Vitamin D and skin physiology: a D-lightful story.
    www.ncbi.nlm.ni...
“Throughout evolution, exposure to sunlight and the photosynthesis of vitamin D(3) in the skin has been critically important for the evolution of land vertebrates. During exposure to sunlight, the solar UVB photons with energies 290-315 nm are absorbed by 7-dehydrocholesterol in the skin and converted to previtamin D(3). “
Does Milk Really Contain Vitamin D?
    healthyeating.s...
“Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin, which means your body can store it in the liver and fat cells, that promotes the absorption of calcium, aids in neuromuscular function and supports the immune system. Failing to meet your daily needs affects the strength of your bones, a condition known as rickets in children and osteomalacia in adults.”
Lack of Vitamin D May Have Killed Mozart
    news.discovery....
“In his high-latitude home in Austria, Mozart was probably running low on the sunshine vitamin for half the year. That deficiency may have put the musician at risk for many of the illnesses he suffered from.”

Blood tests have shown that my D3 levels were deficient, so I started taking 1 caplet per day, and now my levels are at the normal place. Also, it has vastly improved my immune system because I never get sick again, and I'm no longer a mouth breather in the winter months, and my nose never leaks in the winter months. I occasionally stop taking D3 caplets while on vacation because of laziness, and within a week, I'm sick again. D3 really has helped me out a great deal in life. Also getting enough sun to form D3 is far from true because of the winter months, rainy weather, snowy weather, the shade under trees, spending most of the time indoors or outside at night, the latitude in which you live, and there are 3 types of UV light: UVA, UVB, and UVC; only one of which helps to produce D3. Also modern day humans are not outdoor creatures; we spent most time indoors. We aren't all like those Californians, who constantly sunbathe, damn Californians and their easy ass lifestyles.

i have a genetic vitamin d deficiency, inherited on my father's side through my grandmother. doesn't matter how much sun i get i have to take the pill. Especially in winter. I have seasonal depression, another sign of deficient vitamin d.
the good news is that you can have a blood test done to see if you're deficient. There's no need to worry or guess you can just call your doctor and say "can you check me for a vitamin d deficiency?" and they can say "sure, make an appointment and we'll talk."
and if you suffer from clinical depression especially seasonal symptoms ask your doctor to test you.

  • @SymonSays
    @SymonSays 8 лет назад +3

Depending on where you live you might not be able to convert sunlight into vitamin D for a good portion of the year. Studies vary, but in North America usually anywhere above 40' N (about San Francisco latitude) you can't absorb enough sunlight to manufacture vitamin D during the winter months, because the angle of the sun is too low. So it's recommended you take a vitamin supplement or try and eat additional foods with vitamin D in them.

    here's several suggestions to try
Try Honey - it helps bleach skin and also acting as a moisturizing agent. Dry skin is a factor that contributes to an uneven skin tone. Honey also has antibacterial properties that can help fade age spots or acne scars.
Use Lemons -the acid in lemons works as a natural bleaching agent for the skin and the high amount of vitamin C in them encourages new cell growth. Plus, lemons have antioxidants that are very good for skin complexion.
Apply Aloe vera - it can alleviate hyperpigmentation and restore your skin’s original shade. Hyperpigmentation is one of the biggest causes of uneven skin tone.
(I learned these and the reasons they work from Nakedra Lighter Method website )

Can you check into the possibility of a nutrient deficiency causing frequent nosebleeds, or even a nutrient "overdose?' (Vitamin A?)
I have been having them very frequently (2 or 3 per day.) No I don't live in a dry climate, it's actually pretty humid.
On the off chance this has anything to do with it my father has a hereditary blood mutation as it's called, called Factor Five. Factor V Leiden is a mutation of one of the clotting factors in the blood called factor V. This mutation can increase your chance of developing abnormal blood clots. Although I haven't been tested for it yet I do get large clots with nosebleeds. Thanks.

I do go out everyday, but mostly in sun-protective clothing, only the face, hands(with sun screen slathered on) and head is exposed and I walk in shade as much as possible. I feel sun is more damaging at my location(30 North of Equator) pill is the best way to get all the vitamin D.

It's not synthesized deep in the skin at all, it's kind of the opposite actually.
Also, skin synthesis depends on much more factors: zenith angle, lattitude, skin pigment, magnesium inter and intra cellular levels etc. Sunscreen blocks 95% or more of the UVB rays required to make vitamin D

If vitamin D is created by the photons from sunlight breaking something or separating something or whatever, couldn't artificial light do the same? I mean photons of light are all the same, it's just artificial light is different wave lengths

So basically you can get skin cancer from sunlight but you can also get Vitamin D that will decrease the chance of getting cancer. How does it balance out?
