Tip. If you think it's too hard just slow it down then listen, don't look and the cross overs, when you do them never switch the pattern of your hands(as in keep playing the way you were alternating) if you try to switch which hand you use by which side it's on you'll screw up.
Dont let it stop you... Set your own goals... Recprd your playing once a months, and start comparing yourself to how you played 6 months ago... This is how i stoppes hating My level, and gained motivation and abilities.
Honestly you probably doubt yourself too much all it is, is basically rudiments play at a faster tempo only thing I could suggest is working on technique
Also, two things i realized watching this video: 1. This video has > 6 million views 2. Playing like that in front of Jersey Surfs busses is a weird flex but ok
This helped me learn a lot more how to do a drum line solo in in 6th grade band and I rlly need to see vids like this and I don't want help from anyone I need the help so I can be ready to beat the drums like I was doing it since I was in my moms belly!!!!
@DECLAN DOUGAN that doesn’t really matter lol. you know that music composition goes into score as well. a line could super clean but still get a low score. ex: cadets for the past 6 years lol, piss clean but low score
@@WilliamBottka this was not a response to the OP, it was to someone who left a comment saying degrading bluecoats because they got 4th in drums. But if you feel otherwise that this line isn’t one of the cleanest, than i beg to differ
@@WilliamBottka just look at the cadets 2013-16 era man. Those guys are monsters but of course the percussion score takes in composition score and they usually have poor composition for front ensemble. I would say 17-18 was way better than 19. 19 was just…too much and too much doesn’t always equate to good.
@@legolas_ I agree. I can’t get into anything past 2017. Don’t get me wrong, they’re still a good line and drum well but I think the show designs haven’t been intriguing for me.
I'd say the era was 2010-2014. 2009 had many holdovers from the McIntosh years and the 2009 rookouts gave off a McIntosh era vibe even though they didn't march with Bluecoats in that era. 2015 was a transitionary year, with some members like Devon Koning being emblematic of the early 2010s vibe and some members like Kyle Tsuchiya being emblematic of the late 2010s vibe. The core members of the era were mostly born from 1989-1995.
Nick Lawver That’s a monster tenor line. Rue Nani, Onye, Colin Whitecomb (who was on BD 2014), and I don’t know who the other guy is but he’s insane too.
I gotta give it to the quads here. Insanely clean and difficult part too, and only like one guy cheered for them. This is what the world of drumlines has come to i feel. Look at a coats video from 2012 to 2015 or so and the quads simply dont get enough love.
Interestingly, this video seems to have gone viral in Indonesia and India. Over the past year, 19% of views came from Indonesia and 18% came from India... while only 10% came from the US. Awesome to see DCI getting more and more popular over there!
How do the Tenors/Quads play so fast? I'm also thinking about choosing the Tenors/Quads for next year in my school for marching band. Should I? Or is it too hard? Plzzzz help :(
stick control. u just need to practice a lot and get to the feel w the stickings and rudiments such as diddles, singles, flams etc. and u also need to git gud at crossovers but its all just practice really
+PaulDuhTaco You can do it! Your high school music won't be anywhere near as hard as this, but you will still need to be dedicated. As long as you put forth good effort, I'm sure you can.
you know what, i think you're right. I'm getting confused because this year's xylo player is the same as Angels and Demons, but I don't see him in any 2012 videos. sorry about that. i need to look again, i think i'm just remembering things horribly wrong...
I really want to start playing the quads/quints but I don't want to buy the actual drums. I think my best bet so far would be a tenor pad or something? Any thoughts?
I've watched this like 6 times!! BTW...I don't really keep up with this sort of thing, but are those the same guys from last year's line/ Did anyone age out?
1:16 is pure talent the coordination with the snare players with the quads and bass backing it up sounds amazing
and tuning
This gives a whole new meaning to look at the flick of the wrist. This drumline is on point

So cool!
My friend was in marching band when we were in high school and I always loved watching!!!
It always got the crowd pumped!!
Yeah this isn’t high school bud.
What those snares starting doing @1:19 is soooo smooth to me lol. Amazing!

They'll probably incorporate the original tenor solo for another section
Hi,
This is a nice combination of beats and nice game of timing.
Good one
So much talent and fantastic coordination i like it 👍
I love toms, snares and bass. I guess everything.
WOW IT'S AWESOME ... I've never seen something so perfect and so co-ordinated ... It deserves a little hand up ... ALL BECAUSE IT'S INCREDIBLE

I guess hitting rims and you move across the drums doesn't count as not being clean.
John Smith what do you play
John Smith because yes the others are clean but the tenors are probably the hardest instrument in percussion to not mess up on
Darien Turner I play on tenors it’s pretty easy
Just realized they used a part in this for their 2016 opener
Fellas. Y’all the first drum line I seen since Peach County that’s had y’alls shit together. Congratulations.
