I absolutely love my 2021 Palisade SEL with Premium Package. I wanted the bench seat which was difficult to find. Dealership found one in NC in white. I wish the limited came with bench seat. The bench seat was a must for me with grand children and car seats, the bench is more practical. Every Palisade owner I meet, really love theirs too! This trim turned out to be enough for me after all.

I bought a 2024 Palisade on Thursday - so glad I watched your review. I was super impressed with the ride and the interior. I “accidentally” bought the Calligraphy because it is just so so nice. Thank you for all your videos - I watched many in preparation for my big purchase. I test drove many cars and the Palisade outshone the Pilot (by far and I drove the Touring), the Ascent, the Grand Cherokee L, I was not able to see a Highlander or a Grand Highlander. The only thing that even came close was the Buick Enclave, but the exterior has a more “mature” look and I am not quite ready for an old lady car. Even found my Calligraphy in White. So happy.

Considering it's one of the least expensive in its class and the only one with a naturally aspirated V6, it would be at the top of my list if I were in the market for a big SUV. I think the grill is a bit much and I've never cared for the taillights, but otherwise, it's quite handsome.

Despite of its age, its availability of V6 is very appealing in this class of heavy vehicles. As brilliantly executed as Toyota's 2.4T in Highlander family, its still a 4-cylinder. A V6 is a V6, no matter how much more powerful, a turbo 4 cylinder has. CX-90's inline 6 turbo is even more appealing, especially with Mazda's excellent handling and class leading interior quality.

I agree on the bench seats! It’s aggravating that captain’s chairs are the only options on the upper trims. I bet for most people the rear seats stay down much of the time so a bench middle is nice. It’s also nicer if you are loading up the rear with a lot of stuff and want a flat floor in the cargo area. These are my favorite reviews!

  • @johnholst

^^ This. Some say it's a weight target and overall fleet issue depending on trim/features. I say, if so, engineer the vehicle so that parsing +/- 20 lb isn't going to break the bank. Regardless, I can't imagine that the nice features on the top trims weigh that much extra to be the difference if that's part of the issue.

Sienna for dog shows and Tacoma for hay (horses). I was thinking if I got the Palasades (spelling) I could get a little flat trailer to pick up the hay. No 2 vehicles, no two GEICO insurances.
My mom always said: when in doubt DO NOTHING.
That Sienna has really spoiled me. The room is phenomenal.

Great review! ++1 on the middle row bench comments.
My vote: not a fan of the Hyundai blingy and busy schnozz, so Telluride. But, ideally:
    - Telluride exterior and traditional shifter
    - Palisade interior (generally, but esp seats)
Btw, the Pathfinder also one of the few offering a middle row bench on all including the upper trims. (Have to check the boxes carefully). At least as of 2023, you can come close "to a top-trim middle bench vehicle"-95%-on the QX60 by checking all the otherwise top trim features on the next-to-top trim options. (I think only aniline leather and black roof cannot be optioned).

I’m going suggest that you may want to consider providing just the total combined legroom for all 3 rows on a 3 row SUV and front/rear legroom on 2 row’s rather than comparing each row individually. The total amount tells people how much total room they will have to apportion between the rows as they need to and it’s simpler.

After doing a bit of research, it looks like the 3.8l V6 engine is a bit old tech, and uses direct fuel injection. Hyundai has had carbon buildup issues in the past, and I might be wary of this engine over the long term. Interestingly, the Kia Carnival uses a 3.5l V6 with a similar power output, and that engine is equipped with the more modern combination of direct injection and port injection fuel systems. This is less likely to experience the carbon buildup of the past. I wonder if the next generation of Palisade/Telluride might evolve to the 3.5l engine. Jim in Woodstock ON

Really happy that Hyundai offers a hearty, smooth V6 with a baritone growl. Sure, the 4-cylinder competition "makes the power" but 4-cylinder turbo drivability never feels as serene as a V6, especially when constantly on-and-off the throttle in city driving. That said, we just brought home a 2024 Palisade XRT, as we have a great relationship with a local Hyundai dealer. This car is a bargain!

I said it before and I will say it again. I definitely think Hyundai and Kia are paying journalists for these ads that are supposedly reviews. They’re fine but not as great as the press makes them seem.

That 2024 Hyundai Palisade (the body is gray/dark gray in color and black front grille/black side hem, fenders + the rims are black. Wow!!!.
    👍🏼👌🏼😉
    Very good job, Hyundai. 🙂
But, when is coming V6 hybrid or more bigger turbocharger or electric supercharger plug-in hybrid engine model. 🤔

We purchased the Limited SEL Palisade and while I really love it, I found a flaw. Under the second row seat, installation and sliding of the seat up/back revealed torn carpet. Only having it a week, we returned to the dealership where they noticed the same torn carpet in all their palisades. Still waiting to hear a resolution from Hyundai. But overall, smooth ride, great room for pets in the back, and loving it my first month with it!

Glaring omission to exclude the new CX-90 from the comparison. Inline 6, more powerful, better fuel economy, and nicer interior. Plus available plug in hybrid.

BTW Andrea, I love your show. However, if one goes by exterior measurements it breaks down like this: Length Palisade 196.7". CX-90 201.6". Width 77.8" to 77.6". Height 68.9" to 68.2". SO at least exterior size wise they are very similar, with the biggest difference is the CX-90 being 5" longer. I will concede though that the Palisade, being a square box shape, has more listed interior leg and cargo room, although I am not certain that manufacturers use the same standardized methodology to measure these. @@andreaspencer9813

Have a look at the 8 class action lawsuits filed as recently as early this this year that Hyundai Kia continues to build substandard engines which are failing! These lawsuits are across the range of models and have been filed in US and Canada! My daughter in law who had dealer maintenance for life of car had engine failure after 65,000 miles and only after hiring attorney did the dealer admit Kia new of engine issues and then she got settlement. Great show as always and this is not your area of expertise but a big deal to consumers.!

9.7 litres/100km or 24 MPG on the highway is not good in 2023. Low HP and Torque for a 3.8 litre V6. Hyundai/Kia needs to step up their game on engine output and fuel efficiency. Otherwise, they have nailed the styling and features in their cars.

Yeah and he was a Toyota mechanic. I’d talk to some independent mechanics. They are familiar with that engine. Some of his complaints apply to Toyota and most other brands. There are some folks accumulating quite a bit of mileage on these vehicles with very few problems.

Again, I REALLY don't care if it doesn't come with power folding side mirrors. It's just another power item to fail down the road (especially in winter when things freeze) and its SO, SO easy to manually fold in the dang mirrors! Oh, manually folding mirrors are probably WAY cheaper too. Wireless Android auto would be more convenient.

You need to compare apples to apples: Lexus TX with GMC Denali. not Honda but Acura, not VW but Porsche, not Hyundai but Genesis or in your list the winner will always be the Lexus TX. Otherwise, it will be a manipulation of facts and hidden work for sponsors. Nevertheless, excellent work as always...

Not a fan of this one. Don't get me wrong, if I requested a large SUV from Hertz and they handed me this, I would drive it, no problem. However, in spite of higher trim levels, everything about this sucker is too basic for the price. The only one that has a choice of interior other than black, is the limited. And the features offered fall under the description of 'limited,' as well. Just not a vehicle I can see paying full price for, when I know everything about it feels like a standard base model. I think I've been spoiled by BMW.

You lose so much in luxury vehicle in the name of a badge. Now if you buy those same luxury brands Used and Certified then you get a good price to feature ratio
