- A parish council meeting that featured furious exchanges and councillors being thrown off a Zoom call has become an online hit after being shared by millions of people.
The Handforth parish council meeting, which took place in Cheshire on December 10, delighted viewers as both an insight into the entitlement that comes with a small amount of power and the chaos inherent in meetings on video calls.
Jackie Weaver, who hosted the call, became an internet celebrity whose name was the first in Twitter’s list of trending topics this morning.
Mr Tolver refused to recognise the legitimacy of both meetings
He told meeting clerk Jackie Weaver, from the Cheshire Association of Local Councils, to "stop talking" and "you have no authority here".
In response, Jackie Weaver removed Mr Tolver from the Zoom call and placed him in a virtual waiting room.
Following Mr Tolver's eviction, vice-chair Aled Brewerton, joined by an older unnamed gentleman, proceeded to yell at Ms Weaver to "read the standing orders"

Some people just want to watch the world burn. Aled desperately trying to maintain order threatening subpoenas against everyone is just the funniest. What court in the fucking land is even going to take him seriously?? Its not for him to subpoena anyone - given his lack of legal authority in all respects haha!

Subpoena - I believe he's saying, legal document
A subpoena is a legal document ordering a person to attend court. The very notion of Aled threatening subpoenas is just hilariously ridiculous. For starters, in the UK the term subpoena isn't used in the UK anymore - the official term is a 'witness summons' and it can only be issued by a Judge or senior Magistrate. The very fact Aled is threatening such documents, when he has ZERO legal authority is absolutely hilarious. It makes me wish I was there to just laugh at him.
