    Yes, you can absolutely make your own jump rings out of wire. We have a couple of videos for it here: "How to Use Beadalon's Jump Ring Maker" and "How to Make Jump Rings with Wubber Bail Making Jewelry Pliers". They key is a really good pair of flush cutters and a solid, perfectly round surface to wrap the wire around.

    Thank you for your video request. We can put it on our list, but because it is so specific, I am not sure if we will be able to make it. We try to create more technique vs. project videos. When we do specific project videos it is because we either have had multiple requests for it or it is to match a project we have made on our website. In the past, I have seen tutorials on making a teddy bear and I believe they use right angle weave. Perhaps a google search will show you one already made.

    hi, is it possible to make our own "jump ring" (the little rounds ones) out of wire? i tired but it ended up looking either tear-drop shaped or just plain ugly. Is it possible to make a prefect round with using our wires? Please reply! Im a huge recent fan of your channel! :D

    Exactly what I needed to watch. I have a book but it is easier for me to watch someone do it first. I have a question but as this was a while ago, I accept I may not get a reply. In my book, it warns about not hammering the link/loop part as it will weaken them, only hammer main body. Here, you happily did hammer the link/loop so I wonder why the differing instructions? Tfs, great tutorial, will be saving for future "go to"! C😊

      inspiredcaroline24 Hi, I think everyone has a different way of doing things, which is part of the fun of jewelry making. Personally I felt the need to work harden the loop a little since it will be getting the most wear and potential
      stress. I would worry that the loop would lose shape if I did not harden it to some degree. I hope this helps.

      Beadaholique Thanks so much for replying. Yes, it really helps. I was thinking the same about hardening the loop due to wanting it to stay in shape. Of course, as I'm new I hadn't thought of stress it's put under too. I meant to say, your example finished piece is gorgeous. Hope I can make something soon. Thanks again. C😊

    Would you ever hammer a jump ring, for instance in a chain where you were connecting two links that you have chased, as in the video?

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  8 лет назад +1

      +Bruce Smith You could hammer a jump ring if you wanted to. If you do, you will be work hardening it which could make it difficult to open and close.

    Very nice. Thanks for sharing.
    What is the name of this chain please?

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  8 лет назад

      +Skylightatdusk This was a chain design that I made up. I guess it is closest to a link and connector chain where you make individual little links and then connect them together with jump rings. In this type of chain a link can really be anything. The necklace itself is called the Ambrosia Necklace www.beadaholique.com/t-ba-project-N679.aspx?RUclips&

    Can you use a regular hammer or is that not advised?

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  7 лет назад +1

      If you just have one or two links or clasps to make you can use a regular hammer in a pinch but if you're making a chain I'd recommend the chasing hammer. With the regular hammer you'll have to work slowly and carefully to hit your pieces with the center of the head so the edges don't leave dent marks in the metal. The slightly domed head of the chasing hammer helps avoid dents. It's an easier tool for a beginner than a regular hammer.

    what do you do if you don't have the hammer

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  9 лет назад

      tbkk100 If you don't have a hammer, you will not be able to work harden your wire. If your wire is thick enough, you might still be okay for awhile but eventually your wire clasp might bend out of shape. If you plan to make a number of jewelry components, a hammer would be a good purchase.

      Beadaholique Is it Ok to use a regular hammer that has a flat end?

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  9 лет назад

      Amber Holway You can attempt with a regular hammer but if the head is at all pitted, it might mar the metal. I would suggest experimenting with some inexpensive metal first in case it does not work.
