A Chinese influencer, who is also a full-time NVH engineer, conducted an NVH test on this. It recorded a 2.2 dB lower result than the Mercedes S680 when running at 120 km/h (~75 mph) (61.1 dB compared to 63.3 dB). That means it's noticeably quieter than the Mercedes S680 when driving on the highway. Really impressive.
I have been inside one of these in Shenzhen, and let me tell you, this video does not make it justice. You have to see it and then get back to Europe, and you feel you stepped into a time machine. Yes, the look is not for everyone, but the overall package? 5 stars!!!
I've ridden inside a Li Auto L9 (I'm a Brit who lives/works in China) on long road trips (Hangzhou to Wuhan and back) They're seriously plush and comfortable inside. The most comfortable car I ever sat in. On the way back, we took a 2023 Maybach GLS, and a 2022 BMW X5 40li. After 30 mins of sitting in the X5s rear seats, I immediately wanted to jump out. No adjustments. No massage. Space isn't all that impressive. The GLS was more comfortable, but the interior quality (build & materials) was poor. The infotainment system was the same one they used in the A-class. Uses a very cheap low quality screen that Mercedes bought from a low-end Chinese supplier. In the Li-auto, rear passengers can almost fully recline their seats. Seats genuinely make you feel like you're floating in a cloud. They come with massage, ventilation, and heating. The infotainment system is designed inhouse, using their own software and AI system. The screens are some of the best in the entire auto industry, with high res, OLED displays. The the ride of the Li-auto with its air suspension is incredibly graceful and comforting.
This is an example of why America and Europe are putting high tariffs on Chinese vehicles they know their technology is 10 years behind and they are scared.
They're terrified. Luckily in Australia we get to have all kinds of cars, including amazing Chinese cars which are now better than anything being made by Tesla or Hyundai
Well, that and their incoming leadership is full of racist morons who probably know full well that the tariff's are only going to bleed their own citizens dryer. They're probably hoping it will motivate US customers to buy US made (Like from the drone company the orange clown's son has just bought a massive slice of, right as DJI faces bans in favor of the single US owned consumer grade drone supplier), but they're ignoring that US made now in many cases means Second Rate, and customers rejected it already.
Found nothing better than my Citroen c8. Sharan can’t remove the seats individually to accommodate like 3 passengers and 3 bikes inside, or 4 seats and a bed, or just 2 seats and big bed… VW multi van is out of my budget and far less confortable (no back windows, no sunroofs, no individual seats…) SUVs are so lame, they suck at everything, i can’t believe they sold so many. I guess tv ads works…
Ah yes, my old lovely job pre-GFC. Here's how you get there: -Those fluffy windscreens do a lot of work... -But the mic HAS to be an omni. Never buy cardiod. -You have to set the transmitter to -20db for this kind of wind. (Same for heavy traffic, or if you are in a noisy helicopter etc.)
i am german. living in china. i drive a 700hp hybrid SUV and the new 750hp xiaomi su7 max which is so far beyond anything i have ever driven besides tesla. car manufacturer all over the world can pack up and go home - they got NOTHING! its actually sad how amazing these new gen cars are.
except they are crapp at safety and reliability and they steal all your private data to make the govn even more powerful in controlling people. no thanks.
Firstly, The yanks need to sock it with the Yellow Peril and show some Humility, much like thr japanese auto domination of the 70s-2000s. The closest thing to an EV minivan in the US is the ageing Chrysler Pacifica PHEV (not sold in Europe btw) or the KIA EV9 or the unfortunate ID BUZZ which Volkswagen frankly spoiled really badly. As much as Europeans don't get the Chrysler Pacifica, what the yanks don't get is the Citroën ëBerlingo or ëSpacetourer vans the later could seat up to 9 people despite Stellantis easily having the option to badge swap them into Chryslers or Dodges, but instead they put all their eggs into the Alfa-Romeo Tonale/DodgeDart PHEV luxury performance SUV... And the best VW could muster is 50 grand for 5 seats in the SWB IDBUZZ and an extra 10 grand for the extra 3rd row bench in LWB form, the US doesn't get the SWB. It's not hard to understand the sticky trap most western automakers have put themselves in while China is absolutely running rings around everybody, a bunch of political protectionist tariffs will save face for nobody.
Really? Why not simply build hatchbacks and be done with it. With a hydrogen fuel cell, of course. You can then reduce your strategic reliance on Chinese batteries. The West is going to be slightly concerned "you're" supporting the Chinese economy. Considering China seems to have no issues in subsidising their car industry in order to undercut locally built car prices in US or Europe then it seems to be poor foreign policy to help China's bottom line. Plus there are many thousands of Chinese cars sitting in compounds which nobody is that keen to buy. Rumour is that some cars have been sitting in Euro car compounds for getting on for two years ... and yet the Chinese continue to deliver even more cars by the boatload. What sort of economic sense does that make? Heavy discounting and dreadful fines in UK for not selling EVs are not going to persuade the UK public to buy what are still expensive cars with expensive insurance premiums and the "lottery" of charging batteries. If the current Government wants a second term then would suggest trying to force UK car buyers to migrate to BEVs is not exactly a vote winner. In short it's a bit of a buggers' muddle and it's the consumers who will pay for it ... nothing new there then ...
Ever since I saw the first gen Renault Espace, back in 1986 when I was 13 years old, I have adored the high-speed train look of properly made MPVs - so much more elegant, sophisticated and functional than the military-truck-look SUVs. And I never saw the point in making a 7-seater SUV, when any 7-seater MPV is superior in every measurable way. Aero FTW! And can we please stop calling MPVs "minivans"? A minivan is a commercial vehicle that also are available as a people-carrier (think Toyota Hiace, VW Caravelle) - a MPV is a car with a more rational layout and efficeint use of space.
I have a few more years behind me than you... (Dammit!). The Espace was released at a time when I had seven and ten year old kids... I instantly fell in love with it. Sadly I never saw one in New Zealand, and if I had, it would have been WAAYYY beyond my budget! Love the concept... these days my choice is more likely to be influenced by how well it will fit into the skinny garage at an old-farts retirement village!
Minivans were coined that term because the first MPV; the Dodge Caravan was literally a miniature van. It had van proportions with a sliding door commonly found in vans, just car-sized and had family-first design elements. The VW Caravelle is a minivan, but the Toyota Hiace is more of a microbus/minibus.
I quite enjoy watching new people check out these cars with amazement and point out again all the incredible things you don't get in Europe. Having reviewed this on my own channel only, what, 10 months ago, and having since reviewed other spectacular shape shifters like the XPeng X9, Zeekr 009 and Zeekr MIX, it's much more difficult to remember how good these cars really are because they're the norm here. Of course if you'd like to be ahead of the curve on China stuff, you're all very welcome to check us out. 😉
Renault stopped making them because they were not selling. They made this because its cheap body shape, cheap way to put in more batteries, cheap way to add seats, and they didnt even bother making it look good. Its ugly, and although he sits with his leg up like the king in the back seat you can clearly see the seat behind has no leg room because of it. You can do that in a lot of European cars right now, but they would point out to you right away that it restricts legroom for the back. See EU/USA cars are held to a level this car never will be. Even plastic that feels scratchy is unacceptable in a renault espace anymore. If we told renault that the EU will cover their losses like the govt of china covers the losses for these stupid companies, then the renault espace they would make would make this thing look like a golf cart. We all know this, and need to stop pretending.
Has everyone just forgotten about the Citroën C4 Picasso? Has anyone not asked the overpaid executive geniuses at Stellantis to why there hasn't been any hybrid of fully electric R&D for the Picasso which is frankly among Citroën's strongest sellers?
I've owned my E-Berlingo Feel XL (7 seats) for about 3 weeks. We don't (or plan to) have have kids, so this about commuting, shopping, and MTB weekends. The Berlingo/Partner has been in production since 1996 and is still basically the same vehicle because it's very good at what it does. I feel like Stellantis could sell more Berlingos if they bothered to market it. Mine is a pre-facelift pre-registered model, so only 50KWh battery (46 usable) rather than the facelift's 52KWh, but mine was 30% off list and available immediately so happy days. On the other hand the e-Spacetourer now has a 75KWh option. Why is 75KWh not the standard pack in a long wheelbase Berlingo?
I think Western car manufacturers, by artificially lagging EV adoption for some 20 years, made a proper self goal or even headshoot. Imagine if some 20 years ago car producers got GE, Bosch, Siemens and other engineering powerhouses of those times to go full in.
@@eleycki Those cars are too complicated therefore too expensive as well. Not to mention you have to produce and deliver the fuel around the world. Electricity is everywhere. Zero carbon fuel cars will never be able to compete with production cost if cybercab, $15.000
@@eleycki There's no such thing as a zero carbon fuel. Any liquid fuel that doesn't come out of the ground has more embedded carbon than fossil fuel does. Electric is the lowest carbon fuel source available, it's just the oil companies can't profit from it, so they're inventing ways to keep selling fuels to burn, and green washing them as the future, which they aren't.
@ i disagree. That is a very first-world western view! The quantum of infrastructure needed for electric is huge and not at all global. Zero carbon fuel is a straight swap for petrol and then all issues are solved! The issue is also solved for the third world where they rely completely on petrol and will for generations due to using older simpler vehicles.
ignoring the bot reply it is clear you are 100% spot on and a lot of this tech is western to start with and we sat on here and china used cash to develop it. Some people including many legacy companies donlt understand the tech is nowhere yet mature. a base small car in 2030 with a new battery I think will be min charging 150-200kw which is for a 50kwh battery if thats small more than good enough !
You speak of range, and trying to increase it.. in china, there are ultra rapid chargers everywhere that just work ,so nobody suffers from range anxiety
You don't have to go to china for that... Germany has a good coverage of reliable 300kW chargers today. Always weird to see Brits complain about their charging infrastructure.
Oh, is this the reason there are so many EV fires in china, which the government desperately is trying to hide? Or are they burning down without the help of those chargers? I mean you can’t even use their restricted internet, because everything is censored. If you mention the Tian’anmen square massacre it’s absolutely silence or you are blocked..
@@kooooons Our infrastructure is pretty good now (although it'll need to keep growing to match EV sales), and 300 miles is a long way in the UK. At least, so long as you can charge at home.
@malfunction8165 Rapid charging isn't that Problematic. Having the battery below 80% will easily overcompensate usual rapid charging, but apart from that: Having the option to rapid charge doesn't enforce rapid charging.
I've got an idea for manufacturers! How about you take out all the touchscreens, the heated seats, the cameras etc and start making some simple, affordable and reliable EV family vans / MPVs.
Because nobody would buy them. They do actually do research, you know. Hence the Model Y, with all those touchscreens, heated seats and cameras that you seemingly hate so much, was the best selling car (not just EV, but car) in the world for a while. It’s what people want. Simple as that.
Can’t wait for more Chinese EV’s to make it to the UK. They can make cars, better in every way vs the competition. So fed up of the only options for EV’s in the uk being overpriced and under performing European, Japanese or crazy racist tech billionaire owned car companies. The MPV is the ultimate family format (if an estate doesn’t work). SUV’s are dumb. The UK needs to stop import taxes on Chinese EV’s, increase import taxes on ICE cars and give us the ability to buy affordable, decent Chinese EV’s.
A cynic might expect the - very influential - European car industry to have a view about that. Tariffs. Quotas. That sort of thing. Like when the Japanese imported in the 70's.
With no car industry in Australia to protect any more and proximity to China, we are getting them all here... MG and BYD are selling like hot cakes and 2025 is going to be the year of Zeekr, Xpeng, Nio etc etc... exciting times!
It looks like a 'super sized' up Prius. I imagine it would make a great taxi. It's the the old Buick VistaCruiser brought back for the 21st century. I do wish Jack would remind people that he's 6'6" tall (that's almost 2 metres for the more progressive parts of the world, i.e. everywhere except the USA) as he makes almost any vehicle look lower than it is.
Did anyone notice that when Jack was talking in the car, the car was driving on a bad country road with puddles, but the car was as quiet as an empty movie theater. The sound insulation level of Li Mega is top-notch. Under the same test conditions, whether in the laboratory or in the real road environment, Li is more than one level quieter than Maybach S680, both in terms of human perception and test data. This is amazing
You're spot-on! I've tested a few Chinese EVs, once you've closed the doors and windows, it's just mind-blowingly silent! Their sound proofing is superb!
The Li Mega isn't coming to the UK (probably). But will MPVs like the Denza D9 come to the UK? It's already available in right-hand drive and as it's BYD there will presumably be a ready dealer network.
@michaelleiper I hadn't seen the very latest (2024) iteration until you prompted me to look. It's hideous! A shame, because earlier models looked okay. I prefer the look of the Estima, personally
The Li Auto Inc market cap is 24.04 billion and growing every year, while the market capitalization of Volkswagen is 40 billion dollars, and Volkswagen can't afford Ideal anymore.
VW is struggling, but they have by far the biggest share of the European EV market (21.2% in 2024 so far). Read CleanTechnica's Europe EV Sales Report. What should terrify VW is delays in their next generation platforms: SSP to 2027/8, ID.4 successor to 2029!!, Trinity flagship to 2032!!!
Another car I designed in the late 80s... only took the world 35 years to catch up to the vision of a 13-year old who was excited by portable televisions and had never held a CD yet.
Would love to see a side by side drive and comparison between the Li Mega, Xpeng X9 and Zeekr 009, all of them just truly amazing MPV's not necessarily exclusive to family vans but also as luxury VIP vans.
This (finally) looks like the teenage me hoped future cars would look like back in the late 80:ies. BTW, I would love to see you do a review of the Zeekr MIX too!
8:25 Also, remember that aero coefficient numbers are relative to the size, so a small vehicle with a worse coefficient can still be more area that a large vehicle with a lower number - these values have to be taken with a pinch of salt.
I don't know how you're able to do that. As far as I know crossovers are increasing share of sales in all car markets. I wish it weren't so, but they're what most people buy.
MPVs are so much better than SUVs. I’ve never seen an SUV driver go “off roading” in my life which is what I guess people fantasize about themselves doing?
Profit margins to put it simply. Automakers make more money on each SUV/truck sold vs a smaller passenger car. SUVs also escape CAFE standards in the US. US automakers have also intentionally been eliminating or reducing sedans from their lineups. Just look at any major car manufacturer and you'll notice they'll all sell multiple truck, SUV, and "crossover" models, and maybe one four door sedan model, if any at all. Also the good old American minivan is largely an extinct species. Station wagons? Nobody makes those anymore.
It is a rather large and expensive ternary lithium battery though. What may be even more impressive are how fast the latest generation of cheaper LFP chemistry lithium packs are getting. Geely's 2nd generation "golden battery" just launched, including a smaller 75 kWh pack which can reach up to 380 kW peak charging rate, which is pretty insane for a medium sized LFP battery!
It's amazing kW, but it's a huge battery. A smaller battery would charge at lower power, but if the vehicle that it's in is more efficient you get back to similar miles of range added in 15 minutes. Presenter Jack and most EV journalists do not use the right units! Recharging power in kW and time to recharge 10-80% are interesting numbers, but what matters is how many miles of range you add per unit of time at each point in the charging curve. That's a graph, and Fully Charged's graphics department should add it to each video so we can pause and figure out what it will be like to fast charge the EV.
I love this demo and I love the EV. I want this EV. I believe the question about tariffs needs to be addressed to. A very good Chinese EV, I don't won't that to be taxed to death.
It's a post Citroen C4 Grand Picasso from 2008, especially the front windscreen... but I really like it! It would make an amazing airport taxi with the boot space or option to have the rear seats split.
I used to live at Cheddar when I was a kid (1960) so almost fell off my chair when I saw those wonderful limestone cliffs each side of the road.. I live in NZ now, and the gorge looks a lot busier now.
@@AJames-jr8kw I visited Singapore in June and 1.5 million of those people are workers from abroad. They are a tough on vaping - $10,000 fine. I was amazed to find English is their first language even though Chinese are the major population base. They supply most of NZs refined fuel, and have to rely on imported food mostly. Luckily NZ is good at making heaps of food for export.
I work for GM here in the US and been working in the EV space for about 2 years after spending close to a decade working on ICE cars. As much as I love engines and their rumbles, I am loving the advancements China EV makers are making in the battery thermal management and battery energy density sectors!! This Li Mega is a great minivan! We need EV minivans in the US!
Ah, think that was called a Previa over here. Must say it looks more Renault Espace III to me (but then: I had one;-) ). Totally agree on wishing to see an EV MPV though.
I until earlier this year had a 1994 Toyota emina lucida, and this li auto mega came out last year and I learned about it just as mine died.. It would be the perfect replacement, very similar lines. Mine was worth about £400 though, wish I could have afforded an electric conversion on it and it wouldn't have been that far off from this amazing car. Maybe I'll be able to get one in 20 years
@@bokusimondesu I still have mine parked on the drive.... Haven't driven it in years but can't bare to sell it... Took all my kids through school life...😍
Not really, it’s still unnecessarily big and heavy for what most families need. We shouldn’t have too many of these on the road. It’s just way more interesting than SUVs and crossovers. Also I feel minivans push the manufacturers to really be smart with space, think cubbies everywhere, optimising the engine and chassis layout to maximise internal space. I appreciate the thoughtfulness that goes into designing minivans like the Nissan Serena and Toyota Noah, two popular models where I live. I’d always prefer a small crossover or hatchback though.
Thanks for another excellent review, Jack, I find your presentation style highly watchable. As for the car, I reckon a shorter version with a range of trim levels to suit different budgets/needs could be a winner, as long as the techy bits were retained.
I always find it... erm... "odd" that car prices do something strange somewhere in the Indian Ocean. The price of a Chinese EV can double or more during the ship-ride from China to Europe.... So quoting prices in China is pointless.
It's kinda useful to get a feel for where it fits in (price-wise) in relation to other Chinese EVs... and which can then give us an indication of what it might cost to ship it over (if they have a UK / EU price, etc).
Well, I think the import tax for Chinese EV is 25% in the EU, don't know about the UK. But the US is set to become 100% import tax and they will thus be shipping through or building in Mexico, where US can't charge to high imports, because US brands also build in Mexico.
LEVC anounced their MPV model, the L380, in June, which comes in a 6 or 8 seater version, priced at around 38~48 thouands RMB. And Geely Commercial Vehicle Company has also launched the “幸福号”, which has 7 seat, priced at around 22~23 thouands RMB. Maybe those would be suit for taxi drivers too
In related news, Stam Fine recently reviewed Damnation Alley. LOL! Looking forward to EV design moving in this direction, without as many bells and whistles
Li auto as a grey import are so popular across CIS where some people even run the generator on CNG to make it even cheaper to run. For the screen you can hook up pretty much anything through a HDMI cable and power consoles with the plug in the boot, I've seen people playing switch, xbox and PlayStation in plenty of IG/Tiktok videos
Will it come with a free roof box? What's the point of having all that seating if you can't get that number of people's bags in. Could learn from i800 on boot space. Designing it with the rear seats also on sliders would help ...magic.
It really does resemble a Prius from not too long ago which has been upgraded. I have been hoping for a serious electric van ever since I drove a 1987 Toyota panel van. We are unlikely to see this in the US because idiots voted for Dr. Evil. Thanks for the teaser

Based on the average length of a car journey being 28 minutes in the UK, I think I’ll continue to encourage my kids to talk to each other and enjoy the journey. I’m not against tech, but dear me… 😅. This looks perfect for an airport taxi company.
it might look slippery but that big truncated rear-end will still give it a fairly high drag-area despite the teardropping of the roofline. That's where much of the 20% loss of energy consumption (compared to your datum 5 m/kWh Tesla benchmark) comes from...
Ignoring the fact most of us aren't interesting in driving around in the star ship Enterprise, how are these modern cars allowed to have screens showing video in full view of the driver?
I recently drove from Copenhagen to Jutland (Denmark). On my way my 4 year old but wonderful Kia e-Soul needed juice. I passed a motorway charging point with about 25 - 400 kWatt chargers... All where available :) I think you ought to have more chargers over there in UK. My car peaked at 55 kw. which the optimal in the winter :)
There are two 480kW chargers near Blackpool in the UK, that would have be interesting to see the Li Auto minivan charging at full rate. Atlhough, the Blackpool site is designed to service four cars charging at 240kW each. Most UK ultra-rapid chargers are located along major road arteries, there are about 6,700 currently increasing by 3,000 a year (most now being 350kW units that are being installed).
I think you should come to UK and have look how many rapid chargers are here! before making comments. I been to Denmark and not that great for charging
It's a little unfair comparing infrastructure in Denmark to infrastructure in the UK. The Poms are used to potholes and public poverty. I spent two weeks driving around the Lake District in an EV last summer. What a joke that was. Nothing works, not just EV charging! You work that out the minute you step out of the plane into one of their filthy airports.
I think these kind of videos are good for learning purposes only. Never in my life i would buy a chinese car but there are lessons to be learned from this and European car manufacturers should pay attention. Also i think minimalism is a thing of the past, artistically speaking it`s a tired old style.
I want my kids looking out the window, soaking up the world and engaged with it, striking up conversation about it… not plugged in to another attention-span-killing addictive screen.
US doing what manufacturers tell them with big vehicles is very strange. Just buy something pracitical instead of something that looks practical for driving over boulders but will never leave tarmac,
I love Vans and I fucking hate SUVs and pickup trucks. This thing is gorgeous. The only thing I would really change on it is get rid of those stupid fucking rear view mirrors that jut out the side. Really it's time to get rid of those stupid things
Since we have the V-Class as the only premium MPV in Europe I could see the Mega as a nice rival especially for Uber Exec, Addison Lee and similar services.
It's a great example how far has China moved the game on in the last few years and will keep on moving. The in car tech are no big news now as most big manufacturers have nailed it. Things like Ride quality and NVH are huge improvements.
Li Mega is a fantastic MPV. The driving and the comfort are amazing. This car is an outstanding piece of engineering and quality. I have one in Costa Rica, and I can say from day-to-day experience that Li Auto is as good or better than a BMW for less money. You probably would like to hear something negative from the car, but this brand goes beyond any other idea. Don't doubt about the quality and company support. Li is the best in class. The world is waiting for them to conquer more places with their cars.
I might just be old, but I despise consumerism. I want my vehicle to simply be a vehicle. That why we need tariffs and sanctions and s**t.
Found nothing better than my Citroen c8. Sharan can’t remove the seats individually to accommodate like 3 passengers and 3 bikes inside, or 4 seats and a bed, or just 2 seats and big bed…
VW multi van is out of my budget and far less confortable (no back windows, no sunroofs, no individual seats…)
SUVs are so lame, they suck at everything, i can’t believe they sold so many. I guess tv ads works…
Renault Vel Satis was an amazing car.
Closest you'd get in the EV world is the ID Buzz LWB right now. Not cheap though, and you have to deal with the awful computer system!
Applause to the audio team and the presenter! That end scene is blasting with high wind and very Clean and clear to hear! Crazy
Kudos to Jack. He's fully trained to stand in a hurricane reporting that it's windy on the tele now :)
Hear hear!
Wow. You're so right. That wind is going hard and his audio doesn't sound any different at all!
Ah yes, my old lovely job pre-GFC.
Here's how you get there:
-Those fluffy windscreens do a lot of work...
-But the mic HAS to be an omni. Never buy cardiod.
-You have to set the transmitter to -20db for this kind of wind. (Same for heavy traffic, or if you are in a noisy helicopter etc.)
Capcut has AI software that does it. They just use AI software
i am german. living in china. i drive a 700hp hybrid SUV and the new 750hp xiaomi su7 max which is so far beyond anything i have ever driven besides tesla. car manufacturer all over the world can pack up and go home - they got NOTHING!
its actually sad how amazing these new gen cars are.
except they are crapp at safety and reliability and they steal all your private data to make the govn even more powerful in controlling people. no thanks.
I hate SUVs. Love vans. Too bad this is a China only brand. Sad. The U.S. needs minivan EVs.
Whats more annoying is there are 5 ev pickups trucks now available. The id buzz is garbage
It isn't a china only brand .
It's in the middle east , Russia , west Asia ...
Bring back minivans!
Love your avatar.
@@AJames-jr8kw Thanks! It's a cartoon-version of my italian greyhound that I made in Illustrator, in the style of early Micky Mouse cartoons.
It will make a great taxi.
I have watched a number of your videos, including the 1 on this MPV, and found them informative. Keep up the good work.
So…. Basically they were like ‘So Renault can’t be bothered to make a true Espace anymore? Hold my croissant…. ‘
"Hold my noodles..."
hold my chopsitcks....
hold my croissant but with chopsticks
I would have thought 'spring roll' would be more apt?
Oh man, bring it back!
I did think in the 1st minute that this is the sort of weirdness Citroen would have given us in the 70s
To be honest, if I was PAS, I'd be tasking Citroen with just designing and producing EVs and EV skateboards for the rest of the group.
One of the most useful vehicles I’ve ever owned… replaced by another hateful SUV!
Check out the Zeeker Mix. That will be coming your way
Yeah it has a lot going for it. Revolutionary transforming (motorized) interior.
Love the front door, on the mix
Zeekr Mix is a funny 5-seater minivan though. But I'll prefer 009 as a true mpv.
It’s a 1999 Renault Espace bought into the 2020s
I agree I had 2 of them a 98 and 02 this looks just like them
I was indeed thinking: the offspring when a Espace III mated a Prius II
I’d say a stretched Renault Avantime
That is exactly what I was thinking!!
probably just as bad from technical point od view. I like the simple looks though
I think Western car manufacturers, by artificially lagging EV adoption for some 20 years, made a proper self goal or even headshoot. Imagine if some 20 years ago car producers got GE, Bosch, Siemens and other engineering powerhouses of those times to go full in.
@@kritasto2813 or maybe they are more sensible, developing the much better zero carbon fuel tech.
@@eleycki Those cars are too complicated therefore too expensive as well. Not to mention you have to produce and deliver the fuel around the world.
Electricity is everywhere. Zero carbon fuel cars will never be able to compete with production cost if cybercab, $15.000
@@eleycki
There's no such thing as a zero carbon fuel.
And a lot of knackered batteries from all that rapid charging.
@malfunction8165 Rapid charging isn't that Problematic. Having the battery below 80% will easily overcompensate usual rapid charging, but apart from that: Having the option to rapid charge doesn't enforce rapid charging.
I have to admit, I wasn’t expecting that coming! Totally surprised me.
I've got an idea for manufacturers! How about you take out all the touchscreens, the heated seats, the cameras etc and start making some simple, affordable and reliable EV family vans / MPVs.
no heated seats? Even though they are more efficient than normal heaters? Even tho everyone wants them? How about you stay silent
The had dozens of those in China made by multiple brands. Price ranging from around $16,000 up to near $100,000.
Because nobody would buy them.
They do actually do research, you know.
Hence the Model Y, with all those touchscreens, heated seats and cameras that you seemingly hate so much, was the best selling car (not just EV, but car) in the world for a while.
It’s what people want. Simple as that.
Don't take out the heated seats and heated steering wheels.

Ah yes instead of the "racist tech billionaire" let's give our money to the slave labour, sweatshop country with a literal dictator.
With no car industry in Australia to protect any more and proximity to China, we are getting them all here... MG and BYD are selling like hot cakes and 2025 is going to be the year of Zeekr, Xpeng, Nio etc etc... exciting times!

What a wonderful review. This is not selling well in China, but I think it would sell very well in other parts of the world. It's an amazing vehicle.
Li auto is doing great, but this MEGA is not, partially due to its exterior design, poor PR management, high price. but I love it
这款车在中国卖的不好的原因就是外观,因为他的外观看着像中国的棺材,所以没人选择,再加上中国可以选择的MPV车型太多了。

It looks like a 'super sized' up Prius. I imagine it would make a great taxi. It's the the old Buick VistaCruiser brought back for the 21st century. I do wish Jack would remind people that he's 6'6" tall (that's almost 2 metres for the more progressive parts of the world, i.e. everywhere except the USA) as he makes almost any vehicle look lower than it is.
Yes, does look like a taller Prius plus
@@philipgrice1026 Still use imperial here in UK. Feet and inches work better for measuring height I think, many other things too.
This feels like the future compared the VW ID Buzz. VW should have bought this company instead of wasting billions on their failed EV strategy.
I remember the concept id buzz being reviewed on here and it was beautiful, then they released a standard van with slightly softer edges.
The Li Auto Inc market cap is 24.04 billion and growing every year, while the market capitalization of Volkswagen is 40 billion dollars, and Volkswagen can't afford Ideal anymore.
Probably the VW do not have that much money...
Li auto is already making profits and does not need any investment.

Why do car manufacturers continue to tell us that we only want SUVs when I observe fewer and fewer people driving them lately?
I don't know how you're able to do that. As far as I know crossovers are increasing share of sales in all car markets. I wish it weren't so, but they're what most people buy.
@@skierpage Because lack of MPV choice!!
Really hope CATL's 5C battery will be made in the newly invested Battery Factory in Spain. Those charging specs are amazing.

Thanks to CATL's 5C battery. Wish EU automakers would use that and stop this tariff non sense

Maybe your best video, amazing vehicle and fantastic videography. That light at the end...!
I'm guessing a lot of Taxi drivers will be wanting to buy that.

I suspect you mean kW. :-)
@@xxwookey Thank you. YES.
I think these kind of videos are good for learning purposes only. Never in my life i would buy a chinese car but there are lessons to be learned from this and European car manufacturers should pay attention. Also i think minimalism is a thing of the past, artistically speaking it`s a tired old style.
Li Mega is insane
Fabulous car and a brilliant review, many thanks.
I understand the 'upsell' with AI...I want this vehicle even less. Not a chance. Icky.
You know a brit is really, *really* excited about something when he utters something like "very agreeable" 😀
Influenced by Bauhaus movement?
Or a combo of a Picasso and a Chrysler Voyager?
I want my kids looking out the window, soaking up the world and engaged with it, striking up conversation about it… not plugged in to another attention-span-killing addictive screen.
massive for a European.. Mid size for a north American
Americans on EV9: ”mid size” 🫤
British on EV9: ”it’s huuuuge big cars are ruining our roaaads” 🫨
In Sweden we are somewhere in between 😅
US doing what manufacturers tell them with big vehicles is very strange. Just buy something pracitical instead of something that looks practical for driving over boulders but will never leave tarmac,
Great review and agree with your conclusion re efficiency. I could do with simpler seats and it’s a winner!
I want one
It's a great example how far has China moved the game on in the last few years and will keep on moving.
The in car tech are no big news now as most big manufacturers have nailed it.
Things like Ride quality and NVH are huge improvements.
You're gonna pick up a lot of fares as a side hustle when it looks like a Taxi
Li Mega is a fantastic MPV. The driving and the comfort are amazing. This car is an outstanding piece of engineering and quality. I have one in Costa Rica, and I can say from day-to-day experience that Li Auto is as good or better than a BMW for less money. You probably would like to hear something negative from the car, but this brand goes beyond any other idea. Don't doubt about the quality and company support. Li is the best in class. The world is waiting for them to conquer more places with their cars.
😂Most Chinese won't buy it because it looks like a Chinese coffin from the back.😅
I might just be old, but I despise consumerism. I want my vehicle to simply be a vehicle. I don't want huge screens, I don't want AI, and I definitely don't want the car monitoring me to skim my personal data. This van could have been hundreds of kilograms lighter by getting rid of all the unnecessary luxury items, making it much more energy-efficient.
You are one of the 5%, max 10% of the buyers. Usually those that don't need luxury things don't buy a new car in their life. 90% of the people that go to the dealer with their wives buy all the extras. How many new cars did you buy in your life?
@@chrishar110 The luxury things are gimicks and its more like 50%, but the luxury buyers get catered to first, then the tech filfters down to be standard. AI is mainly a marketing thing, its a new teck thing to sell as they need to keep inventing new things to sell. Its not intelligence, it doesnt understand anything it does. Its all process.
This car is $72,000 in China This is a car for rich families . Not for the poor
Yeah, you want a lighter car that can be towed by the wind, making it a flying car, yet you don't have control of its direction. Western IQ really is top-notch. 😂😂😂
If you can pay less and get more, would you still prefer to pay more and get less?
Love it it's a VAN not another SUV. Li Mega looks like ultimate production VIP shuttle ❤❤❤.
Actually this is EV Hyundai Staria that Hyundai should be making for European market 😊😂
Jack great review 💪😍.
It's not a van, it's a people carrier
The only use for all these gadgets is to show your mates what it can do.
nothing changes.
Social/Emotional value is also value lol.
Car looks cool, but the presentation was perfect🎉
thanx for admitting the chinese are way ahead jack good lad.
Which must explain why very few people are that keen to buy them.
There are compounds near the ports in which can be found thousands and thousands of Chinese cars awaiting a buyer.
@@t1n4444 You watching and reading them western gutter rag papers again about China.
@@t1n4444 yes awaiting for europe and the rest of the world. take care mr gammon head.
@@t1n4444 china sells more E.Vs than anybody else in the world where have you been stevei wonder.
@grahambyrne8714
Hmm ... clearly you didn't quite understand the thrust of my argument.
Have another go at reading the post. See if you get it second time around.
In the near future, we have to learn Chinese to unlock all the features of our cars. 😂
Just what we need, more oversized, inefficient vehicles.
I would love to see you guys espousing the virtues of smaller, lightweight and spatially efficient vehicles. We don’t need heavy SUVs and minivans!
If it's full of people then it's the most efficient car you can get.
@ no. It is massive and has five seats ffs!
This is Jack, that's literally what he DOES in almost every video w/ a crossover/SUV to the point it almost seems like he forgets larger families still exist and actually want/need something bigger.
@@mastastealthmy point is not that everything has to be a micro two-seater, but this is an overinflated heavy beast. There are plenty of more intelligent ways to have 5, people transported, or to have these carry more than five rather than making them massive and therefore heavy for no reason.
@@eleycki
Did you even watch the video? It has 7 seats, as it's a people carrier. It's for people that need to move people. Don't need a big vehicle, then buy a small vehicle.
