So the average American family has been shrinking for the years. From four in the 60s to around three now. But the vehicles keep growing. This seats seven. Marketing really works apparently, as people keep buying these big people haulers when they actually don’t need them.
Americans idealize having more than they need. Look at the millionaire/billionaire corporate class. All the property, all the food, all the companies, all the money, all the space - and those at the bottom idolize that behavior. This vehicle is the perfect symbol for that - all this faux prestige shell on unreliable, cheap junk.
Growing up in a family of 4 I can say that these 3 row SUVs are the perfect family car Pretty good towing Good interior space Ability to put 1 kid in the 3rd row
Not everyone who has a three person family buys a seven passenger vehicle. If they did, every vehicle would have seven passengers. My family has six and needs a six-seven passenger vehicle.
@motorweek I'm not sure about if it's all markets, but your episode this week has no voice audio, all music and ambient sounds only at least in the SF Bay area PBS video. Someone messed up the audio tracks big time somewhere!
@@user1989fopfrs7 If you Americans KNEW how to take care of your car.. maybe a Hyundai WOULD last just like a toyota.. but NO. It's YOUR problem, not theirs.
The Subaru Ascent did 0-60 in 7.3 and and was "slow" while this Palisade did 7.6 and was "respectable?" And how long until the transmission gives out? Mine went out at 65k. And now it's worth nothing.
so, doesnt a Tahoe get the same MPG? Its a lame edition.. looks like styling cues from Lexus a few years ago. I dont mind blacked out chrome and such if done tastefully (as John used to say it looks European) but black just for blacks sake... this is over done in my opinion but Id never buy a large SUV/CUV anyways. Im not a fan of dark rims either unless theres a bright wheel lip to break it up some
I just spent 2 weeks in an i30, it was exactly what I expected from Hyundai and why I continue to dislike their products, they still have a ways to go to catch Honda or Toyota, all they can still offer is a lot of features for less money, but there's a good reason they're always less money...
@ chassis, suspension, powertrain, interior, pretty much everything still lags. The chassis shuddered over hard bumps, the transmission never knew what gear it wanted to be in and the throttle was either in sore motion or full tilt boogie, the entertainment system couldn’t decide between radio, and CarPlay, the seats were horrendously unsupportive.
Pile of JUNK
the 3.8l engine doesnt really have major problems, but the transmission might be rough after only 100k miles
3.8 l Is a Great Choice….Good Job Hyundai
junk
I have it and I love it! Was the best option for our family needs.
that’s sad
Nice to see black finally getting some respect 😂
Why did they film this night edition in broad daylight?
Hyundai and Kia are decisive as ever. People who have owned Hyndai and Kia products don't exactly love the brand.
After my first KIA, I will never own anything else.

@ I think he means family of 5 people
When you're a person with family AND friends living a active life you need it . When you have no friends buy a used spark and don't go anywhere.

welcome to the night edition, i can barely see the front grille. but the next-gen is coming soon.
should call it the trash edition

Which set does the test driver rep?
Looks good in Abyss Black.
No puny turbo charged 4 cylinder like in the Sante fe 👍🏾
it’s a puny v-6 that blows up and catches fires and does t make 300hp
The show now airing on KQED+ ch710 in San Francisco area S44 Ep 15 has no voice over commentary. Fyi Only music and background sound.
@@erickwan8484 thanks for letting us know! We’ll investigate to see why that might have happened. Sorry for the inconvenience!
@@Motorweekwhen can you review the all-new traverse RS AWD
It's bad enough with the black wheel trend which looks old fast, but the excessive black plastic trend is ugly and makes it look like the base model.
AWESOME, What Christmas gift that would be for me. Thank you for another great video.
Looks a mess

@@Butchcub75 this gets 19/21/24 in AWD
Tahoe AWD in premier 5.3 or high country with 6.2 get 15/17/20, terrible take
@ considering how more capable a Tahoe is , I’ll take the 4 mpg deficit. And 24 sucks ass too
It might be possible to find an uglier vehicle, but it’s going to take some lookin’
