If you combine these ideas of religiosity with those of Jung and Peterson. I think you get something like, religiosity Peterson described the advantage to adopting a belief system and he decribes the situations in which those advantages would needed.

To state the obvious: The amount of people killing and dying for a particular religion at a given point in time is not related to the content of the holy texts - yes true. But: it is directly related to the content of the interpretation of those texts by religious authorities / preachers at a point in time. The crusades did not start because someone edited the bible, but because at that time the pope and his minions interpreted the text that way. The crusades certainly did not start because the knights felt discriminated, disadvantaged, threatend or anything of the kind.
