to do some fine tuning, but this really made a huge difference. Don't be afraid to move 2 jet sizes either way to see how it acts as you learn the art.

    Just tried these settings UK sea level 6C bike ran well to lean rattling . I had to go back and bin the test run as it began to overheat ! Im running an RKTek insert so think mine prefers a tad richer. Still I had to give it a go

      Yes run richer with the RK Tek head and make sure your running the octane the head is designed for and it should do well.

    So riddle me this on the oil injection for the 200. If you lean out the bike with jetting, aren't you then over oiling because the oil is sent via a TPS. For instance at idle it's meetering the same amount of oil regardless how much fuel you are feeding it through the pilot? I've been struggling with smoking and installed the JD Jet kit and didn't have much effect on the amount of smoke with a 38 pilot in it. Dealer changed the pump and tested new one and said it is getting correct amount of oil with the flow test at various throttle positions. I'll be deleting the oil injection next to solve this problem. Some folks have mentioned that it doesn't happen when they have a track at their house because you aren't shaking oil out of the line bouncing the bike around in transit which supposedly causes pooling that has to be burned off when you cold start the bike. I guess more oil is better than not enough, but I'll take my chances the pre-mix for while and then jet for performance.

    • @TepcoCycleRepair
      @TepcoCycleRepair  3 года назад +1

      Ok a lot to go over here. So first, yes the same amount of oil no matter what jetting is. It's at about 100:1 at idle so no not over oiling. Smoking at cold start is because the engine isn't up to temp to complete the burn as well.as extra oil in the crankcase from the gas evaporating. As far as your bike smoking, it could be the oil you're using. You need different oil for trail then wide open MX. For instance, Maxima 927 in the trail would make a mess, Maxima Super M would be better. Amsoil Dominator in the trail would make a mess, Amsoil Interceptor (what I use) would be perfect. Also your smoking could be from a right crank seal leaking as Beta has had some issues. I'll be doing a fine tuning video with the jetting to show what to look for.

      @@TepcoCycleRepair well I’m using the motul injection oil that came with bike. Maybe another would be better. Not loosing anything measurable from crank case. Oil runs down pipe while riding, so worse while cold but still not right

      @@StoneyWV There are a couple different levels of Motul some for trails some for race I dumped mine and used the Amsoil interceptor. Some people were complaining the Motul wasn't burning completely.and leaving a mess. I understand, I really liked it, but I wish it had more torque. I was getting stuck on several short run up climbs. If I rode different terrain I would have kept it. It's a great bike, probably the most nimble bike I've owned, you'll love it.

      Both are great bikes, if you are coming up from a smaller cc bike the 150 would be good. If you're coming off a larger cc bike the 200 will have more low end torque. I will say if you're looking for more parts and easier availability it will be the KTM.

    Nice video. I have the same bike as you with similar issues as others in the comments section. Lowered the needle which seemed to help, then went to a 42 pilot jet which did not help. Bike bogged with any throttle and barely ran on idle. Went back to stock pilot and it runs fine but still fouling fairly often. Gonna check/adjust float height next. Probably try the jet combo you suggested because it looks and sounds like you have it dialed in. Did you make any air or fuel screw adjustments? Have you changed any sprockets? I am finding 13 and 52 are working well for single track woods riding.

      Yes I turned the air screw just until the rpm stopped rising. I think I'm at 1.75 turns. I will be dropping a front sprocket size to a 14 to start. Make sure your float height is correct, and make sure you're using a trail oil.

      I'm in NC hot and stupid humid! Not sure what oil you are using and how you ride but if you trail ride, slower stuff, use either Amsoil Interceptor or motul 710. If you're fast and on the pipe a lot, try Amsoil Dominator or motul 800. Sometimes the only thing you need is the right oil for your style of riding. Oh and if you removed the OI, Amsoil Saber is awesome stuff, used it for years in my other non oil injected bikes, it's pre mix only.

The dealer said they purposly added some pre mix in the gas for break in process. Gas is alost done thankfully. Intending on running sunoco 110 leaded no ethanol in it. They did not even give me any extra jets or needles with the purchase of bike. My game plan is fill it up with the sunoco taks it out to the woods , immidiatly order jetts. And then when they arrive bike should have at leaast a few hours on it by then. Any other sugvestions to do in mean time like raise idle, or air screw ?

    • @TepcoCycleRepair

      If you're going to run 110 and want to get the most out of the engine, get a head to match the octane Frome somewhere like RK tec. Or if you want to keep the stock head, I would just run non ethanol pump 94. As far as your mixture screw, it would depend on temps, altitude. Just slowly turn it in and out for the highest idle. If it's not changing when you're turning it. You need a different size pilot.
